Most WordPress site owners want their site visitors to leave comments on posts. However, if comments are not showing on your WordPress posts, follow the steps in this guide to fix the problem.
Furthermore, if WordPress comments are not showing on any post on your site, it is likely that it is disabled site-wide. However, if comments are displayed on other posts but not in a specific post, comments may be disabled on the specific post.
The next 2 sections cover steps to enable comments site-wide or on specific posts…
Enable WordPress Comments Site-wide
If none of your WordPress posts displays comments at the end of posts, follow the steps below to enable comments site-wide:
- Sign in to your WordPress site as an administrator.
- Then, on the left pane, hover over Settings and select Discussions.
- When the Discussion Settings open, on the Default post settings section, check Allow people to submit comments on new posts. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
When you enable Allow people to submit comments on new posts, comments will now be displayed at the end of posts.
Enable WordPress Comments On Individual Posts
If you have confirmed that comments are enabled in Settings -> Discussions, but a specific post does not display the comment form, comments may be disabled in the posts.
Follow the steps below to enable comments in a specific post that does not display the comments form:
- Log in to WordPress.
- Then, open the post – that does not display the comments form – for editing
- On the right pane of the post edit page, scroll down and expand Discussions.
- Then, on the Discussions section, check the checkbox beside Allow comments.
- Finally, to ensure that the changes are saved, save the post
