Add a game from its Steam store page by selecting Add to your Wishlist. Steam can then notify you by email or mobile push when the game enters Early Access, launches fully, or meets Valve’s qualifying sale rules. The steps below show how to manage the list, notification channels, categories, and privacy settings.
Add a game to your Steam Wishlist
Wishlist additions are made from the individual game’s store page. The same basic action works in the Steam desktop client and in a web browser.
Desktop client or browser
- Sign in to the Steam account that should receive the alerts.
- Open the store page for the specific game. Search for the title in Steam Store, or open a direct store link.
- On the left side of the store page, select Add to your Wishlist. The button changes to show that the game is already on your list.
- Repeat these steps for each title you want to track. A game does not need to be installed, purchased, or followed in the Community for wishlist alerts to work.
If the button is missing, confirm that you are viewing the actual store page rather than a search-result preview, and sign in before trying again. A title that has been removed from sale, has regional restrictions, or is not yet represented by a normal store page may not offer the standard control.

- In the Steam client, choose Store > Wishlist.
- In a browser, open Steam Store while signed in and choose Store > Wishlist from the store navigation.
- Find the game in the list. The title, current package information, and any available sale status should appear there.
The Wishlist page is the authoritative place to check whether an addition succeeded. If a title is absent, return to its store page and select Add to your Wishlist again.

Organize and reorder the list
Change the order
Steam lets you prioritize games so the list is easier to scan. From Store > Wishlist, drag an item to a new position. Steam also allows a number beside a title to be assigned or edited, which is useful when you want a precise ranking instead of dragging through a long list.
Ordering is for your own organization; it does not change Valve’s documented release or sale trigger. A lower-ranked title can still generate an alert when its qualifying event occurs.
Create categories and filter them
Steam’s current Wishlist interface can provide custom categories. Use the category controls on the Wishlist page to create labels that match the way you make decisions, such as “co-op,” “waiting for Early Access,” or “short campaigns.” After assigning titles, use the category filter to view only the relevant group.
Category availability and the exact control labels can change as Steam updates its interface. If categories are available on your account, they can also be used with Wishlist notification controls to narrow which groups generate notifications. Filtering a category does not remove unselected games from the Wishlist.

Prepare your account to receive alerts
Adding a title is only the tracking step. Delivery depends on account and device settings.
- Keep the email address on the Steam account verified.
- Allow Steam email messages in your account preferences and in your email provider. Check spam, promotions, and quarantine folders if a message is missing.
- If you want phone alerts, sign in to the Steam mobile app, allow its operating-system notifications, and leave mobile push notifications enabled in Steam’s notification controls.
- Make sure the phone is connected to the internet and is not suppressing Steam notifications through a focus mode, battery restriction, or app-level block.
Steamworks documentation says a wishlisted game can generate an email and/or mobile push notification when it releases in Early Access or as a full release. The documentation describes the trigger, not a guaranteed delivery time for every account or device.
Turn on release notifications
Early Access and full release
There is no separate button for every individual launch date. Once a game is on your Wishlist and your delivery channels are enabled, Steam’s release system can send an alert when the game becomes available in Early Access or reaches its full release.

- Open the Wishlist notification controls. Steam may place these controls in the Wishlist page’s settings or account notification area, and labels can change with interface updates.
- Enable email, mobile push, or both, according to how you want release notices delivered.
- If category-based controls are offered, select the categories that should be included. Leave the whole Wishlist enabled if you want every wishlisted release tracked.
- Save or apply the setting if Steam presents a confirmation control.
Early Access is treated as a release event for this purpose. A later transition from Early Access to full release is a separate product milestone, but the available notification behavior can depend on how the developer and Steam classify and announce that change.

Check the result without waiting for a launch
Review the notification controls after changing them and confirm that the selected channel still shows as enabled. Also open your account email preferences and the mobile app’s operating-system settings. These three layers—Wishlist controls, Steam account delivery preferences, and device or mailbox permissions—must not conflict.
Turn on Steam price-drop alerts
Wishlist sale alerts are automatic when Valve’s documented conditions are met. You do not set an arbitrary percentage threshold for each game.

These conditions come from Valve’s Steamworks documentation. They describe when Steam issues a Wishlist sale notification; they do not promise that every regional promotion, bundle, edition, or publisher-specific event will qualify.

Understand package and region differences
A game may have a base edition, deluxe edition, soundtrack, or bundle. The qualifying rule refers to the lowest-priced package, so seeing a discount on one package does not by itself prove that a Wishlist alert should be sent. Prices, taxes, currencies, and availability can also vary by country. Judge the offer shown on your own Steam store page rather than a price displayed for another region.

What a price alert does not guarantee
- It does not guarantee that the sale is the lowest price the game has ever reached.
- It does not guarantee an alert for a markdown below 20 percent, a promotion lasting eight hours or less, or a sale that excludes the lowest-priced package.
- It does not guarantee an exact send time. Steam may process the notification after the promotion is recognized, and email or push delivery can be delayed by providers or devices.
Choose the right notification setup
Your best configuration depends on how many games you track and how quickly you need to react.

Use Wishlist categories and demo notifications
Steam has announced controls that let users create categories, filter by category, and customize Wishlist notifications. The same notification area may also expose demo-release notices. A demo alert is different from a full release or Early Access alert: it tells you that a playable demo has become available, not that the commercial game has launched.
- Open Store > Wishlist.
- Create a category if the category control is present, then assign the relevant games.
- Open Wishlist notification controls and look for category filters or a demo-release option.
- Enable only the events and categories you want delivered by email or mobile push.
- Recheck the list after moving a game between categories; a filter can hide a title without removing it.
Because Steam can change labels and placement, use the wording shown in your account rather than relying on an older screenshot or guide.

Control who can see your Wishlist
Wishlist alerts and Wishlist visibility are separate settings. Steam Support states that visibility follows your Community Profile privacy settings. You can show the list to everyone, limit it to Steam friends, or make it visible only to the account owner.

- Open your Steam profile and its privacy settings.
- Find the Wishlist visibility control within the Community Profile privacy options.
- Choose Public, Friends Only, or Private, according to who should be able to view the list.
- Save the profile change and check the profile view you want other people to have.
Changing visibility does not turn release or sale notifications on or off. Keep the account notification controls configured separately.
Troubleshoot missing release or sale alerts
The game is not on the Wishlist
Open the game’s store page and verify that the control shows it is wishlisted. Then return to Store > Wishlist. If the title is absent, add it again while signed in to the correct account.
Email alerts do not arrive
- Verify the account email address.
- Confirm that Steam email notifications are enabled.
- Search spam, promotions, and quarantine folders for Steam messages.
- Add Steam’s legitimate sender to your provider’s safe list if your organization or provider blocks automated mail.
- Check whether the promotion actually met the 20-percent, more-than-eight-hour, lowest-priced-package rules.
Push alerts do not arrive
- Confirm that the Steam mobile app is signed in to the same account that owns the Wishlist.
- Enable notifications for Steam in the phone’s operating-system settings.
- Disable a focus, do-not-disturb, background-data, or battery-saving rule that suppresses Steam.
- Review Steam’s Wishlist notification controls and make sure mobile push is selected.
A sale is visible but no alert was sent
Check the promotion’s duration, percentage, and package coverage first. A sale can be genuine and still fall outside Valve’s documented notification criteria. Regional pricing and edition differences can also make the offer on your page different from an announcement seen elsewhere.

Steam’s documentation establishes the event triggers but does not promise an exact delivery time. Email queues, mobile operating systems, connectivity, and provider filtering can all add delay. Keep the Wishlist page bookmarked and check it directly when a release or sale is time-sensitive.
A practical maintenance routine
A short monthly check keeps the system dependable without requiring constant monitoring.
- Open Store > Wishlist and remove games you no longer intend to track.
- Reorder the remaining titles so the list reflects your current priorities.
- Review custom categories and make sure important projects are not hidden by a filter.
- Open Wishlist notification controls and confirm the desired email, push, category, and demo settings.
- Verify the account email and mobile notification permissions after changing phones, email providers, or privacy settings.
- When a sale alert arrives, inspect the lowest-priced package and promotion duration before deciding whether the offer meets your budget.
Steam can revise menu labels, category features, and delivery behavior. If a control is not in the location described above, start from the current Store > Wishlist page and look for its notification or settings control there.
