Plaud NotePin S is a wearable AI note taker for in-person conversations during field interviews, site visits and walk-and-talk meetings. It is a strong choice when the user needs both hands free and wants a physical button for starting a recording or marking an important moment.
It is not the right Plaud device for every conversation. Plaud NotePin S does not offer dedicated phone-call recording, and its wearable microphone position needs more care than a recorder placed in the centre of a table.
Why wearability changes field recording
A phone works when the user can stop, open an app and place it near the conversation. In the field, the user may be walking, holding equipment or checking a site while the other person continues talking.
Plaud NotePin S has a 17.4 g wearable design with magnetic pin, clip, lanyard and wristband options. Keeping it on the body removes the need to find a phone, although clothing and microphone direction still affect the audio.

The tactile button is the main upgrade
Plaud NotePin S starts and stops recording through a press-and-hold action. Vibration and a red indicator confirm the recording state, so the user does not have to open the Plaud App to check whether capture began.
A short press adds a highlight when a speaker corrects a figure, assigns an action or states a requirement. The reviewer can return to that passage without stopping to write a full note.

Audio range has a clear boundary
Plaud NotePin S captures voices from up to 3 m under supported conditions. That range covers many face-to-face interviews and small-group conversations, but distance is only one variable. Wind, traffic, machinery, overlapping speakers and movement can reduce clarity before transcription begins.
For an interview, keep the microphones exposed and maintain a consistent distance. In a group, wearing the recorder on one participant can make that voice dominant, so test the intended position before relying on it.
The source recording deserves attention because polished text can hide weak audio. If a name, measurement or commitment changes the next task, replay the relevant passage rather than relying on the summary alone.

Privacy and recording consent
A wearable device may not be recognised as a recorder by everyone nearby. Tell participants before starting, explain the purpose and obtain any consent required by local law, workplace policy or client agreement. The red indicator confirms recording state, but it does not replace that conversation.
Field recordings may include bystanders or information unrelated to the assignment. Stop capture when the approved conversation ends, restrict access to the resulting files and delete material according to the organisation’s retention rules.
