Method 1: Make a Specific Post or Page Draft via Quick Edit
- Log in to your WordPress site backend with an admin account. Then, click Posts or Pages on the left pane, depending on what you want to unpublish.
- After that, click Quick Edit under the title of the post or page you want to unpublish. For this demonstration, I want to unpublish the “Hello world!” post on my WordPress website.
- Next, under QUICK EDIT, click the Status drop-down, then select Draft from the options that appear.
- Finally, click the blue Update button to unpublish the post or page.
Method 2: Make A Specific Post or Page Draft Through the Block Editor
- Log in to the backend of your WordPress site with an administrator account. Then, click Posts or Pages on the left pane of the dashboard, depending on what you want to unpublish.
- Following that, select the title of the post or page you want to unpublish to open it. For this illustration, I want to make my WordPress site’s “About” page draft.
- When the page or post opens, click the Switch to draft at the top right of the page.
- By doing that, a prompt asking if you are certain you want to unpublish the post will show up on your screen. Hence, click the OK button in the prompt to unpublish the post or page.
Option 2: Unpublish Posts/Pages in Bulk

- Access your WordPress site backend with an admin account. Then, depending on what you want to unpublish, click Posts or Pages on the left pane of the WordPress backend.
- Next, check the boxes beside the posts/pages you want to bulk unpublish. For instance, I want to bulk unpublish the “Standard Post” and “Hello world!” posts, as shown in the below screenshot.
- Afterward, click the Bulk actions drop-down and select Edit from the list of options.
- Following that, click the Apply button beside the drop-down.
- Under BULK EDIT, select Draft from the Status drop-down.
- Lastly, click the Update button to bulk unpublish the selected posts or pages.
