In this Itechguide, Victor teaches you how to use Dropbox. The guide covers 4 simple steps to use Dropbox with examples.
Step 1: Sign Up for Dropbox
The first step to use Dropbox is to sign up for an account. Follow the steps below to create a new Dropbox account:
- Open Dropbox.com page from a PC or Mac. The Sign Up form will pop out on the right.
- Complete all the details on the form. Then, check the licence agreement and click Sign up.
Step 2: Install the Dropbox App
After signing up (creating an account), the next step to use this cloud storage tool is to install the apps. This sections covers steps to install the app on Windows 10, Android and iOS devices.

Option 1: Install Dropbox on Windows 10
- Click the download link. When you click the link, it will start downloading the installer immediately.
- Save the installer file to a folder on your PC.
- Then, open the folder you saved the installation file, double-click it and follow the wizard to install the app on your computer.
Option 2: Install Dropbox on Android or iPhone
- If you use Android, open Play Store App
- Then, search for dropbox, open it from the result and install the app
- However, to install the app on iPhone, open App Store app.
- Then, on the app, tap the search tab, search for dropbox, open the app and install it.
Step 3: Add Your Dropbox Account to the Apps
Once you have created an new account and installed the app on your device, the next step to add the your account to the app. This is a very simple step – open the app, then, sign in with the email address and password you used when you created the account.

After this, when you create or delete items from the app on your device, the changes will automatically synch to your account. Moreover, when you make changes on your account on the web, the changes also sync to all devices connected to your account.

Step 4: Create, Share, and Collaborate
With your account created, apps installed and sign in completed, you can now use Dropbox. Using the tool is not complex. All you have to do is create items as you would normally.
If you use Windows or Mac, all you need to do is to create or delete files or folders from the Dropbox folder. However, for Android and iPhone, open the app and make changes as well. Any change you make on the on any of the connected devices will be replicated (synced) across all your connected devices.
