However, a crew in one of the U-boats try their best to survive the battle. At the same time, the crew struggles to reason with the intent and order of their superiors.

However, instead of accepting defeat, the dictator Adolf still have a vain hope that he will be victorious. Therefore, he commands his generals and advisers to fight to their last breath.

Apocalypse Now
“Apocalypse Now” is no 8 in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime.
The story-line of the movie is set during the time of the Vietnam war. As tension rise in the war, a U.S army officer Willard who is serving in Vietnam receives a mission to take out a ruthless colonel.
While on the verge of carrying out his mission, Willard discovers something new about his target. Consequently, Willard went through a series of deadly encounters.

Dunkirk
Taking the 7 spot in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime is “Dunkirk”.
The movie is about the allied soldiers from France, the British empire, and Belgium as they were trapped on the Harbor of Dunkirk. In 1940, during World War II, the German army surround the allied soldiers and cut off their communication line.
Consequently, the allied soldiers are faced with threatening dangers. With no visible rescue operation and communication, to survive their ordeal, the soldiers have to adapt.
“Dunkirk” is a fine production with a sensational story. It features action, war, suspense, and drama. You can watch it on Amazon Prime.
Hacksaw Ridge
Coming 6th in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime is “Hacksaw Ridge”.
“Hacksaw Ridge” is based on a true story of the life of American army medic Desmond T. Doss during World War II. In a time when humanity is at his defining moments during WW II, Desmond joins the army but refuses to kill people.
Despite the tension of the war, without carrying a gun, Desmond saved more than 70 men during battle. As a result, without firing a single bullet, Desmond became the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honor.

Platoon
“Platoon” is no 5 in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime.
The story of the movie centers around a young man Chris Taylor who forgo his college to fight in the Vietnam war. Arriving in his new platoon, Chris Taylor faces a cold treatment from members of his platform.
Subsequently, as Chris Taylor engage in the war, he encounters the brutality that he could never have imagined. At the same, Taylor finds himself struggling not only with the violence of the war but conflict within his platoon.

To survive his terrible situation, Szpilmana hid in the devastated area of Warsaw until the concentration camp prisoners were released. More importantly, Szpilmana relies on his musical talents to survive hard times.

Saving Private Ryan
At no 3 in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime is “Saving Private Ryan”.
The movie is based on a true story of a mother, Mrs. Ryan who was about to receive telegrams about the death of his three sons during WW II. In the process of sending the telegrams to Mrs. Ryan, the army learns of a fourth son James Ryan who also was a soldier but behind enemy lines.
In light of this discovery, to ease the pain of Mrs. Ryan, The U.S army chief of staff George C. Marshall sends out 8 soldiers on a mission. The mission is to save a paratrooper private James Ryan at all costs and bring him back to his mother.
“Saving Private Ryan” is a remarkable movie with a touching story. It features action, adventure, drama, and war. You can watch it now on Amazon Prime.
The Hurt Locker
Coming 2nd in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime is “The Hurt Locker”.
The story-line is about a sergeant James as he takes charge of a specially trained bomb squad during the Iraq War. However, James always acts recklessly during the heat of dangerous encounters.
While members of the bomb squad are trying to understand James’ behaviors, the city escalates into chaos. As a result, the squad went through a series of intense moments that change their lives.
“The Hurt Locker” features action, drama, and war. If you want a thrilling experience, this is the movie you need to see. It is available on Amazon Prime.
Schindler’s List
Finally, at no 1 in my pick of the best war movies on Amazon Prime is “Schindler’s List”.
“Schindler’s List”, based on a true story is about the life-changing story of a German businessman Oskar Schindler during World War II. While the Nazis persecuted the Jews, Schindler felt compelled to do something about the situation.
As a result, Schindler turns his enamelware and ammunitions factory into a refuge for the Jews. Thereby, saving more than 1000 Jews from facing a gruesome end.
The movie is a brilliant production with notable awards. It is surely one of the best war movies to watch on Amazon Prime.
