This Itechguide teaches you how to transfer photos from iPhone to PC in Windows 10. The guide covers steps for 3 methods to transfer photos from iPhone to PC in Windows 10.
Install the Required Apps
The steps covered in this guide requires that you install iTunes and iCloud. For steps to install iTunes, use the steps in this guide – How to Install iTunes on Windows 10.
To install iCloud, follow the steps below:
If you have installed iCloud on your PC, skip this step.
- Type Microsoft store in the search box. Then, from the search results, click Microsoft Store.
- On the top right of the store, click search, type iCloud and click iCloud App.
- When the app opens, click Get.
- The app will download and install. The progress bar will be displayed on the top left of the app details screen.
- Once the app is installed, and you have installed iTunes, proceed to the next step.
3 Methods to Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC

Method 1: Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC with iCloud
For the steps in this section to work: 1, you must be signed into the same iCloud account. 2, Photos MUST synch from your iPhone to iCloud.
- Type iCloud in the search box. Then, open the iCloud App.
- If you are opening the app for the first time, you may have to wait for a short while.
- Then, when the app opens, sign in with your Apple ID and password.
- If you receive a request to send diagnostics and usage data to Apple, click Don’t send.
- When iCloud opens, all the checkboxes will be checked by default. You can uncheck all other checkboxes except Photos.
- Then, beside Photos, click Options.
- On the options screen, you may uncheck the last 2 options but the first 2 MUST remain checked.
- When you finish making your changes, to close the Photos Options screen, at the bottom right click Done.
- You will be returned to the iCloud app. Click Apply. Then, wait for the app to download content from the iCloud server.
- To view photos from your iPhone (downloaded from iCloud), right-click the Windows 10 Start menu and click File Explorer.
- On the Quick access pane of File Explorer, click Pictures.
The Pictures folder was created when you installed iCloud app on your PC.
- Your photos should be in these folders. If the folders are empty, it may mean that you disabled iCloud photos on your iPhone.
- Use the steps in the next sub-section to enable iCloud photos on your iPhone.
How to Enable iCloud Photos on Your iPhone
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Then, on the Settings app, click your Apple ID.
- When your Apple ID opens, click iCloud.
- On the iCloud screen, beneath APPS USING ICLOUD, click Photos.
- Finally, turn the button beside iCloud Photos On. When it is On, the background of the button will change from gray to green.
Your iPhone may need to be connected to a Wifi for your photos to synch to iCloud. Once your photos synch from your iPhone to iCloud, they will be downloaded to your computer.
Method 2: Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC with File Explorer
After installing iTunes app to your computer, your iPhone will be displayed as internal storage and you can view and copy photos from your iPhone to your PC. Here are the steps…

- To transfer photos from your iPhone from File Explorer, connect your phone to a USB port on your computer. Your iPhone will display a pop up requesting to trust the computer or not. On your phone, tap Trust.
If you tap Don’t Trust, you will NOT be able to view the photos on your iPhone from your Windows 10.
- Then, right-click the Windows 10 Start menu and File Explorer.
- On the Quick access pane of File Explorer, click This PC.
- When This PC opens click Apple iPhone.
- Then click Internal Storage.
- On Internal Storage, click the DCIM folder.
- The photos on your iPhone will be in any of the DCIM sub-folders.
- To transfer photos from iPhone to PC Windows 10, open one of the DCIM sub-folders, select all the photos (Ctrl + A). Then, copy the photos (Ctrl + C) and paste them in another folder on your PC.
Method 3: Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC with Photos App
- Connect your phone to a USB port on your computer. Your iPhone will display a pop up requesting to trust the computer or not. On your phone, tap Trust.
- Type photos in the search box. Then, from the search result, click Photos App.
- When the Photos app opens, you may receive the What’s new in Photos pop up, close it.
- On the top right of the Photos app, click Import. Then, select From a USB device.
- Wait for the Photos App to search for Photos on your iPhone. Depending on the number of photos on your iPhone, this may take a while.
- When the app completes the process of searching for photos on your iPhone, de-select the photos you do NOT want to import. Then, import the rest.
