How to Install KODI on Windows 10

This Itechguide teaches you how to install KODI on Windows 10. The guide covers steps for 2 methods to install KODI on Windows 10.

Option 1: Install KODI from KODI.tv

  • The first step is to determine whether your Windows 10 is 32 or 64-bits. To perform this task, open command prompt, type the command below and press enter
systeminfo | FINDSTR "Type"
  • Your Windows 10 edition will be displayed beside “System Type”. In this example, my Windows 10 is 64-bits.
Note this information as you will need it to download the right KODI version for your Operating System.

  • Once you have determined your Windows 10 edition, open KODI.tv/download from a browser on your PC.
  • Then, scroll down to the “Choose your weapon” section of the page and click the Windows logo.

  • On the Kodi for Windows page, click on the 64BIT or 32BIT installer download link. This will depend on your Windows 10 edition determined in step 1 above.
For this example, I will click INSTALLER (64BIT) since my Windows 10 is 64-bits

  • Then, wait for the Save As window to display. Save the KODI installer to a folder on your PC. Wait for the file to download before proceeding to the next step.

  • When the KODI installer file is downloaded, open the folder you saved the file and double-click the installer file.

  • If you receive a User Account Control confirmation, click Yes.
  • Then, on the Welcome to Kodi Setup screen, click Next.

  • On the License Agreement screen, click I Agree.

  • Then, on the Choose Components screen, accept the default selections and click Next.
  • On the Choose Install Location screen, click Next.
If you want to install KODI on a different drive, change C: to the drive letter. For example, to install KODI on drive D, change C: to D:
  • Finally, to install KODI on Windows 10 from KODI.tv, on the Choose Start Menu Folder screen, click Install.

Option 2: Install KODI from Microsoft Store

You can also install KODI from the Microsoft Store. To install KODI from the Microsoft Store, follow the steps below.

  • Type Microsoft store on the search box. Then, on the search results, click Microsoft Store.

  • Then, on the top right of the Microsoft Store app, click the search icon.
  • Type KODI on the Microsoft Store app search box. Then, from the list of displayed apps, click the Kodi App. The KODI app details will open.
Note the KODI logo on the app I highlighted on the image below. Ensure you select the Kodi App with this logo, otherwise you may be installing the wrong app.
  • Finally, to install KODI on Windows 10 from Microsoft Store, scroll down the app details page and click Get.
  • The app will download and install.
  • When the app is installed, on the top right of the app details page, click Launch.
You may also close Microsoft Store. Then, when you want to launch KODI, use the Windows 10 search to find it. See the second image below.
