This Itechguide teaches you how to download from Dropbox. The guide covers steps to download from Dropbox from a PC, Android, or iPhone.
Option 1: Download from Dropbox via a PC
- Open Dropbox.com from a PC. Then, on the top right of the page, click Sign In and login with your Dropbox account.
- After signing in, Dropbox may require you to confirm that you are not a robot. To complete the challenge, click Verify.
The verification process may take sometime – be warned, it may be irritating! Be patient…Dropbox is just trying to protect their site!
- When your Dropbox profile opens, on the left pane of the page, click Files.
- Then, locate the file or folder you want to download and click the 3 dots beside the it. From the displayed options, click Download.
- Finally, save the file to a folder on your computer.
If you download a file, it will download as the file type but if you download a folder or multiple files, they will be downloaded as a zip file.
The option to download a folder is only available from Recent section of the homepage.
- To download multiple files, check the box beside each file. Then wait for Dropbox to prepare the files for download. Finally, to download from Dropbox, at the right pane, click Download.
Option 2: Download from Dropbox Through an Android Device
- Open the Dropbox App on your Android phone. Then, sign in with your Dropbox account.
- When the App opens your Dropbox account, tap the 3 dots on the top right of the file you want to download. When you tap the 3 dots, some options will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
- To shown the Export option, swipe up the displayed option to full screen. Then, scroll down until you get to Export.
- Finally, to download from Dropbox App for Android, tap Export.
- Then, on the Export this file screen, tap Save to device. This will save the file to your phone.
- You could also save the file to Google Drive (if you have Google Drive App on your phone).
- The Export screen also offers option to email the file. You could email the file to yourself. You may even Skype or WhatsApp the file to yourself!
Option 3: Download from Dropbox via an iPhone
- Open the Dropbox App on your iPhone. Then, sign in with your Dropbox account.
- Tap the 3 dots on the top right of the file you want to download. A set of options will be display at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down the displayed options and tap Export.
- Finally, to download from Dropbox App for iPhone, use any of the available Sharing Apps to send the file to yourself. You could WhatApps, Skype or email the file to yourself.
Unlike the Android App, the iPhone App does not have the option to save the file to your device!
