Option 1: Disable Comments from a PC
When you open YouTube Studio from a PC, you can disable comments for new videos by adjusting the default comments settings. You can also disable comments for a specific video.
Method 1: Disable Comments for All New Videos
If you want to disable comments for all new videos you publish, follow the steps below…
- Open Studio.YouTube.com from a browser on your PC. Then, log in with your Google account.
- On the left pane of the page, click Settings.
- On the Settings pop up window, click Community.
- Then, on the Community tab, click Defaults.
- Click the Comments on your new videos drop-down and select Disable comments.
- Finally, to disable comments on YouTube for all new videos, at the bottom right of the Settings pop-up window, click SAVE.
Method 2: Disable Comments for a Specific Video
If you want to disable comments for a specific video, follow the steps below.
- Open Studio.YouTube.com from a browser on your PC. Then, log in with your Google account.
- On the left pane of the page, click the Videos tab.
- Then, click on the video you want to disable comments.
- When the video opens for editing, click the More options tab.
- Then, scroll down to the Comments and ratings section, click the Community visibility drop-down and select Disable comments.
- Finally, to disable comments on YouTube for a specific video, on the top right of the screen, click SAVE.
Option 2: Disable Comments from Android or iPhone
You can disable comments for a specific video from the YouTube Studio app.
- Open the YouTube Studio app from your phone. If you have not installed the App, install it before you proceed to the next step.
- On the top left of the app, tap the app’s menu icon (3 lines). The menu options will be displayed. From the displayed menu options, tap Videos.
- Then, tap on the video you want to disable comment.
- When the video opens, on the top right of the video, tap the edit icon (looks like a pencil). The video will open for editing.
- Then, on the top of the screen, for the Android app, tap ADVANCED SETTINGS. For the iPhone app, tap the settings icon (looks like a gear – see the second image below).
- Scroll down to the Comments section and turn the Allow comments switch Off (it is On by default). The first image below is from the Android app, the second image is from the iPhone app.
- Finally, to disable comments on YouTube for the video, on the top right of the screen, tap SAVE.
