This Itechguide teaches you how to delete Amazon account. The guide covers steps to delete (close) Amazon account from a PC.
As at the time of writing this Itechguide, the option to close an Amazon account is only available when you access Amazon.com from a PC.
Amazon intentionally hide the option to close your account. I suspect that the purpose is to make it difficult to close your account. But here are the steps to delete Amazon account…
- Open Amazon.com from a browser on your PC. If your account is another Amazon marketplace, change .com to your country’s domain. For example my Amazon account is in the UK, I will open Amazon.co.uk instead.
- Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page – on the right side of the page, click Help. If you opened any other Amazon site, like Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.ca, click Customer service.
The steps to delete Amazon account may differ a bit depending on whether you are using Amazon.com or other country’s Amazon marketplaces.
- When the What can we help you with? page opens, scroll down to Browse Help Topics. Then hover over Need More Help? and click Contact Us.
- For other marketplaces outside the US (Amazon.com), Contact Us is last in the list.
At this point, if you have not previously signed in to your Amazon account you may be prompted to sign in.
- If you are using Amazon.com, click Prime or something else. For other Amazon sites, click either Start charting or Call me. Then, let the customer service agent know that you wish to close your account.
- The remaining steps in this Itechguide is for Amazon.com
- On Amazon.com when you click Prime or something else, scroll down to Tell us more and click the drop-down.
- Then, from the drop-down options, select Login & security. A new drop-down will be displayed beneath the first drop-down.
- Finally, to delete Amazon account, click the second drop-down and select Close my account.
- As expected, Amazon will try to discourage you from closing your account by offering an alternative.
- If you are really determined to delete your Amazon account, scroll down to Or, talk to someone section and select your preferred option to get in touch with Amazon’s customer service. The quickest option will be to chat with somebody and let them know that you wish to close your Amazon account.
As you can see, Amazon does not make it easy to delete (close) your Amazon account! But with a little patience you can do it!
