This Itechguide teaches you how to ask for recommendations on Facebook. The guide covers steps to ask for recommendations on Facebook from a PC and the App.
You can use the Ask for Recommendations feature to ask your Friends to recommend restaurants, places to visit or anything at all.
Option 1: Ask for Recommendations Using a PC (Facebook.com)
- Open Facebook.com from your PC. Then, if you have not yet signed in, sign in with your Facebook account.
- On the top middle of your Facebook News Feed, click the 3 dots beneath What’s on your mind? box.
- Then, from the list of displayed options, click Ask for Recommendations.
- Once you click Ask for Recommendations, the question in the box above it will change from What’s on your mind? to What are you looking for? Facebook will also display Where are you looking for recommendations field with a list of locations listed beneath it.
- If the location you need recommendation is listed, click on it. Otherwise, type the city in the Where are you looking for recommendations field. Then, select the city from the displayed cities.
- In this example, I need a recommendation for Manchester, United Kingdom. I typed manches…then selected the first option.
- The location you selected will now be listed in your post. Enter the details of what you need in the What are you looking for? field.
- Finally, to ask for recommendations on Facebook, scroll down and click Post.
- Your post will be displayed as Looking for recommendations as shown below.
Option 2: Ask for Recommendations via the Facebook App
- Open the Facebook App on your phone. Then, login to the app with your Facebook account.
- On the top middle of the App, tap What’s on your mind?.
- Then, scroll down the list beneath the What’s on your mind? and tap Ask for Recommendations.
- Scroll down What are you looking for? and tap Add a Location.
- Then, on the Find location screen, start typing the city you need recommendation for. Based on your search, Facebook will display a list of locations. Tap the city you want.
- The selected location will become available in your post. Enter the details of what you need in the What are you looking for? field.
- Finally, to ask for recommendations on Facebook, on the top right of the new post, tap POST.
- The post will appear as shown in the image below…If you have friends that know the city, Facebook will offer you the option to ask them directly.
