This a fantasy movie with some thrilling adventures. The story begins when a troubled boy comes across a mysterious book. Within the pages of the book, the boy enters a fascinating fantasy world.
Compared to the world the he left behind, the boy becomes a beacon of hope to a world desperately in need of a hero. However, there lies a dangerous path to be taken to save the fantasy world from destruction.

Onward (2020)
At no 9 in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “Onward”.
In a fantasy world, two elven brothers wish to spend at least a day with their late father. In order to make this happen, against all odds, the brothers decide to go on an epic journey to bring back their father.
Meanwhile, the boys’ mother begins a search to find her sons when she realized they were not home.
This animated movie features adventure, comedy, and fantasy. “Onward” is surely one of the best family movies on Amazon Prime.
Rango (2011)
“Rango” ranks 8th in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime.
The story-line of this movie is about a chameleon named Rango who aspires to be more of an adventurer. Accidentally, he finds himself in a dry old western town. The town is plagued by bandits and in a dire need of water.
With the intention to have an adventure, Rango quickly agrees to become the town’s sheriff. Then, he promises to solve the challenges facing the old town.
“Rango” is a fine animated movie for the family with comedy and adventure. If you want a brilliant animated movie, you definitely need to see this one. You can watch it now on Amazon Prime.
The Black Stallion (1979)
Coming 7th in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “The Black Stallion”.
The movie tells the story of a boy named Alec who was traveling with his father by ship. Subsequently, the boy took interest in a black stallion who was onboard the ship. Unfortunately, the ship sank and the boy with the horse shipwrecked on a deserted island.
After a while on the island, the boy who forms an unlikely bond with the horse. Soon after, they were rescued from the island. With the help of a trainer, the boy trains the horse to race against some of the fastest horses in the world.
“The Black Stallion” is a brilliant movie with a touching story. It features adventure and sports – making it perfect for family entertainment. It is available on Amazon Prime.
Hugo (2011)
“Hugo” is no 6 in our my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime.
The story of the movie is set in 1930s Paris. It centers around an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station. The orphan boy Hugo, learns to fix technical equipment from his uncle and late father.
After a while, Hugo becomes curious about a robot that belongs to his father. He believes the robot holds answers to some mysterious secrets about his father’s past. To get the robot to start working, Hugo teams up with a young girl and the girl’s father.
If you want drama, fantasy, and mystery, “Hugo” is the one you need to see. It is available on Amazon Prime.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Ranking at no 5 in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
The film tells a tale of a young orphan boy – Harry Potter. At his guardian home where he was mistreated, he realizes his parents were at a time two powerful wizards.
In the wake of this discovery, Harry Potter needs to enroll in a school of wizardry to become a wizard. There in the school, he learns of his parents’ sacrifice and the evil that grip the whole magical world.

Paddington
Taking the 4 spot my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “Paddington”.
This movie is about a homeless bear who travels to London to find a home. As soon as he was in London, he became stranded and alone. Fortunately, he comes across a family who decides to harbor him for the meantime.
While still enjoying this kindness, the bear caught the eye of a museum taxidermist who wants to capture him. As a result of this, the bear runs for his life but faces a series of unpleasant situations.
The movie features adventure, comedy, fantasy – making it a good one for family entertainment. If you watch this movie, you will also be interested to watch its part 2. “Paddington 1 & 2” is available on Amazon Prime.
Fantastic Mr. Fox
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” ranks 3rd in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime.
The story-line is about a cunning fox who constantly steals chickens, ducks, and turkeys from farms. Subsequently, he was compelled to leave his vicious ways but he wishes to try one more raid.
On the other hand, three mean farmers have discovered the fox. Hence, they make plans to catch and kill the fox. In a bid to save himself and his community from the farmers’ wrath, the fox have to take responsibility for his actions.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” is a combination of action, animation, comedy, and adventure. If you watch this movie, it will be worthwhile. It is available on Amazon Prime.
Ernest & Celestine (2012)
Coming 2nd in our my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “Ernest & Celestine”.
This movie tells the story of the rarest friendship between a bear and a young mouse. The bear lives in a world above the ground while the mouse lives in a world beneath the ground. However, the bear and the young mouse find a common cause that begins the journey of their unlikely friendship.
However, their friendship became a threat to both worlds. Despite the odds, the bear and the mouse have to stick together and thrive to stand up to what they believe is very important – friendship.
“Ernest & Celestine” features adventure and comedy. If you want a relaxing animation movie for your family, “Ernest & Celestine” is the right choice. It is available on Amazon Prime.
The Lion King (1994)
Finally, at no 1 in my pick of the best family movies on Amazon Prime is “The Lion King”.
This is an epic tale of a lion cub crown prince who was misled to think he is the cause of his father’s death. Sinking in his sorrow and shame, the cub runs away from his home and kingdom.
However, the crown prince’s uncle who deceived him rules in his stead with an iron paw feared by all animals. As the crown prince comes into adulthood in his exile, he realizes it was wrong to leave his home and kingdom.
Gradually, he summons up the courage to find his way back home and take the kingdom from his gruesome uncle.
“The Lion King” is a classic animation with drama, music, and adventure. If you want the best entertainment for your family, you have to watch this movie. It is available on Amazon Prime.
