The Conditioning system asks you to balance benefits and drawbacks while shaping Hershel’s mind. It is another way the game turns character development into a trade-off: a helpful mental adjustment can carry a cost, and the most attractive option is not automatically the safest one.

ZA/UM announced the PC Director’s Cut on October 1, 2026. The update is free for all owners of the original game on PC. It is not described as a separately priced expansion in that announcement.

Waiting is not the same as rejecting the game. It avoids paying for a different version before ZA/UM confirms whether a Switch 2 edition will ship and what content it will include. Recheck official publisher and Nintendo store information before treating retailer rumors or placeholder pages as evidence.

Existing PC owners receive the Director’s Cut as a free update. That makes PC the strongest value choice for this audience: the new material, Backstage Mode, presentation changes, additions and listed quality-of-life features arrive without buying the game again.
A PC owner might still prefer PS5 for a separate console save, television setup or DualSense controls, but that is a hardware-preference decision rather than a content upgrade requirement.
Do not choose based on unannounced performance claims
No cited source publishes frame rate, resolution or load times for either console. Avoid buying on claims that one version will run at a particular setting or outperform the other. Those specifications need an official announcement or measured testing before they can support a recommendation.

Using the Director’s Cut feature list as a console specification
