Before you continue, ensure that you have the user name and password for a local user with administrator permission on the computer. The easiest way is to note the password of the local administrator account on your Windows 10 PC.

Step 1: Boot to Recovery Mode

Before Windows 10, you could press F8 to start Windows in safe mode. Microsoft removed this feature from Windows 10.   1. To restart your computer, close the command prompt. Then, click Continue to start Windows 10 normally. At this point, your Windows 10 computer will no longer display “diagnosing your PC.”
