There are 13 released feature films in the Michael Myers Halloween franchise, and no single U.S. streaming service carries all of them. The easiest first-time route is Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends. That four-film sequence is the modern continuity and avoids the franchise’s other sequel branches.
This U.S. availability snapshot was checked in late July 2026. Streaming rights change frequently, so treat subscription, free-with-ads, rental, purchase, and disc listings as a snapshot rather than a guarantee. Search by the film’s year, especially for the three movies titled simply Halloween.
How many Halloween movies are there?
This guide uses “every Halloween movie” to mean the 13 released feature films in the Michael Myers franchise—not every movie with the word “Halloween” in its title and not every Halloween-season recommendation.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch is an anthology-style film with a new story and no Michael Myers, while Halloween (2007) and Halloween (2018) are separate reimaginings or continuity resets. Netflix and Hulu seasonal categories may also include films such as Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Fear Street, and Saw; those are not part of this 13-film franchise list.

Where to watch all 13 Halloween movies
The table below separates subscription access from channel add-ons, free-with-ads viewing, digital rentals and purchases, and physical media. A service name in a channel listing does not necessarily mean the movie is included in that service’s basic plan.
| Film | Continuity | U.S. availability snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| Halloween (1978) | Original continuity; starting point for every branch | Listed through AMC+, Shudder, fuboTV, Philo, YouTube TV, Cultpix, and related channel bundles. Xumo Play is listed as a free-with-ads option. Digital rental and purchase listings include Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. |
| Halloween II (1981) | Direct continuation of the 1978 film | Listed through YouTube TV and the MovieSphere+ Amazon Channel. Pluto TV is listed as a free-with-ads option. Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home offer rental or purchase listings. |
| Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) | Standalone anthology entry | Primarily listed for digital rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. No free streaming option was identified in the late-July 2026 check. |
| Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) | Continues the original/Thorn branch | Listed through subscription or channel offerings including AMC+/Shudder-related options, with digital rental and purchase listings. DVD and Blu-ray copies are also available. |
| Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) | Continues Halloween 4 | The franchise-level availability guide includes current digital and disc offers. Because the exact service mix is volatile, check the title-level listing for the current subscription, rental, purchase, or physical-media option. |
| Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) | Concludes the original Thorn storyline | The standard release has current streaming and digital-purchase listings in the franchise guide. The separate Producer’s Cut had no streaming offer in the reviewed title listing; collectors should look for physical media rather than assume the two versions are interchangeable. |
| Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) | H20 branch | Listed through Max/HBO Max, Cinemax channel variants, and YouTube TV. Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home list rental or purchase options. DVD and Blu-ray editions are also available. |
| Halloween: Resurrection (2002) | Continues the H20 branch | Listed through Max/HBO Max and Cinemax channel variants, as well as YouTube TV. Rental or purchase listings include Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and Spectrum On Demand. No free streaming option was identified in the check. |
| Halloween (2007) | Rob Zombie reimagining | Separate from the original, H20, and 2018 timelines. Availability is especially volatile; check a current U.S. title-level listing immediately before watching rather than relying on a generic Halloween search. |
| Halloween II (2009) | Rob Zombie’s sequel to his 2007 film | Separate from the 1981 sequel and the later legacy trilogy. Confirm the year and current U.S. subscription, rental, purchase, or disc listing before selecting it. |
| Halloween (2018) | 2018 legacy trilogy | Directly follows the 1978 original and ignores the intervening sequels. Its current service listing should be rechecked at the time of viewing; do not assume that a previous Peacock or Hulu listing is still active. |
| Halloween Kills (2021) | Middle film of the 2018–2022 trilogy | Direct sequel to Halloween (2018). Check the current U.S. title-level listing for subscription, channel, rental, purchase, or disc availability. |
| Halloween Ends (2022) | Conclusion of the 2018–2022 trilogy | It streamed on Peacock at launch, but that historical fact does not establish current availability. Recheck the current listing before watching. |
Availability reminder: The researched franchise guide found the 13 films distributed across more than 20 services, with different offers for subscription viewing, channel add-ons, free-with-ads access, rentals, purchases, and discs. There is no reliable one-subscription solution for the complete franchise.
The best Halloween watch order for first-time viewers
For most viewers, watch:
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween (2018)
- Halloween Kills (2021)
- Halloween Ends (2022)
The 2018 film is a legacy sequel that follows the events of the 1978 original while disregarding the other sequels. Halloween Kills continues that story, and Halloween Ends completes it. This is the cleanest route if you want the most coherent modern story without watching every continuity branch.
You do not need Halloween II (1981) to understand the 2018 trilogy. However, the 1981 film is important if you want the original sibling premise or plan to watch the H20 branch.
Release order: all 13 Halloween movies
Completionists should use release order. It shows how the franchise changed from Carpenter’s original slasher to an anthology experiment, a mythology-heavy sequel cycle, two separate reboots, and the later legacy trilogy.

- Halloween Ends (2022)
Release order is also the most practical way to watch all 13 without repeatedly wondering which sequel belongs to which reboot. The drawback is that you will move between continuities and probably between several services or transactional stores.
Timeline watch orders
The franchise has four meaningful story branches, plus the standalone third film. Choose one based on the type of story you want rather than trying to force all 13 movies into one uninterrupted timeline.

- Halloween II (1981)
- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
- Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
This branch begins with the original and its direct continuation, then resumes the story with Halloween 4. It develops the Thorn mythology and exists in two notable versions of The Curse of Michael Myers: the theatrical cut and the Producer’s Cut. Those cuts should be treated as separate editions, not as identical films with interchangeable labels.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch is normally watched separately. It was designed as an anthology-style departure, so it does not continue Michael Myers’s story and does not need to be inserted between Halloween II and Halloween 4.
H20 continuity
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween II (1981)
- Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
- Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
The H20 branch follows the sibling premise established in the 1981 sequel and brings Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode in Halloween H20. It ignores Halloween 4, Halloween 5, and The Curse of Michael Myers.

Because the two H20 films are currently concentrated in Max/Cinemax-related listings and transactional stores, a one-off rental or physical copy may be more convenient than adding a service solely for this branch. For collectors following this continuity, a Halloween H20 Blu-ray can provide more dependable access when streaming rights move; verify the exact edition and region before purchasing.
Rob Zombie’s remake continuity
- Halloween (2007)
- Halloween II (2009)
Rob Zombie’s Halloween is a reimagining of the original story, not a sequel to the 1978 film. His Halloween II continues the 2007 version and is unrelated to the 1981 film except for sharing the franchise title and broad sibling premise.
When searching, include the year and director—“Halloween 2007 Rob Zombie” or “Halloween II 2009”—because a platform’s search results may place several similarly titled films together.
2018 legacy trilogy
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween (2018)
- Halloween Kills (2021)
- Halloween Ends (2022)
The 2018 film relaunches the series from the 1978 original. The official franchise explanations used for this guide identify those four films as the relevant path for the modern trilogy, with the 2018 movie serving as the starting point after the original.
What to check before pressing play
1. Confirm the year
Three major entries are titled Halloween: 1978, 2007, and 2018. They are not interchangeable. The 1978 film is John Carpenter’s original; the 2007 film is Rob Zombie’s reimagining; and the 2018 film is the legacy sequel that begins the modern trilogy.

2. Check how the title is being offered
- Included with a subscription: the film is part of the service’s current plan, subject to the service’s regional rights.
- Channel add-on: the listing may require an additional channel subscription inside another platform, such as a premium movie channel or Amazon Channel.
- Free with ads: you may not need a paid subscription, but the service inserts advertising and may require an account.
- Rent or buy: the film is available transactionally but is not included in a regular subscription.
- DVD or Blu-ray: a physical copy can be the most stable option when rights are fragmented, although inventory and edition details vary.
3. Verify the cut
This is especially important for Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. The theatrical cut and Producer’s Cut are distinct versions. The reviewed listing showed no streaming offer for the Producer’s Cut, so do not rent the standard digital version expecting it to be the alternate cut.
4. Compare the total cost
If you only want the four-film modern route, a subscription may be worthwhile if all four are currently included. If you are watching one hard-to-find sequel, a digital rental can cost less than starting another monthly service. If you are watching all 13, compare rentals with physical media rather than assuming a large subscription stack will be cheaper.
For stable ownership of frequently rotated entries, a Halloween 4K Blu-ray or standard Blu-ray may be a sensible fallback. Confirm the exact film, edition, region, disc format, and included cut before following a commercial product link; not every box set contains all 13 films.

The 1978 original has the broadest availability in the researched U.S. snapshot. It appears across multiple subscription and channel services, has a free-with-ads option through Xumo Play, and is available to rent or buy digitally.

Halloween II (1981) also has a free-with-ads route through Pluto TV in the snapshot. By contrast, Halloween III is primarily a digital rental or purchase, with no free option identified during the check.

The H20 films are more concentrated in Max/Cinemax-related services and transactional stores. The Curse of Michael Myers is more complicated because the Producer’s Cut is a separate collector concern and was not listed for streaming in the reviewed title listing. The 2007, 2009, 2018, 2021, and 2022 titles require especially careful current-title searches because the available service can change quickly.
How to find a film when the listing has changed
- Search the complete title with its year—for example, “Halloween 2018 streaming” rather than simply “Halloween.”
- Use a reputable availability guide that separates subscription, free-with-ads, rental, purchase, and disc categories.
- Open the individual film page and check whether the offer is included in your plan or requires a channel add-on.
- Compare at least one rental, purchase, and physical-media option before subscribing to a new service.
- Check the edition description if you are looking for the Producer’s Cut, a 4K release, or a particular Blu-ray version.
Do not rely on an old article that says a movie is “on” a service without a date. Do not use unlicensed streaming sources or assume that a VPN provides legitimate access to a title unavailable in your region.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Halloween III: Season of the Witch a Michael Myers movie?
No. It is an anthology-style franchise entry with a different story and no Michael Myers. You can watch it independently of the original, Thorn, H20, Rob Zombie, and 2018 continuities.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Do I need to watch Halloween II (1981) before Halloween (2018)?
No. Halloween (2018) follows the 1978 original and ignores the previous sequels. You should watch the 1981 film first if you want to follow the H20 branch or understand the sibling premise established by that continuity.
Are the two versions of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers the same?
No. The theatrical cut and Producer’s Cut are separate versions. The Producer’s Cut had no streaming offer in the reviewed U.S. listing, so verify the edition carefully if that is the version you want.
Why can’t I find all 13 Halloween movies on one streaming service?
The films are split across different rights holders and offer types. The late-July 2026 U.S. snapshot found the franchise distributed across more than 20 services, including subscription platforms, channel add-ons, free-with-ads services, digital stores, and physical-media sellers.
The Bottom Line
For a first watch, use 1978 → 2018 → Halloween Kills → Halloween Ends. For all 13 films, use release order and search each title by year. The 1978 original is the easiest to find, Halloween III is a standalone anthology, the H20 films often require Max/Cinemax-related access or a rental, and the Producer’s Cut of The Curse of Michael Myers is a separate physical-media hunt. U.S. streaming availability was checked in late July 2026 and can change at any time.
