Verdict: Buy the realme 16x 5G if your priorities are very long battery life, fluid scrolling and dependable everyday performance in India. Skip it if you want a sharp screen, flexible cameras, demanding-game performance or a cleaner software setup. The phone’s unusually large battery is its strongest advantage; its 720p display and basic camera system are the compromises you will notice most.
realme 16x 5G at a glance
The realme 16x 5G is a large-screen, budget-to-midrange Android phone sold in India. Its headline hardware combines a 7,000mAh battery, 45W charging, a 6.8-inch 144Hz LCD and MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 processor. Those specifications point to a phone designed for endurance and smooth everyday navigation rather than high-resolution media or serious photography.
| Specification or item | What is established |
|---|---|
| Display | 6.8-inch LCD, 720×1570 resolution, up to 144Hz refresh rate |
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 6300 |
| Battery and charging | 7,000mAh battery with 45W charging |
| Rear camera | 50MP AI camera; no ultrawide or telephoto camera is listed |
| India storage choices | 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB are listed by realme |
| Box contents | Protective case, charger, USB data cable, SIM ejector tool and quick guide |
These are manufacturer-listed features from the realme India product page and official India store listing. The refresh-rate figure describes how often the panel can update; it does not indicate image sharpness, which is governed mainly by resolution and pixel density.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThree reasons to buy the realme 16x 5G
1. The battery is built for long days away from a socket
A 7,000mAh cell gives the realme 16x 5G more battery headroom than the typical phone in this class. realme pairs it with 45W wired charging, so the phone is intended for users who would rather charge less often than carry a power bank. Battery life still depends on signal strength, brightness, 5G use, gaming and background apps, but the capacity is a meaningful hardware advantage for commuters, travelers and people who stream or navigate throughout the day.

Gadgets 360 measured nearly two days of mixed use and recorded 28 hours 57 minutes in PCMark Work 3.1, with the test ending at 19 percent. That is a single publication’s controlled result, not a promise that every owner will obtain the same runtime. It does, however, show why endurance is the phone’s clearest selling point. You can read the test conditions and broader observations in the Gadgets 360 review.
- Good fit: long commutes, hotspot use, navigation, video playback and users who forget nightly charging.
- Important limit: 45W is the charging rate, not a guaranteed time from zero to 100 percent; temperature, cable, charger and usage affect the result.
2. Scrolling and animations should feel unusually fluid
The panel can refresh at up to 144Hz. In compatible interfaces, that can make scrolling through feeds, switching screens and moving through menus feel more immediate than a 60Hz display. The benefit is most apparent when the software actually selects a high-refresh mode and when the processor can sustain the required frame rate.
Do not confuse fluid motion with a sharper picture. The 6.8-inch panel runs at 720×1570, commonly described as HD+. Text, fine interface lines and high-resolution video will not look as crisp as they do on a 1080p-class display of similar size. The combination therefore suits readers who value smoothness more than pixel density. The resolution and refresh-rate specifications are listed by realme and repeated in the Gadgets 360 specifications page.
The large physical size can also help with maps, captions and split-screen apps, although the low resolution limits how much detail fits comfortably on screen. If you spend hours reading small text, editing photos or watching high-bitrate video, inspect the display in person before buying.

3. Everyday performance is adequate without excessive heat in ordinary use
The Dimensity 6300 is aimed at routine workloads rather than flagship-class gaming. Independent testing found it suitable for messaging, social apps, browsing, video calls, music, navigation and casual games. Gadgets 360 also reported good heat management in its testing. That balance matters if you want a phone that stays comfortable during normal use instead of chasing benchmark peaks.
There is a ceiling. The same review observed frame drops in a more demanding game at default settings. Expect to lower graphics or frame-rate options for sustained heavy gaming, especially in warm surroundings or while using mobile data. realme’s own stable-frame-rate claims apply only to variants with 6GB RAM or more, so do not generalize those claims to the 4GB model. The processor and qualification appear on the official product page.
For buyers who mainly need a reliable communication, media and productivity device, this is a sensible performance profile. For competitive gaming, intensive emulation or long sessions at high settings, choose a device with a faster chipset and a higher-resolution panel even if that means accepting a smaller battery.
Two reasons to skip the realme 16x 5G
1. The display trades detail for refresh rate
The most concrete weakness is the 720×1570 resolution on a 6.8-inch screen. At that size, individual pixels and softness in small type are easier to notice than they would be on a compact HD+ phone. Streaming services may still play video normally, but the panel cannot show the same fine detail as a 1080p display. Photos, scanned documents and web pages with dense text are the situations in which the compromise is most obvious.

- 161.8 x 76.9 x 8.2 mm (6.37 x 3.03 x 0.32 in)
A 144Hz mode can make movement look smoother, yet it cannot add missing pixels. Decide which attribute you notice more: fluid scrolling or crisp detail. If sharp text and video are non-negotiable, this model should be removed from your shortlist regardless of its battery capacity.
2. Cameras and software are compromises rather than highlights
The rear system is a basic 50MP camera without an ultrawide or telephoto lens. You can take standard wide-angle photographs, but there is no separate lens for fitting a group or landscape into the frame and no optical telephoto perspective for distant subjects. Digital zoom enlarges the central part of the image and loses detail, so it is not a substitute for those focal lengths.
Reviewers found the camera adequate for ordinary snapshots but limited in flexibility, particularly when compared with phones that provide multiple useful focal lengths. Low-light results, moving subjects and distant details are the scenarios where the simple setup is most likely to disappoint. The camera observations are detailed in the Gadgets 360 review and the 91mobiles review.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Software is another consideration. Reviewers noted preinstalled apps and recommendation content. These may be removable or disableable in some cases, but they make the first-run experience less clean than near-stock Android. Buyers who want a minimal setup should budget time to uninstall, disable or decline optional recommendations. The 91mobiles buy/skip analysis also identifies this camera-and-software trade-off in its buy/skip assessment.

Which India configuration should you consider?
The official store lists three memory and storage combinations: 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB. RAM affects how many apps can remain active before they reload; storage determines how much room you have for photos, downloads and games. Because realme’s stable-frame-rate qualification applies to 6GB-and-higher variants, the 6GB models are the safer choice if you game or multitask heavily.
| Configuration | Best suited to | Decision note |
|---|---|---|
| 4GB+128GB | Calls, messaging, light browsing and streaming | Choose only if the lower memory tier is clearly cheaper and your app use is modest. |
| 6GB+128GB | General use with more frequent app switching | A balanced option when you do not need a large offline media library. |
| 6GB+256GB | Games, downloaded video, photos and longer ownership | Extra storage is useful because the phone does not offer the camera versatility of a dedicated photography model. |
Check the exact price for the same tier before comparing offers. A cheaper 4GB model and a more expensive 6GB model are not equivalent purchases.
Price, launch context and what is in the box
On the research date, the realme India store displayed the 4GB+128GB model at ₹28,999 and also showed the 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB options. The store displayed promotional offers, so treat any discount or bundled benefit as temporary rather than a permanent list price. A Gadgets 360 price listing dated 13 October 2026 also reported ₹28,999 as the lowest Amazon India price at that time. Seller, stock and configuration can change, so verify the checkout total for the exact variant you want.

The official packing list includes a protective case, charger, USB data cable, SIM ejector tool and quick guide. You therefore do not need to purchase a generic case immediately. If you replace it, confirm that the case is specifically compatible with the realme 16x 5G rather than relying on a similar-looking model name.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Setup detail that can prevent a sensor problem
realme says the light-sensor opening is hidden at the top of the screen to make the front of the phone more compact. The company warns that a dark or poorly transmitting screen protector can block that opening. If automatic brightness behaves strangely after applying a protector, remove it temporarily or use a protector designed to leave the sensor area unobstructed. This is a small installation detail, but it can prevent a confusing brightness fault.
How to decide before you pay
- Confirm your configuration. Compare prices for 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB separately; do not compare a headline price with a different memory tier.
- Look at text on the display. Open a web page with small type or a detailed photo. Decide whether HD+ sharpness is acceptable at 6.8 inches.
- Match your games to the chipset. Casual titles should be fine, while demanding games may require reduced settings and can show frame drops.
- List your camera needs. If you regularly use ultrawide landscapes, optical zoom or flexible travel photography, the single 50MP rear camera is a poor fit.
- Allow time for cleanup. Remove or disable unwanted preinstalled apps and recommendation prompts if you prefer a leaner home screen.
- Check the live offer. Confirm seller, stock, warranty terms, included charger and the final price at checkout because online listings change.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it?
Buy it if endurance is your first priority
The realme 16x 5G makes the most sense for someone who wants a large battery, smooth-feeling navigation and competent everyday performance without paying for a multi-camera system or a high-resolution panel. The reviewed endurance result supports its all-day-plus positioning, while the Dimensity 6300 handles routine work without excessive heat in the cited testing.
Skip it if the screen, camera or software matters more
Choose another phone if you read dense text for hours, watch high-resolution video, need ultrawide or telephoto perspectives, play demanding games at high settings, or expect a clean software installation. Those are structural limitations, not settings that a future update can fully remove.
Final verdict
At the India prices observed in October 2026, the realme 16x 5G is a battery-first recommendation, not an all-round specification leader. Its 7,000mAh cell, 45W charging and 144Hz motion make it attractive for endurance-focused everyday use. The 720p display, basic 50MP camera and preinstalled software are the reasons to walk away. Buy the 6GB version when multitasking or gaming matters, and only proceed with any configuration after checking that the large, lower-resolution screen matches your priorities.
