Our verdict on Planforge
Planforge is a hybrid project and portfolio management platform for organizations coordinating traditional, agile, Jira, and SAFe work. It brings project execution, portfolio analysis, resource and capacity planning, program management, strategic objectives, idea management, status reporting, and cost control into one product. Teams can deploy it as a hosted cloud service or on-premises server deployment, while the Free plan provides cloud access for up to four users.
Its strongest fit is breadth across portfolio decision-making and delivery management. Portfolio analysis includes configurable scoring, ranking, and bubble charts, while dashboards cover KPIs, status, effort, costs, and risks. Project intake supports idea submission, rating, and prioritization. Resource allocation, utilization monitoring, capacity planning, and what-if scenarios support planning decisions, and program management connects sub-projects and cross-project dependencies. Hybrid planning adds WBS and Gantt views, with time, cost, plan-versus-actual, variance tracking, traffic-light status reporting, and portfolio overviews for ongoing control.
Planforge also has a broad ecosystem fit, with integrations for Jira, SAP, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, and external systems through a GraphQL API. The Free plan is the clearest entry point, while Lean adds project work management and supports cloud or on-premises deployment. Professional adds project, program, and portfolio management, and Enterprise adds Single Sign-On. Choose Planforge when portfolio prioritization, intake, capacity, dependencies, and hybrid planning need to coexist. Teams needing only lightweight project tracking may find this scope broader than necessary.
