About this tool
Paste an original and a changed version — a contract clause, a config file, code, a list, two drafts of an article — and the tool marks every line that was added in green and every line that was removed in red, with counts of each. Unchanged lines stay in place, so you can read the change in context.
The comparison uses Myers' diff algorithm, the one behind git diff, which finds the smallest set of added and removed lines that turns the first text into the second. Two options help with messy input: ignore case, and ignore differences in spacing (runs of spaces and tabs, and spaces at the ends of lines), so reformatting does not hide the real edits.
Both texts stay in your browser — nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for private documents. Each side can hold up to 20,000 lines.
