This Itechguide teaches you how to upload photos to Google Drive. The guide covers steps to upload photos to Google Drive from Android, iPhone or PC.
Option 1: Upload Photos from Android
By default, Google Drive for Android App is configured to only allow uploads from WiFi. If your mobile device is not on WiFi, change this setting before you proceed – tap the 3 lines on the top left of the App and select Settings. Scroll down to Data usage and turn the Transfer files only over Wi-Fi from On to Off.
- Open the Google Drive App on your Android phone. Then, login to the App with your Google Account.
- Tap the + sign at the bottom right of the App. A set of options will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
- From the displayed options, to upload photos to Google Drive from Android, tap Upload.
- Recent images will be displayed by default. To upload an image from the list, tap the image. It will start uploading immediately. To see the upload progress, at the bottom right of the App, tap the Files tab.
- Other than Recent folder, you could also upload photos from other folders.
- To display other photo selection options, on the top left of the screen, tap the 3 lines. Then select Images.

Option 2: Upload Photos from iPhone
- Open Google Drive App on your iPhone. Then, sign in with your Google Account.
- At the bottom right of the App, tap the Files tap.
- Then, tap the + sign at the bottom right of the App. The Create new option will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
- Finally, to upload photos to Google Drive from iPhone, from the Create new displayed options, tap Upload. A tiny set of 2 options will be displayed right at the bottom of the screen.
- From the new displayed options, tap Photos and Videos. All Albums on your iPhone will open.
- Tap an album to open it.
- When the album opens, select all the photos you want to upload – to select a photo, tap it once. After selecting all the photos you want to upload, at the top right of the screen, tap UPLOAD.
Option 3: Upload Photos from a PC Browser
- Open Drive.Google.com from a browser on your PC. Then, sign in with your Google Account.
- At the top left of the page, click New. A list of upload options will be displayed.
- From the displayed options, click File upload.
- Finally, to upload photos to Google Drive from a PC, navigate to the location of the photo and double-click it.
- The photo will start uploading – an upload progress bar will also be diaplayed at the bottom right of the page.
