How to Search for a Word in Google Docs from a PC (Docs.Google.com)
- Open Docs.Google.com from a browser on your PC. Then sign in with your Google Account.
- From Google Docs homepage, open your saved document.
- On the document’s menu, click Edit. Then, from the displayed options, click Find and Replace. Find and Replace pop up will be displayed.
- To search for a word in Google Docs, in the Find box of the pop up window, type the word you want to search for.
- If the word exists in the document, the right side of the box will display how many of the words exists in the document (in my example, the word was found 2 times). So, it displayed 1 of 2 – meaning that the first reference of the word is already highlighted.
- To find the next reference, at the bottom right of the pop up, click Next.
How to Search for a Word in Google Docs from Android or iPhone
- Open Google Docs App on your Android phone or iPhone.
- Then open the Google Docs document you want to work on. If you worked on the document recently, it will be listed under Last opened by me…
- Tap the document’s menu icon (3 dots on the top right of the screen). A set of options will be displayed.
- From the displayed options, tap Find and Replace. A search box will open on the top left of the document.
- To search for a word in Google Docs, type the word you want to search for into the Find box.
- Then, at the bottom right of your phone’s keyboard, tap the search icon (in an Android phone), or tap Search (in an iPhone).
- Once you tap search icon or Search, the App will display the number of times the word you searched for was found in the document. The words will also be highlighted in green.
