How to Repost on Facebook

This Itechguide teaches you how to repost on Facebook. The guide offers steps to repost on Facebook from the Facebook Mobile App or from a PC.

You cannot repost posts on your own timeline. However, you can repost Facebook posts on a Friend’s timeline or a Facebook page.

Option 1: Repost Through a PC

  • Open Facebook.com from your PC and login with your Facebook account.
  • Then locate the post you want to repost or share – you can repost on another person’s timeline. You could also repost on a Facebook page.
  • Scroll down beneath the post. On the right side of the post, beside Comment button, click Share.
This example demos how to repost a post from a friend’s timeline. If you want to repost from a Facebook page, see the steps below.
How to Repost on Facebook from a PC
  • When you click Share, you will be presented with share options. To proceed, select an option. If you want to modify the share settings, from the options click Share.
How to Repost on Facebook from a PC
  • The post will display in a pop up window – allowing you to modify where it is shared, and whether it will be shared to Public, your friends, etc. After modifying the post share details, click Post.

  • To repost on Facebook from a Facebook page, open the page and locate the post you want to repost. Scroll down beneath the post and click Share.
  • Then from the list of Share options, select one. If you want to repost to your timeline, click Share.
  • On the top left of Post pop up, click the drop-down and select where you want to repost the post. In this example, I want to repost to my timeline. Then, beneath the post, select who will see your post – default will depend on your Privacy setting. When you finish, click Post.

Option 2: Repost via the App

If you use Facebook App, here are steps to repost an existing post…

  • Open the Facebook App on your phone.

  • Then locate the post you want to repost.
You can repost a post from another person’s timeline. Or a post from a Facebook page. You CANNOT repost a post from your personal timeline.
  • Scroll beneath the post and tab Share.
  • To repost the post without making any modifications, click SHARE NOW.
  • Alternatively, you could modify the post before reposting it. As an example, you can click the Facebook drop-down for more share options – see the second image below.
  • You could also determine who sees the post by clicking the Public drop-down. Here are the options available…
Depending on your Privacy Settings, you may have Friends where I have Public in the previous image.
