This Itechguide teaches you how to follow someone on Facebook. The guide covers steps to follow someone on Facebook from a PC or the Facebook App.
When you become friends with someone on Facebook, you automatically Follow the person. If you send a friend’s request to someone who allows everybody to follow them, you will automatically follow the person’s post.
Some Facebook users may not have the Follow button, unless they allow everyone (public) to follow them. Most public figures (celebrities and politicians) will likely allow everyone to follow them.
Option 1: Follow Someone Using a PC
- Open Facebook.com and login with your Facebook account.
- Then on the top left of Facebook News Feed, enter the person’s name into the search box and select it from the search results. In this example, I want to Follow Barack Obama.
- From the results displayed, click on the person’s profile. To display only people in the result, click People.
- When the person’s Facebook profile opens, beneath the profile picture, click Follow. The button will change from Follow to Following. To unfollow the person, hover over the arrow beside Following button. Then click Unfollow this page.
Option 2: Follow Someone via the App
The steps in this section was performed from the Facebook App for Android but it can also be used for the iPhone App.
- Open the Facebook App on your phone.
- Then, on the top right of the App, tap the search icon.
- When the Facebook search box opens, type the name of the person you want to follow. When you start typing the name, Facebook will display options. Tap on the most suitable option. This will return results.
- From the list, tap on the person you want to follow. The person’s Facebook profile will open.
- Finally, beneath the person’s profile picture, tap the 3 dots. Then, from the displayed options, tap Follow.
- Some users may have the Follow button directly beneath their profile picture.
