BrenX says its 32 MWh bGen thermal-energy-storage system at Tempo Beverages produced approximately 85 tons of steam per operating day during commissioning on October 15, 2026. That is above the approximately 70 tons per operating day used in the project’s financial model, but it is not yet proof of sustained commercial operation, full boiler replacement, or recurring revenue.
How the commissioning output compares with the project baseline
The reported 85 tons per operating day is about 15 tons above the modelled baseline of 70 tons, or roughly 21% higher on a like-for-like daily basis. BrenX’s model used approximately 19,000 tons of steam annually, a figure tied to the 70-ton daily assumption rather than to a validated long-term production record.
| Measure | Reported figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Steam during commissioning | Approximately 85 tons per operating day | BrenX report dated October 15, 2026; preliminary result |
| Project-model baseline | Approximately 70 tons per operating day | Financial-model assumption reported by BrenX |
| Modelled annual volume | Approximately 19,000 tons | Based on the project financial model |
| Tempo’s reported demand | Approximately 90–100 tons per operating day | Facility consumption range reported by BrenX |
| System capacity | 32 MWh | bGen thermal-energy-storage installation at Tempo |
Tempo’s stated demand is approximately 90–100 tons per operating day. The arithmetic gap between the commissioning figure and that range is therefore about 5–15 tons per day, but that is only a comparison with reported demand. It should not be read as evidence that the system has already met, or is consistently meeting, the facility’s full requirement.
What the bGen system is designed to do
BrenX describes bGen as a thermal-energy-storage platform. It converts electricity into heat, stores that heat in crushed rock, and dispatches steam, hot water, or hot air when the industrial process needs it. At Tempo, the equipment is engineered to provide continuous process steam and replace heat from fossil-fuel boilers.

A first-of-its-kind operating test for the company
BrenX has described the Tempo installation as its first large-scale industrial thermal-energy-storage deployment intended to replace 100% of on-site fossil-boiler steam production after validation. That objective makes commissioning more demanding than a project that merely supplements an existing boiler. The company’s chairman and chief executive, Avi Brenmiller, said the start-up phase is intended to demonstrate reliability and operational consistency under real industrial conditions before the approach is scaled.
How Tempo fits the wider deployment portfolio
The 32 MWh Tempo project is larger than the 12 MWh bGen system BrenX identified at Wolfson Medical Center in its September 2026 announcement. BrenX has also outlined a broader energy-infrastructure model combining thermal storage with renewable generation, battery storage, grid connectivity, energy-management services, asset ownership, and operations and maintenance.

Has BrenX proved that the output is sustainable?
No. The 85-ton figure comes from commissioning, when equipment is being started, tuned, and tested. BrenX has not yet confirmed a sustained steady-state production period, long-term availability, or consistent output across changing plant loads. Those are the measurements needed to establish that the system can serve as a dependable primary steam source.

- Consistent steam production over an extended operating period rather than a single commissioning result.
- Reliable operation while Tempo runs its normal industrial schedule and demand profile.
- Performance sufficient to replace the intended share of fossil-boiler capacity without relying on unreported backup heat.
- Operating and maintenance results that support the project’s commercial assumptions.
BrenX’s June 2026 release said the project is expected to eliminate approximately 6,200 tons of carbon dioxide annually, but that estimate is conditional on successful validation and operation. It is not a verified emissions reduction achieved during the commissioning report.

What the milestone could mean for revenue
The project includes a contracted minimum, commonly described as a take-or-pay level, that underpins the original financial model. Because commissioning output was above the modelled 70-ton daily baseline, BrenX said steam sold above the contracted minimum could create revenue beyond that baseline assumption if the higher output is sustained and Tempo takes the additional steam.
That statement describes upside potential, not revenue guidance. The October 15 announcement does not establish how many days the system will operate at 85 tons, what final contracted volume will apply, what price each additional ton will receive, or whether all production above the minimum will be saleable. Revenue recognition therefore depends on validated operation, customer demand, contract terms, and the eventual ownership and operating arrangement.

How to interpret the announcement
- Separate output from validation. Treat 85 tons per operating day as a preliminary commissioning result, not a proven run rate.
- Keep the baseline in view. The result exceeds the 70-ton model assumption, but the model’s approximately 19,000-ton annual figure remains an assumption until operating data supports it.
- Compare with actual plant demand carefully. Tempo’s 90–100-ton range indicates the system is approaching the facility’s reported need, while the 5–15-ton gap is an inference rather than achieved production.
- Wait for commercial evidence. Additional revenue and the expected 6,200-ton annual CO2 reduction both depend on successful commissioning, validation, and ongoing operation.
The milestone is significant because it suggests the system may be capable of exceeding the minimum volume used to underwrite the project. The decisive evidence will be a documented period of dependable operation at industrial scale, followed by confirmation of how much fossil-boiler demand and contracted steam volume the system actually replaces.
