The best laptop for PUBG is not defined by a single graphics-card name. Start with the game’s target tier, then verify the exact mobile GPU configuration, cooling system, memory, storage, and display in the specific laptop SKU. For most players, a Windows laptop with 16 GB of RAM, a discrete GPU, an SSD, and a high-refresh display is the sensible starting point. Competitive players should prioritize sustained high frame rates and a high-refresh panel, while streamers and creators may benefit from 32 GB of RAM.
PUBG’s published requirements use desktop processor and graphics-card models. They are useful reference points, but they do not prove that a laptop carrying a similarly named mobile GPU will deliver a particular frame rate. No laptop was benchmarked for this guide, so the recommendations below focus on selecting and comparing configurations without inventing performance numbers.
What laptop do I need to play PUBG?
Choose according to how you intend to play:
- Basic PUBG play: Meet or exceed the official minimum, but treat it as a compatibility floor rather than a smooth-gameplay guarantee.
- Regular gaming at higher settings: Use PUBG’s recommended 16 GB memory tier as a baseline and choose a modern discrete laptop GPU with adequate cooling.
- Competitive play: Aim for the competitive specification class, a high-refresh display, and a configuration designed to sustain high frame rates.
- Gaming plus streaming or creative applications: Start at 16 GB, then consider 32 GB if you will stream, edit, create content, or keep several demanding applications open.
The exact GPU model, its power limit, the laptop’s thermal design, and the display resolution all matter. Two laptops with the same advertised GPU name can be configured differently, so compare complete specifications rather than a headline component.

Why desktop requirements do not translate directly to laptops
The graphics cards named by PUBG are desktop-class references. A laptop GPU with a similar family or model number is not automatically equivalent: mobile versions can have different power limits, clock behavior, cooling constraints, and memory configurations. The published requirements do not establish a one-to-one desktop-to-mobile comparison.
When comparing laptops, record the exact GPU designation and, where the manufacturer provides it, the GPU power specification. A higher power configuration can behave differently from a lower-power version carrying the same broad GPU name. Cooling also affects whether the system can maintain performance during a long match rather than only during a short burst.

What to check on the graphics specification
- Full mobile GPU name, not just the laptop family or a generic “RTX” label.
- Dedicated video-memory capacity and memory type.
- GPU power limit or TGP when listed by the manufacturer.
- Whether the GPU is discrete rather than integrated.
- Cooling hardware, vent layout, and whether performance modes are documented for that chassis.
- Which display output drives the internal panel and external monitors, if you plan to use one.
Do not convert these details into a promised PUBG frame rate without a relevant test using the same laptop configuration, game settings, resolution, and driver environment. The available evidence does not provide such laptop benchmarks.
How much RAM should a PUBG laptop have?
Sixteen gigabytes is the clearest baseline. PUBG lists 8 GB as minimum and 16 GB as recommended. A laptop with only 8 GB may launch the game, but that is the compatibility floor and leaves less headroom for Windows, voice chat, browsers, updates, or recording tools.
Thirty-two gigabytes makes sense when PUBG is only one of several workloads. Dell’s current gaming-laptop guidance identifies 32 GB as potentially beneficial for streaming, content creation, or multiple applications alongside games. It is not a requirement for every PUBG player.
Check upgradeability before buying
- Confirm whether the laptop uses replaceable SO-DIMMs, soldered memory, or a mixture.
- Check the maximum supported capacity and the number of accessible slots for the exact regional SKU.
- Verify the memory type and speed before purchasing an upgrade kit.
- If you plan to move from 16 GB to 32 GB, confirm that the existing modules can be replaced or that an empty slot is available.
Do not assume that a product family has the same memory layout in every country. The precise model number matters.
CPU, storage, and operating-system requirements
Processor
PUBG’s minimum and recommended processors are older desktop references, but they establish the game’s published floor and target classes. For a new laptop, compare the exact mobile CPU, core configuration, power envelope, and cooling design rather than buying solely by the number in the product name. A processor that can sustain its speed under load is more useful than a specification that looks strong only in a short burst.

Storage
PUBG lists 40 GB of available storage at minimum and 50 GB at the recommended level. Those figures describe the game’s stated requirement, not the total space Windows, drivers, updates, recordings, and other games will consume. Choose an SSD with room beyond the installation figure, and verify whether the laptop has a second drive slot or an accessible replacement path if your library will grow.
Operating system and connectivity
The listed requirements specify Windows 10 and a broadband internet connection. Confirm that the laptop is sold with a supported Windows edition and that its wireless or wired networking meets your home setup. Wi-Fi quality, router placement, and local network congestion can affect online play independently of the laptop’s graphics hardware.
Resolution and refresh rate: match the panel to your goal
A high-refresh display is most valuable when the laptop can render enough frames to use it. PUBG Support explicitly connects its competitive specification class with high fps and a high-refresh monitor. Buying a 240 Hz panel while the chosen configuration cannot sustain high output wastes part of the display’s potential; choosing a slow panel for a genuinely competitive setup can limit what the hardware can show.

FHD and higher resolutions
Full HD or a closely related resolution is usually the easier target for high-refresh gaming because it places less rendering load on the GPU than a higher-resolution panel. Higher resolutions can provide a sharper desktop and image, but they require more graphics work. Decide whether your priority is competitive responsiveness, image detail, or a balance of both before comparing models.
A real configuration example
ASUS lists a TUF Gaming 16 (2026) configuration with an NVIDIA RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB of GDDR7 memory, and a 16-inch FHD+ 1920 × 1200 display running at 144 Hz. This demonstrates that a current laptop class combines a discrete mobile GPU with a high-refresh panel. It is a specification example, not a tested PUBG recommendation, and availability differs by region and configuration.
Cooling and chassis design are performance specifications
Gaming laptops share the CPU and GPU’s heat budget with a compact chassis. During a long match, fans, heat pipes, vents, firmware limits, and the power adapter all influence sustained behavior. A thin design may be easier to carry, while a larger chassis may provide more room for cooling and upgrades.
Look for independent intake and exhaust paths, unobstructed vents when the laptop is on a desk, and a performance mode documented by the manufacturer. Read the exact weight and dimensions if you travel often. A machine that is powerful on paper but uncomfortable to carry or difficult to keep cool may not suit your routine.

- Define your play style. Choose basic play, higher-frame-rate gaming, competitive use, or gaming plus streaming and creation.
- Set the display target. Record the native resolution and refresh rate you actually want. Do not treat a high refresh rate as proof of in-game performance.
- Write down the complete GPU description. Include mobile model, video-memory capacity, and power specification when available.
- Confirm memory. Prefer at least 16 GB for a new PUBG laptop; consider 32 GB for simultaneous streaming, content creation, or many applications.
- Check the CPU and cooling system. Compare the exact processor and chassis design, not only the series name.
- Verify storage. Leave practical room beyond PUBG’s 40–50 GB published figures and check expansion options.
- Inspect upgradeability. Confirm RAM and SSD access on the exact SKU, including regional variations.
- Compare portability and warranty. Record weight, charger size, local warranty coverage, and service options.
- Check the final price locally. Laptop configurations and prices change by market; use the price shown for the exact model you can actually purchase.
- Look for relevant testing. If a seller or reviewer quotes frame rates, check that the test identifies the same GPU power configuration, resolution, settings, drivers, and game version.
Configuration classes to consider
| Use case | Memory starting point | Graphics approach | Display approach | Important checks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional PUBG and general gaming | 16 GB preferred | Discrete mobile GPU that clearly exceeds the minimum reference class | FHD-class panel; choose refresh rate according to the performance you expect | SSD capacity, cooling, and upgradeability |
| Frequent gaming and higher-refresh play | 16 GB | Modern discrete GPU with a documented power configuration and suitable cooling | 144 Hz or another refresh rate matched to the intended output | Thermal behavior, CPU sustained performance, and exact panel resolution |
| Competitive PUBG | 32 GB is the published competitive figure | Configuration in the competitive reference class, recognizing that PUBG names desktop GPUs | High-refresh monitor or laptop panel | Sustained high-fps capability must be verified by relevant testing; do not infer it from the GPU name |
| Gaming plus streaming or creative work | 32 GB may provide useful headroom | Discrete GPU selected for the target resolution and application workload | High refresh for play, with resolution chosen for work as well | Memory upgrade path, storage expansion, ports, and cooling under combined workloads |
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Mistake: treating minimum requirements as a recommendation
The 8 GB and GTX 960/R7 370 class is PUBG’s minimum, and the support page warns that minimum hardware may not provide the smoothest gameplay. Use it to determine basic compatibility, not as your preferred target for a new purchase.
Mistake: assuming a mobile GPU equals its desktop namesake
Desktop GPU names in the requirement list do not establish laptop equivalence. Require the exact mobile specification, power information, and credible testing before making a performance judgment.
Mistake: buying a fast panel without enough rendering performance
Refresh rate is a capability of the display, not a guarantee that the game will reach it. Match the panel to the output your chosen configuration can sustain.

A listing may advertise 16 GB without making clear whether the memory is replaceable or soldered. Confirm the upgrade path before treating future expansion as certain.
Mistake: comparing different resolutions as though they were identical
GPU load changes with resolution. Record the native panel resolution beside the GPU and refresh rate so that comparisons remain like-for-like.
Mistake: ignoring the charger and thermal profile
Gaming performance can depend on being plugged in and on the laptop’s performance mode. Check the power adapter, ventilation, and documented operating modes rather than judging the chassis by appearance alone.
How to prepare a new laptop for PUBG
- Install pending Windows, graphics, and system-firmware updates before your first serious session.
- Confirm that the game is installed on the intended SSD and that sufficient free space remains for updates.
- Use the manufacturer’s documented performance mode when gaming, with the laptop on a hard surface and its vents clear.
- Set the game’s resolution to the panel’s native mode first, then adjust image quality and frame-rate options to your goal.
- Choose a frame-rate target that makes sense for the display’s refresh rate instead of selecting a number the hardware cannot sustain.
- Close unnecessary background applications when troubleshooting stutter, and test one change at a time.
- If behavior is inconsistent, record the exact resolution, settings, power mode, driver version, and whether the charger was connected before seeking support.
When a laptop is the wrong choice
A laptop is valuable when you need portability, a built-in screen, or one computer for work and gaming. A desktop may offer easier upgrades and a larger cooling envelope, but that is a different buying decision. If you never travel and want to replace individual components over time, compare the total system cost and upgrade priorities before committing to a laptop.
Bottom line
For most PUBG players, select a Windows gaming laptop with 16 GB of RAM, a discrete mobile GPU chosen for the target resolution, an SSD with practical free space, and a display whose refresh rate matches the performance you intend to sustain. Move to 32 GB for competitive specifications or serious multitasking. Treat PUBG’s desktop GPU requirements as reference tiers, verify the exact laptop configuration and cooling system, and never read a guaranteed frame rate into a component name alone.
