AdvancedMD offers two different ways to handle medical billing: software your practice team uses to manage the work in-house, and managed revenue cycle management (RCM), in which AdvancedMD’s team performs billing tasks. Its public pricing page lists managed RCM at 4–8% of collections, but a practice’s actual rate and total cost require a custom quote.
What you are buying: billing software or managed RCM
With AdvancedMD’s billing software, your staff retain responsibility for the revenue cycle and use the platform to manage it. The vendor describes tools for eligibility checks, claims scrubbing, dashboards, denial tracking, accounts-receivable worklists, payment posting, and reporting. With managed RCM, AdvancedMD says its team handles claims submission, payment posting, denial management, unpaid claims, appeals, and related billing work. AdvancedMD says RCM customers receive the core software platform at no additional charge. See AdvancedMD’s medical billing overview and RCM service description.
| Option | Who does the billing work? | Public pricing model |
|---|---|---|
| Billing software | Your practice team manages claims, denials, posting, and follow-up using the platform. | Monthly subscription or per-claim pricing, depending on the offering and configuration. |
| Managed RCM | AdvancedMD’s service team performs the covered revenue-cycle tasks. | Typically a percentage of monthly collections; the public range is 4–8%. |
How much does AdvancedMD cost?
AdvancedMD’s public pricing page, reviewed in 2026, presents several pricing models. These are vendor-published ranges, not a quote for a particular practice. Specialty, features, practice size, complexity, and claim volume can affect the applicable price. Confirm the configuration and full charges in a written proposal. The pricing page is the source for the figures below.
Managed RCM: 4–8% of collections
AdvancedMD lists managed RCM at 4–8% of collections. Its RCM page describes the typical basis as a percentage of monthly collections and says the service includes software access, reporting, claims handling, and payer follow-up. The public pages do not define the precise collections calculation for an individual contract or establish whether minimums, excluded work, or other charges apply. Ask for those details in writing before comparing the percentage with a fixed software subscription.

Software subscriptions by specialty
The pricing FAQ publishes these monthly software ranges per provider. AdvancedMD defines a provider for this pricing as a mid-level clinician or higher, and notes that features affect pricing.
| Specialty or category | Published software price | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Medical specialties | $429–$1,070 per provider per month | Vendor-published range; varies by features. |
| Mental health | $130–$399 per provider per month | Vendor-published range; varies by features. |
| Physical medicine and addiction medicine | $399 per provider per month | Published figure; confirm applicable configuration. |
| MedSpa | $278 per provider per month | Published figure; confirm applicable configuration. |
These are software prices, not the percentage charged for managed RCM, and they should not be treated as an all-in quote.
Rank #2
Per-claim software pricing
For practices considering encounter pricing, AdvancedMD lists $0.87–$1.74 per claim for practice management and $1.08–$2.17 per claim for practice management with EHR. AdvancedMD says this model may suit lower-volume practices and suggests practices averaging 250–500 claims monthly may find it more cost-effective than a flat subscription. That is vendor guidance, not an independent break-even calculation. The right choice depends on actual claim volume and the modules a practice needs.

AdvancedMD lists a $229–$1,070 monthly subscription range for billing companies, based on the number of clients managed, with possible volume discounts. This is software for a billing service company; it is not the fee for outsourcing a medical practice’s RCM. AdvancedMD also describes AdvancedBiller partner resources such as premium support, co-branded marketing, and a marketplace listing. The cited pages do not establish referral commissions or current enrollment eligibility. More detail is on the billing service software pricing page.

What a quote needs to clarify
The public ranges do not establish the contract terms or total cost for a specific practice. Ask AdvancedMD to specify the following in the proposal and order form:
- For percentage-based RCM, exactly what counts as collections, including whether patient payments and prior-period accounts receivable are included.
- Any minimum fees, excluded tasks, transaction charges, add-ons, or other charges beyond the stated percentage.
- Who handles payer enrollment, denials, appeals, and follow-up, and which tasks remain with your staff.
- Setup, training, renewal, cancellation, and contract terms, including how fees or responsibilities change when the agreement ends.
- What data will migrate, what the migration costs, and how records can be accessed or exported if service ends.
Onboarding and migration charges
AdvancedMD lists onboarding timelines of about 90 days for software and 6–8 weeks for RCM. Its published setup fees range from free to $1,000 for smaller practices and up to $6,000 for more complex enterprise clients. The pricing page also lists practice-management migration prices of $800, $1,200, and $2,000 for three data tiers. Those migration tiers exclude financial transaction history; clinical EHR migration requires a separate quote. These are vendor-published details, so confirm the applicable fees, timeline, migration scope, and exclusions in the order form.

How to decide between a subscription, per-claim pricing, and managed RCM
Start with the work your practice wants to retain, then compare costs using the same assumptions. A software subscription or per-claim model leaves billing operations with your team; managed RCM shifts covered tasks to AdvancedMD’s staff and prices them as a share of collections. Compare the total quoted cost against the staff time and responsibilities that would remain under each option.

- Use your own volumes. Estimate monthly claims and collections from your practice’s records. For per-claim pricing, apply the quoted rate to the claim volume and confirm what counts as a billable claim.
- Define the RCM base. Request a written example showing how the percentage applies to your collections, including patient payments and older receivables.
- Include one-time and ongoing costs. Add setup, migration, training, add-ons, transaction charges, and any minimum fees to the comparison.
- Check the exit path. Confirm cancellation terms, access to records, export costs, and what happens to unresolved claims and accounts receivable.
If you compare AdvancedMD with another billing or RCM provider, use the same claim sample, payer mix, specialty, and collection definition for every quote. Otherwise, headline percentages and per-claim rates may not be comparable.

What customer reviews can—and cannot—tell you
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) review page displayed an average of 1 from six customer reviews when accessed in 2026. Posts included customer allegations about billing errors, support difficulties, cancellation problems, and difficulty obtaining records. AdvancedMD responded to some posts, including disputing part of a cancellation account and offering temporary record access. These are individual allegations and company responses, not independently established findings. Six self-selected reviews do not show how typical those experiences are. You can read the BBB customer reviews and responses for context.
A Capterra search-result summary surfaced mixed themes, including ease of electronic claim submission as well as concerns about navigation, support, and subscription cost. The page was not available for review here, so no current rating, review count, or broader conclusion can be established from that summary.
