Acer hasn’t always been a brand to feature in gaming laptops debates until recent times. And it’s even planting its feet firmly in the gaming world with the incredible Acer Predator Triton 500.
Since its first universally acclaimed product release, Acer has further updated the Acer Predator Triton 500. Also, Acer has stuck with the conventional design blueprint for gaming laptops but with a touch of resourcefulness and more power pack.
The Acer Predator Triton 500 packs a bunch of powerful specs in its fantastic compact build. Moreover, the laptop’s performance with the specs makes it even more impressive.
Acer Predator Triton 500: Design, Dimension, and Weight
Acer built Predator Triton 500 with mostly black aluminum and a little mix of plastic. It has neatly blunted edges, which are friendly with the wrists.

Acer built the lid of the laptop majorly with plastic, so it is quite soft. In contrast, the keyboard deck is constructed in aluminum and has a much better reinforcement than the lid.
The keyboard is also lowered towards the laptop’s middle to leave the top for the air grills. The computer also features a standard glass trackpad.
But the touchpad is relatively small.
Furthermore, with a 17.90 x 358.5 x 255 mm dimension and a weight of 2000 g, the Acer Predator Triton 500 is compact and lightweight. This dimension and weight are comparatively impressive for a gaming laptop.
Moreover, the Acer Predator Triton 500 is one of the thinnest entries in its class, and it offers very slim bezels. The Acer Predator Triton 500 still has the power lit logo, but without the Acer branding – so it looks neater.
The Acer Predator Triton 500 is barely different from its previous model in terms of design. Everything from its metal lid to the port selection, the thunderbolt 3, and even its logo are all the same.
However, there are some updates like the RGB backlit keyboard instead of the previous zonal keyboard. You can change the color of any key to any color you want.
Aside from the little changes, it still offers the same excellent port selection. Acer Predator Triton 500 offers an HDMI port, 1 display port, 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, 1 USB Gen 2 port, 1 USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, an RJ-45 Ethernet jack, a power jack, and an Audio Jack.

Acer Predator Triton 500: Processor (CPU) Performance
The Acer Predator Triton 500 features a 6-Core Intel Core i7-10750H. Unlike the Core i7-9750H, this 10th-generation CPU has a higher clock rate of 5.0Hz instead of 4.5GHz.

Just like you would expect, this laptop handles productivity tasks with ease. The Core i7 CPU gives the Acer Predator Triton 500 plenty of power to edit videos or perform any design operation smoothly.
The machine’s considerably high clock speed enables it to double up in performance to handle heavy tasks. But like many laptops, the CPU’s performance tends to reduce when under heavy load for a longer duration.

You can overclock the CPU to deliver some extra juice. But doing this kicks the fans into overdrive resulting in a loud noise.
The Acer Predator Triton 500 tends to perform much better in favor of the GPU. Nonetheless, its CPU performance is good.
Finally, the Acer Predator Triton 500 scored 1,190 in a single-core and 5,805 in a multi-core Geekbench test. Therefore, it achieves an 8 in this CPU review because it is suitable for cumbersome workloads.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 offers 32 GB of DDR4 SDRAM. However, you can upgrade its RAM.
To upgrade this machine’s RAM, you would have to take out its motherboard. But the laptop’s warranty becomes void when if you do so – hence, the Acer Predator Triton 500 is one of the least upgradeable laptops of its range.
Nonetheless, with 32 GB RAM it has just enough power to handle everyday tasks smoothly. Multitasking on the laptop is also very swift and without hiccups.
Besides, it efficiently supports workflows without hanging or lagging at all. The Acer Predator Triton 500 had no problem working in between word processors, multiple web pages and music streaming on Soundcloud.
Also, it edited videos smoothly with several Chrome tabs open. It scores a 9 in this review for its superb RAM performance.
Acer Predator Triton 500: Storage Options and Performance
The Acer Predator Triton 500 comes with 512 GB SSD. In addition to that, Acer offers additional storage configuration option.
Just like you would expect, this laptop’s 512 GB SSD performs excellently. It was able to copy 4.97GB of mixed data at a transfer rate of 1,403 MBps.
The data transfer speed is an impressive record considering that it exceeded the performance of most premium gaming laptop’s average of 1,207 MBps.
It also recorded an average and read speed of 1,773 MBps and write speed of 1,283 MBps in the Crystal Disks Mark test.
The Acer Predator Triton 500 storage performance might not be mind-blowing, but it sets it apart from laptops in this range. Also, the 1TB configuration option is a very tempting offer, which is fair for the price.
As a result, it scores an 8 in this review for its storage options and performance.

Acer Predator Triton 500 comes with a slightly above-average battery for a gaming laptop. It is equipped with an 85Wh battery.
The laptop lasted up to 5 hours in a battery life test when I reduced its refresh rate from 300Hz to 60Hz. But it only lasted up to 3-4 hours with web surfing and video playbacks.
However, you should expect about 5-6 hours of battery life with minimal usage.
