On manufacturer specifications, the realme 15 Pro 5G offers the faster display (144Hz against the Redmi’s up-to-120Hz), the larger typical battery (7000mAh against 6500mAh), and three 50MP rear cameras. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G offers a 200MP optically stabilised main camera, a 100W charger in the box, and a longer software support promise. The exact price difference cannot be stated yet. Neither company’s official Indian pages establish a current, like-for-like selling price for matching memory and storage configurations, so this article does not calculate one.

This is a comparison of published specifications for the India market, not hands-on testing. The figures below come from Xiaomi India’s Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G pages and realme India’s realme 15 Pro 5G product page, both accessed on 7 October 2026, plus realme’s launch announcement dated 24 July 2025.

Display: refresh rate and brightness claims

The most visible difference on paper is the refresh rate. The realme 15 Pro is advertised at 144Hz, while the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is advertised at up to 120Hz. A higher maximum refresh rate matters most in scrolling and fast animations, but only when the software actually drives the panel at that rate; the listed figure is a ceiling, not a constant. Both phones use 1.5K AMOLED-class panels according to their makers, so the resolution gap is small.

Peak brightness figures are the least comparable numbers in this table. Xiaomi cites 3200 nits, and realme cites 6500 nits of peak local brightness. These are manufacturer measurements under conditions that neither company fully specifies in the pages reviewed, and “local” brightness refers to a small highlighted area rather than full-screen output. Treat them as marketing claims that point in a direction, not as a ranking of outdoor readability.

Cameras and video

The two phones take different routes. Xiaomi puts its effort into one large main sensor: a 200MP OIS main camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/1.4-inch sensor, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide. Only one lens is listed at high resolution, so the ultra-wide is the weaker link on paper.

realme uses three 50MP cameras. Its main camera is a Sony IMX896 with OIS, and the ultra-wide is also 50MP. The headline video claim is 4K at 60fps on all lenses, plus 4K 60fps front video in product and launch material. Those are manufacturer capability statements. Neither company’s pages in this comparison show sample images, low-light results or side-by-side tests, so the camera verdict depends on which trade-off you value: a high-resolution main sensor, or a more evenly specified set of lenses with consistent 4K video.

Battery and charging

realme lists a 7000mAh typical battery with a 6830mAh rated capacity in its footnote. Xiaomi lists 6500mAh typical. Typical and rated figures are defined differently by each manufacturer, so the gap between 6500mAh and 7000mAh is a manufacturer-to-manufacturer comparison rather than a like-for-like measurement. Neither page provides a battery-life hour count.

Charging is where the two packages differ most in practical terms. The Redmi includes a 100W charger in the listed package, so the buyer does not need to buy a fast charger to reach the advertised speed. The realme is rated to 80W at maximum, and realme’s product page says: “To reach 80W (Max), the realme 80W Charger and the original charging cable must be used.” If you plan to use a third-party charger or cable, expect a lower charging rate than the headline figure. Charging time figures are not stated in the reviewed material.

Processor and performance evidence

The Redmi uses a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 built on a 4nm process with a clock of up to 2.7GHz. The realme uses a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which realme states is also 4nm. The two chips are close in class, but the names are not interchangeable, and no independent comparative benchmark, thermal test or sustained-performance test for these two phones is available in the sources reviewed. Any statement that one phone is faster in real use would go beyond the evidence.

Water and dust ratings

Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K for the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G. Its specification page cautions that: “Ingress protection is not assured if the product is subjected to environments beyond the test conditions.” realme describes the 15 Pro as IP69 and states its test conditions as static clear water at 2 metres depth for 30 minutes. Its product notes also say that damage caused by immersion is not covered by warranty.

The practical reading is that both phones are rated for water and dust resistance under specified test conditions, not for unlimited submersion, and neither rating covers wear, pool chlorine, saltwater or pressurised jets unless the maker states so. Check the warranty terms for your region before relying on a water rating for an accident.

Software and update support

Xiaomi’s India product page states that the Redmi runs HyperOS 3 and carries a promise of 4 years of OS updates plus 6 years of security updates. realme’s product page says the 15 Pro is based on Android 15. A comparable multi-year update promise is not stated on the reviewed realme India page, so the software support gap cannot be quantified for the realme side. If long support is a deciding factor, check realme’s official update policy on its India site before purchase.

Price difference: what is verified and what is not

The price question cannot be answered with an exact figure today. Xiaomi describes the Redmi as “under ₹40K” in marketing copy. That phrase is a ceiling used in advertising, not a selling price, and it does not state the memory and storage configuration it refers to. realme’s product page does not state a current price for the 15 Pro in the reviewed material. No gap is calculated here, and no price winner is named.

To produce a valid comparison, check both phones on the same day and record the following for each:

  1. Exact memory and storage configuration, since prices differ by variant.
  2. Seller and country, with the official Xiaomi India or realme India checkout page as the first reference point.
  3. List price as shown before any offer is applied.
  4. Effective price after bank, card or exchange offers, recorded as a separate line because these conditions change and may apply to only some buyers.
  5. Date and time of the check.

If the two phones are not sold in the same memory and storage configuration, state that mismatch openly rather than comparing the cheapest variant of one with the most expensive variant of the other.

Which phone fits which buyer

  • Choose the realme 15 Pro if a faster 144Hz display, the larger typical battery and consistent 4K 60fps video across three 50MP lenses matter most, and you can use an 80W charger and original cable.
  • Choose the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G if you want a 200MP main camera, a 100W charger in the box, and an explicit four-year OS plus six-year security update promise.
  • Verify both prices for the exact configuration you plan to buy before deciding on value, because the price gap is the one comparison in this article that remains open.
