Apple has not confirmed a foldable iPhone or its specifications. The Face ID and $2,500-plus claims come from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s reported forecasts, not an Apple announcement. Later 2026 coverage reported a lower possible starting price of $1,999, so neither figure should be treated as a confirmed retail price.
Would Apple’s foldable iPhone have Face ID?
In a March 2025 report, HotHardware attributed to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo a prediction that a foldable iPhone could omit Face ID because a thin design would leave limited room for the necessary components. Kuo reportedly expected Touch ID in a side button instead. MacRumors’ contemporaneous account also attributed that biometric forecast to Kuo. Neither report establishes Apple’s final design.
Those reports described a book-style foldable, opening like a small book, with an approximately 7.8-inch inner display and 5.5-inch outer display. These are reported estimates, not confirmed dimensions. (HotHardware, March 6, 2025; MacRumors, March 5, 2025)
What might it cost?
The “$2,500 or more” figure came from HotHardware’s March 2025 coverage of Kuo’s pricing expectations. It was an analyst estimate, not a listed Apple price. That report also described a broader expectation of a price above $2,000.

Later reporting did not simply confirm that estimate. Tom’s Guide reported a possible $1,999 starting price for a device it called iPhone Duo in September 2026. MacRumors’ September 2026 rumor roundup continued to describe a reported range of $2,000–$2,500. These are conflicting secondary reports about an unconfirmed product, not evidence of a final price.

When might it arrive?
The March 2025 HotHardware report said Kuo forecast a possible launch in late 2026 or early 2027. That was a schedule prediction, not a confirmed release date. Later coverage discussing an iPhone Duo remains reporting about expectations rather than an Apple product announcement.

Apple’s official iPhone overview does not substantiate the foldable-specific claims discussed here. Until Apple announces a model, its biometric system, screen sizes, price, and availability remain unconfirmed.
