For a new or single-player-focused owner, play the base-game campaigns first and wishlist Operation Torch. It is the first dedicated single-player campaign DLC for Company of Heroes 3: Relic says it has 15 missions and launches on Steam on 25 November 2026, but has not announced its price. For multiplayer, co-op, or skirmish, start with Fire & Steel if you want one battlegroup pack: it includes four battlegroups for $19.99 and has the strongest documented combination of price and review volume among the packs covered here. The key distinction: paid battlegroup DLC does not unlock new armies. All four multiplayer factions are already in the base game.

What does Company of Heroes 3 DLC actually add?
The game’s paid add-ons cover three different things: a new single-player campaign, multiplayer battlegroups, and a separate wave-survival product. They are not interchangeable, and only the campaign is a conventional story expansion.
Battlegroups add options to existing armies
A battlegroup is a supplemental command tree with its own units, abilities, and playstyle for an army you already own. Company of Heroes 3 has four multiplayer factions in its base game: US Forces, British Forces, Wehrmacht, and Deutsches Afrikakorps. Buying a battlegroup does not unlock a fifth faction or add an army to the game.
That distinction matters when you see headlines describing a pack as adding “four factions.” In Dare & Destroy, for example, the four additions are battlegroups—one for each of the four existing armies. If you are choosing DLC because you want another army, these packs do not do that.

Campaign content and Final Stand are different purchases
Operation Torch is the campaign DLC in this guide. Final Stand is a standalone survival mode, not a campaign or battlegroup pack. The base game already includes its Italian dynamic campaign and a North Africa campaign that DualShockers describes as an Afrika Korps-themed tutorial campaign.
Which Company of Heroes 3 DLC is worth buying?
Choose by the kind of play you want, not by the number of items in a bundle. For story, wait for Operation Torch’s price; for multiplayer, Fire & Steel is the clearest general-purpose pick; and for a specific army or unit fantasy, match a battlegroup to your preferred faction.
1. Fire & Steel: the strongest general-purpose battlegroup value
Fire & Steel costs $19.99 at the official price reported by GG.deals in 2026 and contains four battlegroups, one for each army. That works out to about $5 per battlegroup at list price. GG.deals, citing Steam in 2026, reported 635 reviews with 76% positive—the largest public review sample among the battlegroup packs in this guide. That is evidence of a larger sample, not proof that every player will enjoy the pack.

Choose this pack if you play multiple armies, want a super-heavy focus, or want a lower list price than the other four-battlegroup packs. GG.deals also listed a $16.69 keyshop low in 2026, 33% below the $19.99 official price. That is a separate retailer’s price, not the official list price; compare the seller and terms before deciding where to buy.
2. Endure & Defy or Dare & Destroy: pick the battlegroups you want
Both packs contain four battlegroups and cost $24.99, £19.49, or €22.99 at the cited prices. Neither has a Steam review score established here, so the useful comparison is their unit and playstyle mix rather than an unsupported quality ranking.

Endure & Defy is the more natural fit if you want a disruption-oriented US battlegroup, a defensive Wehrmacht option, Polish Cavalry, or Kriegsmarine support. It shipped with the free Scarlet Bison update, which included tank-riding handling, garrison reliability, pathfinding, and more than 2,000 new voice lines. The Wehrmacht battlegroup is named Last Stand; do not confuse it with the separate Final Stand survival product.
Dare & Destroy is the pick if the Free French, Sturmtiger, Commandos, or Tiger Ace appeal more. The Free French battlegroup includes French Rifle Sections, Bastions, Tourelle defenses, Railway Artillery, Char B1 units, Maginot Line turrets, underground reinforcement, and concrete gates. Siege Breaker brings Flame Halftracks, Siege Specialists, S-mine launchers, and a Sturmtiger with a 380mm weapon and involved reload. Special Service brings Commandos, an SSB sniper, desert raiders, Lewes bombs, 30CWT trucks, RAF support, photo-flash, and dead drops. Elite Forces adds veteran infantry, Command 8 Rad, an Ace Stuka wing, and choices involving a Tiger Ace or Panzer III/StuG refits.

Dare & Destroy launched with free update 2.4.0, which Relic said adjusted mobile anti-aircraft units, infantry stutter-stepping and firing delay, and late-game pacing. Relic also flagged blobbing for wider work in 2.5.0. Those free changes are not exclusive battlegroup content. Both Endure & Defy and Dare & Destroy cost more than Fire & Steel at the cited list prices, so pay the premium only if their particular battlegroups are the ones you want.
3. Hammer & Shield: buy only for its two specific battlegroups
The current Hammer & Shield Battlegroup Pack costs $13.99 and contains two battlegroups: US Advanced Infantry and Wehrmacht Italian Coastal Defense. Steam’s 2026 listing showed 37% positive from 29 reviews, categorized as Mostly Negative. The sample is small, but it is the weakest reception figure in this pack comparison. At list price, it costs about $7 per battlegroup, more than Fire & Steel’s approximately $5 per battlegroup.
- US Forces — Advanced Infantry: Riflemen can upgrade to Rangers, with up to six weapons and weapon drops. Scouts can become Artillery Observers with radio beacons. The battlegroup also includes a 105mm M1 Howitzer and a 155mm Rapid Artillery strike.
- Wehrmacht — Italian Coastal Defense: Coastal Reserves use traps, bunkers, and cover bonuses. The battlegroup adds an Artillery Officer, anti-tank and command-support bunkers, and an Obice da 210/22 with Rapid Resupply near bunkers.
The pack’s history explains why older descriptions can be misleading. The original Hammer & Shield expansion bundled a Campaign Company, cosmetics, and two battlegroups. Relic delisted that mixed SKU on 20 March 2026, saying the packaging no longer matched its other DLC offerings and had caused confusion about what it included. The British Forces Air & Sea Campaign Company became free to all base-game owners on 31 March 2026 with the Topaz Rhino 2.3.0 update. Owners of either of the two battlegroups received the other on that date. Cosmetics moved to complete Ultimate Sets, with Night Fighters and Devil’s Brigade listed as exceptions.
So do not buy Hammer & Shield expecting a paid British campaign company. The remaining pack makes sense if Rangers and US artillery or Wehrmacht coastal defense are exactly what you want; otherwise, the other four-battlegroup packs offer more options per dollar at their listed prices. Deku Deals recorded an all-time Steam low of $11.19, a 20% discount, but the sale price can change.
4. Operation Torch: the campaign to wait for, not a priced recommendation yet
Operation Torch is the first dedicated single-player campaign DLC since the game launched on 23 February 2023. Relic announced 15 historically inspired missions, following the US 34th Infantry Division, known as the “Red Bulls,” from Allied landings through the defeat at Kasserine and the assault on Hill 609 in Tunisia. Relic’s FAQ says it will release on Wednesday, 25 November 2026, on Steam.
Relic’s official FAQ says, “We will announce the final price for Operation Torch soon.” A $30 price has appeared in a trailer comment as a concern, not as a confirmed price. Until Relic posts the price, there is no sound basis for saying whether the campaign is good value. Wishlist it if the story is your priority, then compare the actual price with the $19.99 Fire & Steel and $24.99 Endure & Defy or Dare & Destroy packs. Those packs contain multiplayer battlegroups, not equivalent campaign missions.
The campaign is built around the US Forces, rather than a new faction. Relic says players command units of the 34th Infantry Division. Listed mission types include beachfront landings, stealth operations, defensive actions, and large-scale assaults; German forces are the enemy, and many vehicles have desert paint schemes. Optional objectives can earn upgrades that shape the army between missions. DualShockers reports two progression choices per mission and up to two upgrades from field performance, with upgrades persisting.

The story is presented through three characters: Colonel Thomas “Tom” Becker, an inexperienced 34th commander willing to risk himself to save his men; Major George Russo, an intelligence officer and Becker’s classmate, known as a prankster; and Master Sergeant James “Jimmy” Flanagan, a veteran of the First World War and the Philippines who represents the Red Bulls’ mood. Relic describes the perspectives as reflecting “the hardships, losses, responsibilities, and lessons learned” as the troops become a force prepared to liberate Europe.

That makes a firm buy recommendation premature even for campaign fans: the mission count and premise are known, but the price and how the finished campaign plays are not.
5. Final Stand: for wave survival, not a story campaign
Final Stand is a separate $29.99 Steam title, launched around 30 July 2026. It offers 12 escalating waves, bosses, randomized custom battlegroups, solo and co-op play, and permanent meta upgrades. Relic’s launch pricing included a 10% two-week discount and an additional 20% bundle discount for Company of Heroes 3 owners; those were launch offers, not a guaranteed current price.
Buy it for short-session, roguelite-style wave defense. It does not add a campaign or a multiplayer faction, and its horde-mode progression is distinct from ranked faction balance. DualShockers calls it a “Last Stand tower defence add-on,” while Relic and COGconnected describe it as a standalone Steam title. Treat it as a related game for a different playstyle, not as a substitute for Torch or a battlegroup pack.
6. Company of Heroes 3 Ultimate: check the five items before paying
The Steam listing describes a 10% saving across five items. DealHero and Deku Deals listed the bundle at $146.64 against $162.94 in 2026. The bundle can suit a collector who needs most of its contents, but the price alone does not establish that it is a better deal for you: check which items are currently included and remove the value of anything you already own from your decision.
Operation Torch is not confirmed as one of those five items. Wargamer.fr describes it as the sixth extension in the CoH3 line, but that does not establish that it is included in the Ultimate bundle. Do not assume Torch comes with the bundle; check the live Steam item list and budget for it separately if you want it.
Which DLC should you buy for your playstyle?
Your mode and preferred army matter more than a general ranking. A battlegroup is useful when you intend to play the army and mode it supports; otherwise, it can sit unused regardless of its unit list.

If you are new and want the story
Play both base-game campaigns first. The British Air & Sea Campaign Company is already free for base-game owners after the March 2026 change. Wishlist Operation Torch if you want another campaign, but wait for the announced price before deciding. You can skip battlegroup DLC until you know you want skirmish, co-op, or multiplayer options.
If you play ranked, co-op, or skirmish
Fire & Steel is the straightforward first pack if you want one option for every army at the lowest listed price among the four-battlegroup packs here. For a new player choosing an army, a community wiki snapshot updated 26 July 2026 placed US Forces in S tier, Wehrmacht and Afrikakorps in A, and British Forces in B overall. The same snapshot characterizes US Forces as flexible and forgiving for ranked climbing, Wehrmacht as aggressive in 1v1, Afrikakorps as fuel-focused and demanding in micro, and British Forces as stronger as a 2v2 emplacement anchor or on choke maps. This is a community ranking, not a Relic tier list or a reason to buy DLC you do not want.
If you already main an army, choose the battlegroup by its style: US players can consider Heavy Weapons, Free French, Italian Partisan, or Advanced Infantry; British players can consider Canadian Shock, Polish Cavalry, or Special Service; Wehrmacht players can consider Terror, Last Stand, Siege Breaker, or Italian Coastal Defense; and Afrikakorps players can consider Panzerjäger Kommand, Kriegsmarine, or Elite Forces. Those options vary substantially, so read the battlegroup descriptions rather than treating all options for one army as interchangeable.
If you collect DLC
Compare the live five-item Ultimate bundle against the DLC you still lack, and do not count Torch as included unless the Steam listing shows it. Torch’s eventual price remains a separate decision.
If you prefer short sessions
Final Stand is the relevant option if the appeal is solo or co-op wave defense with roguelite progression. Its separate horde meta means its appeal should be judged on that mode, not on ranked faction tiers.

Some DLC releases arrived alongside free updates, so a patch’s changes should not be mistaken for paid content. Fire & Steel shipped with the free 2.0 Anniversary Update, which included campaign polish, audio and UI changes, balance work, and returning classic maps. Endure & Defy shipped with the free Scarlet Bison update. Dare & Destroy launched alongside free update 2.4.0. Those updates are not additional paid battlegroups.

Where can you buy these add-ons, and what is not confirmed?
The cited DLC listings and Torch FAQ are Steam-focused. DualShockers lists the 2023 base game for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but console DLC availability and prices for Torch and the 2025–2026 battlegroup packs are not verified here. Do not infer console parity from the base game’s platform list.
Steam DLC pages may be age-gated because they describe frequent, detailed depictions of World War II violence. Prices and review counts are also time-sensitive: the figures above are attributed to their cited sources and were checked against information available in October 2026, not guaranteed future prices or scores. How were these recommendations chosen?
The recommendations distinguish campaign, battlegroup, and standalone-survival content, then compare the details that matter to the likely buyer: list price, number of battlegroups, army coverage, unit and playstyle fit, and available public reception figures. Fire & Steel ranks ahead as a general battlegroup purchase because it has four battlegroups at the lowest listed price among the four-battlegroup packs and a substantially larger documented Steam review sample than the other packs discussed. Hammer & Shield is a narrower recommendation because it has two battlegroups and a Mostly Negative score from a small sample. Operation Torch and Final Stand are evaluated as different product types rather than forced into a battlegroup ranking.

How long is the Operation Torch campaign?
Relic has announced 15 missions, but a mission runtime or total completion-time estimate has not been published in the information available as of October 2026. Mission count alone does not establish how many hours the campaign will take.
Is Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition included in Company of Heroes 3 Ultimate?
No inclusion is established: Definitive Edition is a separate classic product, not a Company of Heroes 3 DLC pack. Check the live Ultimate bundle contents rather than assuming an anniversary announcement means it is part of the bundle.
Does Operation Torch have a Steam page already?
Relic’s FAQ identifies Steam as its release platform, and the Steam listing was available to wishlist by 29 October 2026. A wishlist listing does not confirm the final price or a launch discount.
Are the factions’ ranked tiers the same in Final Stand?
No. The community wiki snapshot distinguishes Final Stand’s horde meta from ranked faction tiers, which it treats as independent unless patches overlap. A battlegroup or faction assessment for ranked play therefore does not automatically describe its value in wave survival.
