What happens depends on which PiggyVest product you are using. A missed Piggybank autosave is simply skipped: PiggyVest says it will not debit the missed amount later and will not charge a missed-payment fee. You can add money yourself with Quick Save. A GetIT or Ride Goals car plan is stricter. It is designed around a contribution schedule and a completed purchase target; ending it early normally costs 5% of the amount you withdraw. Cancellation within the first 24 hours is free unless the payment was made by card or bank transfer, and the order cannot be cancelled after the target is reached.
The distinction matters because GetIT is not a loan, does not earn interest, and has different access and cancellation rules from Piggybank. The information below reflects PiggyVest’s public announcement of October 15, 2026, its FAQ, and its Terms of Use last updated in 2025.
First identify the savings product
PiggyVest uses different rules for general savings and for a planned car purchase. Before deciding what a missed payment or withdrawal will cost, check the name of the plan in the app.
Piggybank autosave
Piggybank is the ordinary savings feature. You can set an automatic daily, weekly or monthly contribution. Its missed-payment FAQ is explicit: PiggyVest says, “We WON’T automatically debit your account if you missed any day, week or month and we WON’T charge you either.” That answer applies to Piggybank autosave, not automatically to every other PiggyVest goal.

GetIT and Ride Goals
GetIT is a structured purchase plan for a brand-new Mikano car. PiggyVest’s October 15, 2026 announcement says you choose the car and a three-, six-, nine- or 12-month plan, then save daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly until the target is complete. The car is delivered after the savings target is completed. Because it is a purchase arrangement rather than a general wallet, do not assume that a GetIT contribution is treated exactly like a missed Piggybank debit.
If you miss a Piggybank autosave
No automatic catch-up debit
A missed day, week or month does not create a surprise debit later. PiggyVest’s FAQ says the service will not automatically take the missed contribution from your account. It also says there is no charge for missing it. This means a missed contribution leaves your balance lower than the schedule originally projected; it does not create a debt or an automatic penalty under the documented Piggybank rule.
Use Quick Save when you want to catch up
Quick Save lets you add a contribution manually. Open the relevant Piggybank balance in the app, choose the option to make a manual or quick contribution, enter the amount you want to add, and confirm the payment. You can replace all or part of what you skipped, or simply continue with your next scheduled debit. The FAQ does not require a particular catch-up deadline or amount, so use the balance and goal date shown in your account as the practical guide.

What this does not establish
The no-fee, no-back-debit statement is specifically documented for Piggybank. It does not establish that a missed GetIT contribution will be ignored, that a vehicle reservation will remain unchanged, or that a GetIT deadline will move automatically. Treat those as separate questions and check the active GetIT agreement.

If you miss a GetIT car-plan contribution
Public materials do not give a universal delinquency rule
PiggyVest describes GetIT as a plan with fixed contribution intervals that is intended to run until the purchase target is complete, but its public announcement and FAQ do not say whether a missed contribution automatically extends the end date, changes the car reservation, increases a later instalment, or triggers a separate fee. The absence of a published rule is important: applying Piggybank’s no-penalty wording to GetIT could give you the wrong expectation.
Check the live agreement before skipping
- Open the active goal. In the PiggyVest app, go to the GetIT or Ride Goals area and select the car plan rather than a regular Piggybank.
- Read the current schedule. Confirm the contribution frequency, next due date, remaining target and planned completion date.
- Review the confirmation and terms screens. Look for language about missed contributions, changes to delivery timing, vehicle availability and cancellation.
- Contact PiggyVest support before the due date if possible. Ask specifically whether the missed amount can be paid later, whether the target date changes, and whether the selected vehicle remains reserved.
- Keep a record. Save the in-app confirmation and any support response so you can compare the agreed treatment with the balance shown later.
If the app changes the target, price or schedule, rely on the current in-app figures rather than an earlier estimate. PiggyVest says vehicle prices can change and that it will notify the saver in advance.
Taking money out of GetIT before the target
The standard early-break fee
PiggyVest’s October 15, 2026 announcement states: “If you break or cancel your plan early, you’ll pay a 5% fee on the amount you withdraw.” The wording bases the fee on the amount withdrawn, not necessarily the original target or every contribution ever scheduled. For example, if the amount you withdraw is ₦500,000, 5% is ₦25,000; confirm the exact calculation and net amount on the live cancellation screen before approving it.

The 24-hour exception
Cancellation within 24 hours is free according to the announcement, except when the payment was made by card or bank transfer. That payment-method exception means you should not treat every first-day cancellation as automatically cost-free. Check which method funded the plan and read the amount displayed immediately before confirming cancellation.

After the target is reached
Once the savings target has been reached, the order cannot be cancelled under the announcement. If you are considering an early exit, make the decision before the balance reaches the target and verify the status shown in the app. Reaching the target changes the cancellation option; it is not the same situation as withdrawing part-way through the schedule.
What the fee is not
The 5% charge is the stated GetIT early-break or cancellation fee. It should not be confused with Piggybank’s separate off-cycle withdrawal penalty, which is described below. Nor does it turn GetIT into borrowing: you are withdrawing your own saved funds from a purchase plan, not repaying a lender.
GetIT is a purchase plan, not a loan
PiggyVest’s FAQ says GetIT is “not a loan or a credit service, and it doesn’t earn interest.” There is no lender advancing the car’s price for you and no interest return on the balance while you save. The purpose is to accumulate your own money toward a specified vehicle and receive the car after the target is completed.

For GetIT, the relevant questions are how quickly you can access your saved cash, what early exit costs, whether the target can change with the vehicle price, and what happens if you cannot make a scheduled contribution.

How the GetIT schedule and target work
Choose the vehicle and term
The October 15, 2026 announcement describes brand-new Mikano cars and terms of three, six, nine or 12 months. You select a daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly contribution pattern. The first contribution is made when the plan starts unless you switch off Start saving immediately.
Watch for target changes
The amount you need to save is tied to the vehicle target. PiggyVest says the target can change if the vehicle price changes and that it will notify you in advance. A target shown when you start is therefore not a guarantee that the same naira amount will remain in force until delivery. Recheck the target after a price notice and before making a cancellation or withdrawal decision.
Delivery follows completion
The car is delivered after the savings target is completed. Saving for part of the target does not, by itself, create possession of the vehicle. If delivery timing is critical, ask support what happens when a contribution is late and whether the completion date or vehicle allocation changes; the public materials do not specify those remedies.

Do not apply Piggybank withdrawal dates to GetIT
Piggybank has its own withdrawal framework. PiggyVest’s Terms of Use, last updated in 2025, say withdrawals outside published free dates can incur a 3.5% penalty. The FAQ lists March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31 as quarterly free-withdrawal dates. Those dates and the 3.5% figure describe Piggybank withdrawals, not the 5% GetIT early-break fee.

Use the product name shown in the app when checking a fee. A quarterly Piggybank date cannot be assumed to create a free exit from a GetIT car plan, and the GetIT announcement does not say that its 5% fee is waived on a Piggybank free-withdrawal date.

A practical decision checklist
- Need the money for an emergency? Check the GetIT cancellation amount before withdrawing; do not assume a quarterly Piggybank date applies.
- Missed a regular Piggybank debit? Leave the missed amount skipped or use Quick Save; there is no automatic catch-up debit or missed-payment fee under the FAQ.
- Missed a GetIT due date? Read the active agreement and ask support how the deadline, target and vehicle status will be handled.
- Within 24 hours of starting? Confirm whether the payment was by card or bank transfer, because that exception can remove the free-cancellation treatment.
- Near the target? Remember that the announcement says the order cannot be cancelled once the target is reached.
- Vehicle price changed? Compare the notice with the new in-app target before making another contribution or deciding whether the plan still fits your budget.
- Considering a loan instead? Compare total repayment, interest, collateral, missed-payment consequences and possession timing in the lender’s written offer; GetIT does not provide those credit features.
Common mistakes to avoid
Assuming every missed payment is harmless
The no-charge statement is for Piggybank. GetIT’s public materials do not promise the same treatment, so a missed car-plan contribution needs confirmation.
Calculating 5% on the wrong amount
The announcement describes 5% of the amount withdrawn. Do not calculate it automatically on the original car price or the total planned contributions; use the amount and fee shown in the current cancellation flow.
Waiting until after completion to cancel
The stated cancellation right ends when the target is reached. If your circumstances change, review the plan before completion rather than assuming you can reverse the order later.
Calling GetIT an investment or credit line
It does not earn interest and is not a loan or credit service. Describe it as a structured way to fund a vehicle purchase with your own saved money.
