The Suunto Wing is a 33 g, IP67-rated pair of bone-conduction sports headphones that leaves your ear canals open. Its strongest case is outdoor awareness paired with hands-free controls and built-in red LEDs; its trade-offs are sound quality that one reviewer found less crisp and deep than some rivals, plus a battery figure that remains a manufacturer claim rather than a verified result from that review.

What the Suunto Wing is—and who it suits

The Wing uses bone-conduction technology: it rests against the jawbone rather than sealing the ear canal. Suunto says this open-ear design lets you hear music while also hearing sounds around you. That can be useful for runners and cyclists who want to remain aware of their environment, but it does not make listening on roads risk-free. Keep volume and surroundings in mind, follow local rules, and use appropriate road-safety equipment.

Suunto lists the headphones at 33 g and rates them IP67 for water resistance. The rating describes the product’s water and dust protection; it does not establish that every activity or exposure is suitable. See Suunto’s product page for the manufacturer’s specifications.

How well do the fit, controls, and lights work?

Fit and controls

In its June 9, 2026 review, Cycling Weekly’s reviewer found the Wing comfortable and considered its hands-free head gestures useful. The gestures can be used for actions such as answering or declining calls and skipping tracks, according to the review. These observations are the reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee that every user will find the fit or gestures equally comfortable or reliable. Read the Cycling Weekly review.

SUUNTO WING - Open ear, bone conduction headphones. Made for sports, waterproof, safety lights, bluetooth
  • BONE CONDUCTION HEADPHONES - The Suunto Wing headphones use bone conduction technology, which leaves the ear canal free to safely hear surrounding sounds while still providing the same sound quality of normal over-ear headphones. Normal level of sound leakage.
  • LIGHT & EASY TO WEAR - At only 32g, the headphones are light and can be worn with bike helmets, hats & beanies. One-size-fits-all. Comfortable fit yet snug enough to allow for use in rough terrain and during demanding sports. Waterproof for use in all weather conditions.
  • CLEAR VOICE CALLS - The dual microphone uses Clear Voice Capture (cVc) technology to ensure clear calls even in windy environments or on the move. Stay hands-free by answering or hanging up calls with head movement controls.
  • SAFETY LIGHTS - For added safety, the headphones have bright LED lights that can be set to different light modes from within the Suunto App
  • BLUETOOTH COMPATIBLE - Suunto Wing headphones are easy to connect to any Bluetooth enabled device

Visibility LEDs

The Wing includes integrated red LEDs intended to improve visibility. Treat them as an added visibility feature, not a substitute for lights required by local law, reflective clothing, or safe riding and running practices. Suunto’s product page describes the lighting modes and specifications.

What is the Suunto Wing battery life?

Suunto’s product page specifies up to 10 hours of music playback and at least 30 hours when the headphones are used with the powerbank, under Suunto’s stated test conditions of 60% volume and SBC audio. These are manufacturer figures, not independently established real-world runtimes for every volume, codec, call pattern, or LED setting.

Suunto also lists at least 4 hours of music playback with the LEDs in constant-light mode and at least 8 hours with head-movement control enabled. The company describes the powerbank as providing up to 20 additional hours; its specification table presents the combined music-only figure as at least 30 hours. For charging and operation details, consult the Suunto Wing user guide.

Cycling Weekly lists a claimed 10-hour battery time, but its reviewer explicitly says they did not test the full ten-hour playback claim. That review therefore does not independently confirm Suunto’s runtime estimate.

How does the sound compare?

Open-ear bone-conduction headphones make a different compromise from sealed in-ear models: the ear canal remains open, but the listening experience is not the same as an immersive, isolated fit. Cycling Weekly’s reviewer said the Wing’s sound was not as crisp as that of some competing headphones and that it lacked some depth. Those are subjective impressions from one hands-on review, rather than a universal ranking or measured comparison.

Is the Suunto Wing worth it?

The Wing is most compelling if you want open-ear sports headphones with a light listed weight, water-resistance rating, gesture controls, and integrated visibility LEDs. Its battery specifications are promising on paper, especially with the powerbank, but they should be read as Suunto claims under stated test conditions—not guaranteed endurance. If crispness and depth are your main priorities, the reviewer’s sound criticism is a reason to compare alternatives and, where possible, try the fit and audio before buying. Cycling Weekly characterizes it as an upper-price-bracket product; check current local pricing and whether a powerbank is included in the exact regional bundle before purchase.
