In the US, Spotify Premium Student is available to eligible students age 18 or older at a Title IV-accredited college or university listed in SheerID. You must verify your status every 12 months, for up to four years. On October 4, 2026, Spotify’s US offer page advertised one month free, then $6.99 per month plus tax, with Hulu (With Ads) subject to eligibility and terms. The offer and price can change; they do not establish terms for other countries.
Am I eligible for Spotify Student Discount?
Spotify’s US Premium Student plan is for applicants who are at least 18 and enrolled at an eligible US Title IV-accredited college or university. The school must also appear in SheerID’s verification form. These are US terms; eligibility and pricing may differ elsewhere. See Spotify’s US Premium Student offer and its Premium Student support page.

You do not need to use your academic email address on your Spotify account. Spotify says eligibility is established through SheerID, not by matching the Spotify account email to a school email.
How does Spotify verify student status?
SheerID handles the student-status check. Verification and starting the subscription are separate: confirmation from SheerID does not itself activate Premium Student.

Spotify does not accept mobile billing or billing through another company for this plan. If you currently pay Spotify through one of those methods, Spotify says you must cancel and resubscribe using an accepted payment method. Available payment methods depend on location. If you study abroad, Spotify says your account country or region and payment method should match the country where you study.
What if my college isn’t listed?
Spotify says you are not eligible at that time if your institution does not appear in SheerID. You can ask SheerID to add the school through the process described on Spotify’s missing-school help page. SheerID reviews the request within 30 days and emails you with its decision. Spotify cannot change or expedite that decision, and a request does not guarantee the school will be added.

What does Spotify Student cost in the US, and what is included?
On October 4, 2026, Spotify’s US offer page advertised one month free, then $6.99 per month plus tax, with Hulu (With Ads) included subject to eligibility and terms. This is a dated US promotion, not a guaranteed ongoing rate or a global price. Check the current US offer page before subscribing.
The free month is not guaranteed for every eligible student. Spotify’s offer page says it is unavailable to users who have already tried Premium. Its student introductory-offer terms also say previous Premium subscriptions or certain prior trial use can make someone ineligible for the introductory offer. If you do qualify for a trial, it automatically converts to the then-current Student Tier monthly rate unless you cancel before the trial ends.

How do I renew Spotify Premium Student?
Spotify requires students to re-verify every 12 months to keep the discount, for up to four years total. It says it sends renewal instructions about four weeks before the current period expires. You can also start renewal from your Spotify account page. Follow the verification instructions and then complete the subscription steps on Spotify; SheerID confirmation alone does not renew the plan. See Spotify’s renewal instructions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What happens if I forget to renew?
If you do not renew by the end of the 12-month period, Spotify says the subscription automatically continues at the full price. You can still renew manually after the student discount expires. Once SheerID verifies you again and you resubscribe to Premium Student, the discounted amount applies from your next payment. Check your account and billing details if you are unsure whether your plan has renewed or changed.
