SleepMaker Support Comfort is a discontinued queen-size firm spring mattress. CHOICE records a 32 cm height, 33 kg weight, 12 layers and 176 springs per square metre. Its listed retail price was $1,999, with a recorded sale or negotiated price of $999. Because the model is discontinued, any listing should be treated as a condition-and-availability check rather than a normal new-mattress purchase. The public CHOICE result does not display its member-only expert rating, and available owner reviews combine many SleepMaker models instead of isolating Support Comfort. That means the specifications are reasonably clear, but model-specific evidence about durability, motion isolation, cooling, trials and warranty coverage remains limited.

What is the SleepMaker Support Comfort mattress?

Support Comfort was an instore-retail, queen-size mattress marketed with a firm feel and a light-spring core. It is no longer part of SleepMaker’s current catalogue, so the product a buyer finds today may be old clearance stock, a display model, used stock or a listing with an inaccurate name.

The published specifications identify the physical product, but they do not establish how every sleeper will experience it. Firmness is a subjective scale influenced by body weight, sleeping position, the base underneath the mattress and the condition of the individual mattress.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Is the SleepMaker Support Comfort still available?

Not as a current model. It is discontinued, so there is no dependable nationwide supply or standard new-stock warranty arrangement to assume. Search results can remain online after a model has left retail ranges, and marketplace descriptions may omit whether a mattress is unused, ex-display or previously slept on.

Before paying, ask the seller to identify the exact model on the law label or original invoice. A photograph of the label is more useful than a title copied from an old advertisement. Confirm that the label says Support Comfort, that the size is queen and that the stated 32 cm height matches the item being offered.

What a discontinued listing can mean

  • Old new stock: unopened inventory that has been stored for an unknown period.
  • Clearance stock: a retailer’s remaining inventory, often with different return conditions from current lines.
  • Display stock: a mattress that has been handled or tested in a showroom.
  • Used stock: a mattress with an unknown hygiene and support history.
  • Misidentified stock: a listing that uses “Support Comfort” for a different SleepMaker model.

These categories should not be priced or warranted as though they were equivalent. Get the condition, manufacture date, proof of purchase and return policy in writing.

How firm is Support Comfort, and is it suitable for back sleepers?

SleepMaker described the model as firm, but no public controlled test establishes its current firmness or confirms that it suits a particular sleeping position. A firm label is therefore a starting point, not a guarantee for every back sleeper.

Back sleepers generally need the mattress to support the natural curve of the lower back without leaving a gap or forcing the pelvis upward. A mattress that feels supportive in a brief showroom test can feel different after several hours, particularly when the sleeper is substantially lighter or heavier than the person who tested it. Couples also need to judge the surface for the heavier partner and for both partners’ preferred positions.

A practical in-person test

  1. Lie on your back in your normal sleep position for at least 10 minutes rather than sitting on the edge.
  2. Notice whether your lower back feels unsupported, sharply pressed or relaxed.
  3. Turn onto your side and check whether your shoulder and hip can settle without pressure.
  4. Ask whether the store permits an exchange or return; a short showroom impression is not a home trial.
  5. For a used or clearance item, inspect the actual mattress instead of testing a different current model.

Support Comfort has no model-specific public trial period. Do not assume that a seller’s general SleepMaker policy applies to this discontinued mattress.

What do the spring count, layers and 32 cm height tell you?

The 176 springs-per-square-metre figure and 12-layer construction describe the build, but they do not by themselves predict comfort, pressure relief or lifespan. Spring counts can be measured in different ways, and layer counts do not reveal each layer’s material, thickness or density.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Light-spring core

The listed core is a light spring system. That distinguishes the mattress from newer SleepMaker designs that use pocket springs, ActiveSense coils, Miracoil systems or Smart Suspension Technology, but the public specification does not provide enough engineering detail to make a performance ranking.

Thickness and bedding fit

At 32 cm, Support Comfort is taller than many standard mattresses. Measure the mattress you receive rather than relying only on the catalogue figure, because compression, upholstery and age can alter the effective height. Sheets and protectors need enough depth to wrap the mattress without pulling the corners loose.

Weight

The documented 33 kg weight is for the queen mattress. It indicates that moving or rotating the mattress is a two-person task for most households. Plan the route through doors and stairs before delivery, and do not drag the mattress by its fabric or handles unless the seller confirms that the handles are designed for lifting.

What did Support Comfort cost, and is a discontinued one worth buying?

CHOICE recorded an original price of $1,999 and a price paid after sale or bargaining of $999. Those are historical observations, not a current valuation. A discontinued mattress is worth considering only when its condition, provenance and return rights compensate for the loss of current-model support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Situation What to verify Risk level
Sealed, traceable old stock Manufacture date, invoice, unopened packaging, written warranty and returns Lower, but age and warranty still matter
Retail clearance or display Whether it was slept on, the discount basis, hygiene treatment and exchange terms Medium
Private or marketplace sale Ownership, hygiene history, centre and edge condition, proof of purchase and any remaining warranty Higher
Listing with no label or documentation Exact model identity and condition before any deposit Very high

Do not pay a premium merely because the model is discontinued. Scarcity does not prove better materials, and an old mattress with no enforceable warranty can be a poor substitute for a current model that you can test and return.

How does Support Comfort compare with current SleepMaker options?

Current SleepMaker families provide a more reliable comparison point because their construction, feels and warranty descriptions are still published. They are not direct replacements unless a retailer confirms that, but they show what a buyer can evaluate instead of relying on an old listing.

Current range or model Published construction or features Feel or choice Warranty or guarantee Useful comparison
Performance range Smart Suspension Technology Super-firm, firm, medium and plush 10-year warranty Offers more feel choices than the single firm designation documented for Support Comfort
Lifestyle range Pocket springs or ActiveSense coils, depending on model; Australian made Varies by model 10-year guarantee Lets you compare a different support system and current documentation
Bespoke range Different support systems by model Varies by model 10-year warranties listed Poppy Blue and Orchid are described as compatible with adjustable bases
ACA range ActiveSense or Miracoil Advance support, Australian-made comfort layers and cooling technologies Varies by model Not stated in the available range description Provides features not documented for Support Comfort, but requires model-level confirmation
Smart Rest listing Climatex quilting, Dreamfoam cushioning and full-width pocket springs Super-firm, firm, medium or plush 120-month manufacturer warranty Concrete retailer alternative; listed in single through king sizes and manufactured in Australia

A warranty length is not the same as a promise that the mattress will feel unchanged for that period. Read exclusions, sagging thresholds, transport responsibilities and who handles claims. A current manufacturer’s warranty is also different from an old warranty that cannot be transferred to a second owner.

What should you inspect before buying a used or clearance Support Comfort?

Use the following checklist before money changes hands. If the seller cannot answer a question, treat that uncertainty as part of the price rather than assuming the most favourable answer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Identity: photograph the law label showing model, size and manufacturer details.
  • Manufacture date: request the date or batch information and compare it with the seller’s description.
  • Surface: inspect the centre sleeping area for hollows, body impressions, stains, odours, torn ticking or exposed material.
  • Edges: sit carefully on each side and look for collapse, unevenness or damaged edge support.
  • Base: ask what base the mattress was used on and inspect whether the base is level and suitable for a queen mattress.
  • Hygiene: ask whether anyone slept on it, whether it was stored in a dry environment and whether there was exposure to smoke, pets or moisture.
  • Documentation: obtain the original receipt, warranty paperwork and any service correspondence.
  • Returns: get the return window, delivery charges and inspection conditions in writing.
  • Transport: confirm who is responsible for carrying a 33 kg mattress and whether a refused delivery incurs a fee.

For a private sale, a photograph cannot prove internal condition. If you cannot inspect the mattress personally, the risk is materially higher because spring damage and odour can be difficult to identify after delivery.

Will a queen mattress protector fit a 32 cm Support Comfort?

Look for a queen protector whose fitted depth covers approximately 32 cm, then verify the measured height and the product’s maximum pocket depth. The 32 cm figure comes from the published specification; it is not a guarantee that every surviving mattress has retained that height.

Measure from the top sleeping surface to the bottom edge while the mattress is resting on its intended base. A protector that is too shallow can pull off at the corners, while one with substantially more depth may bunch beneath the sheet. Check the protector’s size chart and return terms before opening the package.

What do owner reviews say about durability and comfort?

Public ProductReview pages contain mixed experiences across the wider SleepMaker brand. Some owners describe good comfort and support; others report sagging, durability problems or difficult warranty handling. Because those pages aggregate multiple SleepMaker models, they cannot establish a failure rate or comfort pattern for Support Comfort specifically.

The strongest direct public evidence for this exact model is the CHOICE specification record. Its public result does not show the member-only expert rating, so no score should be inferred from the product’s price, spring count or the ratings of other SleepMaker mattresses.

What performance information is still unknown?

Several purchase decisions cannot be answered responsibly from the public model record:

  • There is no model-specific controlled result for motion isolation.
  • Temperature regulation and cooling performance are not documented for Support Comfort.
  • No public Support Comfort trial period has been established.
  • Transferable warranty terms for a used or second-hand mattress are unresolved.
  • Long-term durability evidence specific to this model is unavailable.
  • The material and thickness of each of the 12 layers are not publicly detailed.

Ask the seller for original documentation where possible. If the answer remains unavailable, make the purchase only if you are comfortable proceeding without that protection.

How should you decide between Support Comfort and a current mattress?

Choose Support Comfort only when the actual mattress is verified, clean, structurally sound and sold with meaningful return or warranty protection. Choose a current model when you need a dependable trial policy, documented warranty, a choice of feels or a construction designed for a specific base.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Set the feel requirement: decide whether firm is essential or whether medium, plush or super-firm options should remain open.
  2. Set the support requirement: compare light spring construction with pocket springs, ActiveSense, Miracoil Advance or Smart Suspension Technology.
  3. Measure the bedroom and bedding: allow for the 32 cm height, bed-frame clearance, fitted-sheet depth and delivery access.
  4. Price the risk: include delivery, removal of the old mattress, a protector and the cost of a failed return.
  5. Read the paperwork: distinguish a current manufacturer warranty from an expired, non-transferable or seller-only promise.
  6. Test the exact item when possible: a current showroom model is not evidence that an old Support Comfort has the same feel.

Verdict: should you buy the SleepMaker Support Comfort?

Support Comfort can make sense as a carefully inspected bargain, but it is not a low-risk default purchase. Its documented 32 cm height, 33 kg weight, 12 layers, 176 springs per square metre and firm designation give you a useful specification baseline. The discontinued status, unknown remaining stock, unavailable public expert score and lack of model-specific durability or trial evidence are the reasons to demand documentation and a return route before buying.

For most shoppers, a current SleepMaker model with a clearly stated support system, feel options and enforceable warranty is easier to evaluate. Treat Support Comfort as a conditional second-hand or clearance opportunity, not as a current product with current-model protections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put SleepMaker Support Comfort on an adjustable bed?

There is no public model-specific confirmation that Support Comfort is compatible with an adjustable base. SleepMaker identifies compatibility for some current Bespoke models, including Poppy Blue and Orchid, but that information should not be transferred to this discontinued mattress.

Does a higher spring count mean Support Comfort will last longer?

No. The 176-springs-per-square-metre figure describes one aspect of construction, not a tested lifespan. Coil design, materials, assembly, load distribution, base support and the mattress’s current condition all affect durability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is a 120-month mattress warranty the same as a 10-year warranty?

A 120-month term equals 10 years mathematically, but the practical coverage depends on exclusions, claim thresholds, owner eligibility and transport rules. Check the written warranty rather than comparing the numbers alone.

Can I rely on the public CHOICE rating for this mattress?

The public CHOICE result does not display the member-only expert rating for Support Comfort. You should not infer a score from the listed specifications or from ratings attached to other mattresses.
