Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses already support live speech translation, and Meta says the feature is expanding from six languages to 20. The July 6, 2026 announcement adds Korean and other languages including Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Hindi. However, availability can differ by model, country, Meta account, app version, and software rollout.
There is also an important naming distinction: the standard, display-free Ray-Ban Meta glasses translate conversations through open-ear speakers and show translation text in the Meta AI app. The separate Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses can show translated responses on the glasses themselves, but their current official FAQ lists a smaller set of supported live-translation languages.
What Meta’s live translation feature actually does
On standard Ray-Ban Meta glasses—including Gen 1 and Gen 2—the feature is designed for back-and-forth conversations. When another person speaks, the translated speech is played through the glasses’ open-ear speakers. When the wearer responds, the translated text can be displayed in the Meta AI app for the other person to read.

Meta Ray-Ban Display app path
- Open the Meta AI app.
- Select the connected glasses.
- Open Device settings.
- Choose Translate.
- Select the two languages for the conversation.
- Tap Start.

Standard Ray-Ban Meta glasses

The glasses are a less convincing purchase if translation is the only reason you need them and your target language is not visible in the app. A phone-based translation app may be cheaper and easier to replace.
