Our verdict on Sam's Club
Sam's Club is a retailer app for Android that connects members to groceries, household essentials, electronics, and home goods. It is aimed at club members who want to browse or order from the retailer, handle purchases in the app, or manage an in-club visit. Members can also check local gas prices, pay for fuel with Scan & Go, track prescription orders, and receive order status notifications. Its mix of in-store and online shopping makes it relevant to shoppers who want a single retailer app for those tasks.
The annual membership cost is central to the buying decision. Club membership costs $60 per year and includes Instant Savings, member-only fuel prices, Scan & Go, two membership cards, and curbside pickup on eligible orders over $50. Plus membership costs $120 per year and includes Club benefits, 2% Sam's Cash on qualifying in-club purchases up to $750 per year, free shipping on eligible orders over $50, free select same-day or next-day delivery on eligible orders over $50, early shopping hours, and early access to online savings. Delivery options may have location-based eligibility, fees, or order requirements, so buyers should consider how often they will use them.
The app's standout distinction is its support for shopping inside a club as well as online: Scan & Go handles in-club scanning and payment, while pickup and same-day, next-day, or express delivery options serve orders where available. Pharmacy management and fuel payment extend the app beyond general shopping. This breadth is useful for members who regularly shop at Sam's Club and can make use of its membership benefits. It is less suitable for shoppers who want an app without an annual fee, or whose location does not support the pickup or delivery options they need; they should compare retailers with a better fit for their area and shopping habits.
