Our verdict on OpenText Fax (RightFax)
OpenText Fax, formerly RightFax, is enterprise fax server software for sending, receiving, tracking, and managing digital faxes. It is designed for document-intensive organizations, including healthcare, finance, government, and legal services. Users can send faxes through desktop print-to-fax, email faxing, web access, mobile devices, multifunction printers, and custom applications. Automatic routing can direct incoming faxes to users, groups, folders, and systems.
The product’s main strength is its fit within established enterprise environments. Listed integrations include Epic, Veradigm, Meditech, Oracle Health, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Salesforce, and SharePoint. Workflow branching and document processing automation support more structured processes, while the web API supports custom web and mobile applications. Fax analytics, monitoring, delivery tracking, archive search, and fax modem or gateway support add operational visibility for organizations managing significant fax activity.
Security and deployment flexibility are central to the offering. OpenText Fax includes encrypted transmission, access controls, and audit trails, with on-premises, hybrid, and private-cloud options. AI-assisted routing, summaries, and data extraction can extend document handling workflows beyond basic fax transmission. The product is offered in RightFax Business Edition, RightFax Enterprise Edition, and RightFax Enterprise Suite Edition, with purchasing handled through sales. Organizations with complex integrations, regulated workflows, or varied deployment requirements should consider it; smaller teams seeking only straightforward send-and-receive faxing may prefer a narrower tool.
