  • Where it wins

    • Django template with a current Python 3.12+ runtime
    • Deploy from Git providers, Dockerfiles, or OCI images
    • Managed databases, workers, cron jobs, backups, and TLS
  • Where it doesn't

    • Free Nano instances sleep after 60 minutes of idle time
    • The smallest paid plans provide limited RAM and CPU
    • Broad PaaS scope may feel less Django-specific than focused hosts

Our verdict on HostStack

HostStack is a European platform-as-a-service from MICCI for deploying Django applications, APIs, background workers, cron jobs, databases, and Docker containers. Django developers get a deployment template and Python 3.12+ runtime, while teams can also deploy services on HostStack infrastructure or customer-owned machines. It suits developers who want low-cost resource-based hosting with options spanning managed services, self-hosted infrastructure, and several deployment methods.

Pricing starts with Nano free: 256 MB RAM, 0.25 vCPU, and 1 GB disk, with sleep after 60 minutes idle. Pico costs €1 per instance per month for 128 MB RAM, 0.1 vCPU, and 1 GB disk. Nano paid is €3 for the same resources as Nano free with always-on operation. Micro costs €5 for 512 MB RAM and 5 GB disk; Small costs €10 for 1 GB RAM and 10 GB disk; Standard costs €20 for 2 GB RAM and 20 GB disk; and XLarge costs €80 for 8 GB RAM, 4 vCPU, and 80 GB disk. Pro Standard costs €29 per node per month and provides a single-tenant node with 8 GB RAM, 2 vCPU, and 20 GB disk.

The platform connects with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Codeberg for push-to-deploy, and also supports Docker, the CLI, TypeScript SDK, MCP server, and Terraform. Managed PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis are available alongside automated database backups and restores, custom domains with TLS certificates, workers, and cron jobs. Its broad platform coverage is useful for mixed application stacks and varied environments, but teams seeking a narrowly Django-focused hosting experience may prefer a more specialized service. Pick HostStack for flexible, inexpensive deployments; skip it if the smallest resource tiers or broader PaaS model do not fit your workload.
