Our verdict on Divio Cloud

Divio Cloud is a developer-focused platform-as-a-service for hosting Docker-based web applications, including Django projects. It is aimed at digital agencies, developers, and enterprises that want managed deployment, databases, storage, backups, monitoring, Git workflows, and cloud infrastructure management. Applications can connect to Divio-hosted or external Git repositories, run across multiple environments, and use managed PostgreSQL or MySQL services. Background workers are supported through RabbitMQ and Celery, with web, Linux, and API access.

Pricing is split across cloud hosting, feature, and support tiers. Lite Cloud Hosting costs $10 per application monthly and includes 256 MB memory, 1 GB object storage, 5 GB backup storage, 250 MB database storage, and a US or EU region. Business Cloud Hosting costs $45 per application monthly, with customizable resources, AWS, Exoscale, or Microsoft Azure options, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and additional Celery workers. Enterprise Cloud Management costs $3,500 per cloud region monthly and adds dedicated isolated management, custom infrastructure, managed backing services, and custom security and support options. Feature tiers cost $10, $60, or $120 per application monthly, while support costs $5 or $45 per application monthly.

The main fit is for teams that need more than basic Django deployment: multiple environments, encrypted backups, TLS management, application logs, metrics, build workers, and cloud-provider flexibility. Gold Features adds automatic encrypted backups and one additional environment; Platinum adds eight additional environments, custom backup schedules, Cloudflare Enterprise access, and ISO-certified cloud hosting. The 30-day trial provides an evaluation period, but ongoing use is paid. Divio Cloud suits mature teams that value managed infrastructure and operational controls; smaller projects seeking a permanent free plan or a simpler single-purpose host should look elsewhere.
