Our verdict on AXO Email

AXO Email provides hosted business email for companies, startups, agencies, nonprofits, and teams using their own domains. It combines custom-domain mailboxes with webmail, aliases, calendar, contacts, IMAP and SMTP access, administrative controls, and migration tools. Shared inboxes add assignments and internal notes for team workflows. Access is available on the web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and through an API, while integrations include Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook, Microsoft 365, Fastmail, Zoho, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird.

Pricing is mailbox-based and billed annually. Starter costs $42 per mailbox annually and includes a custom domain, webmail or third-party mail app access, and email support. Business costs $84 per mailbox annually and adds additional domains, shared inboxes and assignments, priority support, migration from Gmail or Outlook, and advanced spam and phishing protection. Business Plus costs $126 per mailbox annually and includes everything in Business with priority support. Enterprise includes a dedicated success manager and custom data-handling agreements. The published starting price is $3.50 per mailbox per month with annual billing.

AXO Email is a focused fit for teams that want their own domain and a shared-mailbox workflow, particularly when migration from an existing provider matters. Two-factor authentication with TOTP and recovery codes, daily encrypted off-site backups, and encryption-related security features support administrative needs. The REST API and webhooks also suit organizations that need to connect email workflows to other systems. However, there is no free plan, mobile apps are third-party rather than native, and the service is currently in private beta. Teams seeking a paid email host with shared inboxes and migration tools should consider AXO Email; those wanting a free option or a fully native mobile experience should look elsewhere.
