The correct One Piece watch order is the original TV anime in episode-number order. Use saga and arc names only as navigation aids, because streaming services divide the same episodes into different seasons. For the manga-centered story, watch every listed canon or mixed episode and skip only the filler blocks in the tables below. The films and television specials are optional: GamesRadar’s 2026 guide lists more than 1,100 anime episodes and 15 feature films, and says no movie is required to understand the main plot.

How to use this watch order

Episode numbers are the dependable reference. A service may call an arc a “season,” split one saga across several seasons, or place specials beside the series. If a season label conflicts with this guide, follow the episode number.

“Watch” ranges include manga-adapted material and episodes with canon material mixed with anime-original scenes. Do not remove an entire arc merely because it contains a few padded scenes. “Skip” ranges are the blocks identified as filler in the cited guide. Filler can be entertaining, but it is not needed to follow the manga-based plot.

  • Canon or mixed: keep it in episode order.
  • Filler: skip it for the fastest manga-centered route, or save it for later.
  • Movie tie-in: watch only if you plan to view the related film or want extra anime-original material.

The table gives the practical route. Gaps in a watch range are deliberate: they mark filler episodes listed in the adjacent column.

Final Saga 1086–1155; 1156 onward for Elbaph No separate block identified in the cited guide The guide places Egghead at 1086–1155 and Elbaph beginning with episode 1156.

East Blue: episodes 1–61

Begin at episode 1 and continue through Loguetown. Episodes 46–47, Buggy’s Crew Adventure Chronicles, are the first skip point. Warship Island, episodes 54–61, is another anime-original block. Skipping both takes you directly from Loguetown into the Arabasta-era material without losing the main narrative.

Arabasta: episodes 62–135

Watch episodes 62–130 in order. Post-Arabasta, 131–135, is the filler block. The preceding Diary of Koby-Meppo episodes, 68–69, are included in the watch route rather than removed.

Skypiea: episodes 136–206

Goat Island (136–138), Ruluka Island (139–143) and G8 (196–206) are marked filler. G8 has an unusually strong reputation among viewers, but popularity does not make it part of the manga storyline; treat it as an optional detour. The core route starts with Jaya at 144 and continues through Skypiea at 195.

Water 7: episodes 207–325

Long Ring Long Land, 207–219, leads into the Water 7 and Enies Lobby material. Ocean’s Dream (220–224), Foxy’s Return (225–228), and the Boss Luffy historical specials (291–292 and 303) can be omitted. Enies Lobby has intentional gaps around those specials, so resume at the next listed episode rather than assuming an episode is missing.

Thriller Bark: episodes 326–384

Ice Hunter, 326–335, Chopper Man, 336, and Spa Island, 382–384, are filler. The Thriller Bark story itself runs from 337 through 381.

Summit War: episodes 385–516

The main route moves through Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, the Straw Hat’s Separation, Impel Down, Marineford and Post-War. Boss Luffy specials 406–407 and the Toriko crossover at 492 are safe skips. Little East Blue, 426–429, is optional if you are not using it as the Strong World movie tie-in.

Fish-Man Island: episodes 517–574

Watch 517–541, skip the Toriko crossover at 542, then continue with 543–574. The single-episode gap is not a missing canon chapter.

Dressrosa: episodes 575–746

Episodes 575–578, Z’s Ambition, can be skipped when Film Z is not part of your plan. Skip the Toriko/Dragon Ball crossover at 590 and Caesar Retrieval at 626–628. Resume the manga-centered route at 629 and continue through 746.

Whole Cake Island: episodes 747–889

Silver Mine, 747–750, is filler and also serves as a Film Gold tie-in. Marine Rookie, 780–782, is another optional block. Watch Zou, Whole Cake Island and Reverie through episode 889.

Wano: episodes 890–1085

Cidre Guild, 895–896, is filler; episode 907 is the 20th Anniversary special. Uta’s Past, 1029–1030, is optional if you do not want Film Red material. Keep the surrounding Wano episodes, including the ranges that resume at 897 and 908.

Final Saga: Egghead and Elbaph

The cited 2026 guide lists Egghead as episodes 1086–1155 and places the start of Elbaph at episode 1156. Because new episodes and regional releases can change a service’s display, use those episode numbers as the checkpoint and verify that your platform has released the episode before assuming it is unavailable.

Every filler block in one skip list

If you want a compact checklist while watching, these are the anime-original blocks identified by the guide:

Episodes Name or description Skip guidance
46–47 Buggy’s Crew Adventure Chronicles Skip for the main story.
54–61 Warship Island Skip for the main story.
131–135 Post-Arabasta Skip for the main story.
136–138 Goat Island Skip; anime-original.
139–143 Ruluka Island Skip; anime-original.
196–206 G8 Optional; widely liked but still filler.
220–224 Ocean’s Dream Skip unless you want extra material.
225–228 Foxy’s Return Skip unless you want extra material.
291–292, 303, 406–407 Boss Luffy historical specials Skip; comedy specials outside the main plot.
326–335 Ice Hunter Skip; anime-original.
336 Chopper Man Skip; special episode.
382–384 Spa Island Skip; anime-original.
426–429 Little East Blue Skip if you are not watching the Strong World tie-in.
492 Toriko crossover Skip; crossover.
542 Toriko crossover Skip; crossover.
575–578 Z’s Ambition Skip if Film Z is not being watched.
590 Toriko/Dragon Ball crossover Skip; crossover.
626–628 Caesar Retrieval Skip for the manga-centered route.
747–750 Silver Mine Skip if Film Gold is not being watched.
780–782 Marine Rookie Skip for the main story.
895–896 Cidre Guild Skip; anime-original.
907 20th Anniversary special Skip; commemorative special.
1029–1030 Uta’s Past Skip if Film Red tie-in material is not wanted.

There is no authoritative filler-percentage figure established here, so judge the route by these episode blocks rather than by a claimed percentage of the series.

Do you need the One Piece movies or specials?

No. GamesRadar’s 2026 guide states that none of the films needs to be watched to comprehend the plot of the series. The movies are not fully canon as a group, even when they reuse characters, settings or concepts that connect to the wider story.

Watch the television series first if this is your first time through. Add a film when you want a self-contained adventure, higher production spectacle or a tie-in story, not because the next canon episode requires it.

Film or material Suggested placement What to know
Strong World After the Thriller Bark-era material; Little East Blue 426–429 is its optional tie-in. Neither the film nor the tie-in is required for the main plot.
Film Z Around Z’s Ambition, episodes 575–578. Skip both when you do not want the tie-in.
Film Gold Around Silver Mine, episodes 747–750. Silver Mine is optional filler.
Stampede Around the transition after Whole Cake Island. Use it as supplementary material, not a canon checkpoint.
Film Red After Uta’s Past, episodes 1029–1030. The tie-in is optional and can be skipped without creating a story gap.

Other specials and crossovers follow the same rule: they are extras. If a platform places one between two numbered episodes, return to the episode list afterward so that you do not accidentally skip a canon installment.

Where to start if you have been watching on Netflix

If you know your last episode number

  1. Open the last completed episode and note its number, not only its season name.
  2. Find that number in the saga table above.
  3. Continue with the next “watch” episode. If the next number is in a skip block, jump to the next listed range.
  4. Check whether a special or movie was playing; it may not count as part of the numbered TV run.

If Netflix only showed seasons or selected arcs

Catalogs differ by country and change over time. Netflix carries selected films and related One Piece content rather than serving as a universal index of every TV episode. If you cannot establish the last numbered episode, restart at episode 1; that is safer than beginning in the middle of an arc and missing introductions or transitions.

If you watched only the live-action series or films

Start the anime at episode 1. The live-action adaptation and feature films do not provide a reliable episode-number checkpoint for the animated series.

Where the anime is available

GamesRadar reports that the complete One Piece anime is available on Crunchyroll, while Netflix carries selected films and related content. Availability, subtitles, dubs and episode counts vary by country and can change when licenses move. Verify your country’s catalog before relying on a service-specific season list.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Whichever service you use, search by episode number when possible. A platform’s “season 5” may not correspond to another platform’s “season 5,” but episode 517 is the same installment everywhere.

Choosing between the full route and the filler-skip route

Priority Best approach Trade-off
Follow the manga story efficiently Watch every listed watch range and skip every filler block. You miss anime-original comedy, side adventures and crossover episodes.
See everything animated Watch every numbered TV episode, then add specials and films. The journey is substantially longer and includes stories that do not affect later canon events.
Sample popular extras Add G8, selected tie-ins and films after reaching their placement points. You must return to the episode order and distinguish optional material from canon.
Recover after an interrupted stream Use your last confirmed episode number and the table’s next watch range. Season labels alone may place you in the wrong saga.

The practical verdict is simple: start at episode 1 unless you have a confirmed checkpoint, proceed numerically, retain canon and mixed episodes, and use the skip table only for clearly marked filler. Movies and specials can wait until you want additional One Piece rather than required story context.
