RTX Spark is a platform for Windows laptops and compact desktops built around an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU and a 20-core Grace CPU, with local AI agents as a central use case. NVIDIA said on October 2, 2026, that RTX Spark Windows PCs were coming during October. That is a company-stated window—not confirmation of a specific model’s sale date, stock, price, or performance.

What is RTX Spark?

RTX Spark is NVIDIA’s name for a new Windows PC platform developed with Microsoft. It combines NVIDIA silicon with Windows software intended to support local AI development and agent workloads, alongside creative work and gaming. MediaTek collaborated on the custom CPU design, according to NVIDIA.

The hardware described by NVIDIA includes a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores, fifth-generation Tensor Cores supporting FP4 precision, a high-speed NVLink-C2C connection, and a 20-core NVIDIA Grace CPU. NVIDIA and Microsoft describe the system as offering up to 128GB of unified memory and up to one petaflop of AI performance. These are company-published platform specifications, not independent measurements.

Why are local AI agents part of the announcement?

The companies describe a software approach that combines Windows security primitives with NVIDIA OpenShell. NVIDIA says OpenShell lets users set policies for agent actions, route queries to local models according to privacy policies, and disguise personal information in queries sent to cloud services. The intended applications include agents that can perform tasks in Windows apps, work across apps, create images and video, write code, and search local files.

Those are announced capabilities and design goals, not the findings of an independent security audit. Whether a particular agent can perform a task will depend on its software, permissions, model, and the final PC configuration.

What workloads do NVIDIA and Microsoft say RTX Spark can handle?

NVIDIA positions RTX Spark for AI development, creative production, and gaming. Its May 2026 announcement gives examples including rendering 90GB 3D scenes, editing 12K 4:2:2 video, running language models with 120 billion parameters and up to one million tokens of context, and playing games at 1440p above 100 frames per second. These figures are NVIDIA’s claims; the cited announcements do not provide independent benchmark results.

Microsoft says Windows has been optimized for the platform’s heterogeneous CPU architecture, including workload-profile scheduling across cores and work on power and thermal management. Microsoft also describes its Surface RTX Spark Dev Box as a system for prototyping, fine-tuning, and running models locally. The Dev Box announcement cites one petaflop based on theoretical FP4 TOPS using sparsity, rather than a measured result for a particular application.

When do RTX Spark laptops come out?

NVIDIA’s September 3, 2026, IFA post said RTX Spark PCs would arrive in October. Its October 2 post continued to describe Windows PCs powered by RTX Spark as “coming this month.” These statements establish NVIDIA’s announced timing, but not the exact retail date, price, stock, or final configuration of any individual model.

Which laptops and desktops will have RTX Spark?

NVIDIA’s October 2 update names Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and MSI as PC makers associated with the October arrival. Microsoft’s May announcement listed example devices including ASUS ProArt P16 and P14, Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition, HP OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14, Lenovo Yoga Pro 9n, and MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+. These are announcement examples, not confirmation that each named model will ship with RTX Spark in a particular configuration. Check the final specifications and availability for the exact model before choosing one.

The format is not limited to notebooks: NVIDIA describes RTX Spark as a platform for both Windows laptops and small desktop PCs. The announcements do not establish final memory, display, portability, pricing, or availability details across specific retail configurations, so they are not enough to rank models or recommend one over another.

How is RTX Spark different from NVIDIA DGX Spark?

RTX Spark refers here to NVIDIA-powered Windows laptops and compact desktops developed with Microsoft. NVIDIA’s October 2 post also mentions DGX Spark, but the two names refer to separate product lines in the cited announcements. The available information does not establish that they share the same hardware role or intended use, so do not treat a DGX Spark announcement as proof of an RTX Spark PC’s specifications or availability.
