NordVPN’s US pricing page currently lists three tiers—Basic, Complete, and Prime—with 1-month, 1-year, and 2-year options. The lowest displayed rate is $3.49 per month for the 2-year Basic offer, but NordVPN charges that plan as a single $94.23 upfront payment for the first 27 months. It is not a monthly installment plan.
This guide uses the prices shown on NordVPN’s US website on August 7, 2026. Sales tax may be added, and NordVPN says prices can change.

The table below shows the advertised price, the amount charged at checkout, and the renewal price where NordVPN displays one. The 2-year offers include three extra months, so the first billing period is 27 months rather than 24.

The crossed-out comparison prices shown for the introductory long-term offers are $312.93 for 2-year Basic, $493.83 for 2-year Complete, and $666.63 for 2-year Prime. For the 1-year offers, the comparison prices are $139.08, $219.48, and $296.28 respectively.

What you actually pay
NordVPN’s monthly figure for a 1-year or 2-year subscription is an average used to present the deal. It does not mean NordVPN withdraws that amount every month.
For example, choosing 2-year Basic displays $3.49/month, but the checkout charge is $94.23 for the first 27 months. The extra three months are shown separately as a deal; they are not three monthly payments added later. Similarly, 2-year Complete costs $121.23 upfront and 2-year Prime costs $202.23 upfront.
The 1-year plans are also paid in full at purchase. Only the 1-month plans use monthly billing. Sales tax is not included in the displayed US prices, so the final amount can be higher depending on your location.

Which NordVPN plan should you choose?
Basic: the VPN-only option
Basic includes NordVPN’s core secure, fast VPN service. It is the straightforward choice if you want encrypted VPN access without the additional identity, security, password-management, or cloud-storage features in the higher tiers.
Complete: the broadest feature bundle
Complete is marked “Most popular” on the pricing page. In addition to the VPN, it includes:

Complete costs $1 more per month than Basic on the 2-year presentation, or $27 more upfront for the initial 27-month period. On the 1-year term, the difference is $12 upfront. Those comparisons apply only to the introductory period; the listed renewal prices are different.
Prime: Complete plus Coveron insurance
Prime includes everything in Complete, plus Coveron benefits. The pricing page lists identity theft insurance up to $1 million and cyber extortion insurance up to $100,000.
These are not simply unrestricted cash benefits. NordVPN says additional terms apply, that it is not a licensed insurance producer, and that the benefits are issued and covered by HSB Specialty Insurance Company. Read the applicable terms before choosing Prime specifically for the insurance.

How to buy NordVPN
- Open the NordVPN pricing page.
- Choose “2-year plans,” “1-year plans,” or “1-month plans.”
- Select “Get Basic,” “Get Complete,” or “Get Prime.”
- Check the full amount shown at checkout—not just the monthly equivalent.
- Review the renewal amount, billing period, and any sales tax before completing payment.
NordVPN also sells subscriptions through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Store purchases can have a different billing interface or price from the web checkout. Amazon App Store purchases are also handled separately for cancellation purposes.
Renewal costs and the main catch
NordVPN subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal. After the introductory period, the listed renewal prices are:

NordVPN says renewal pricing can change and that it will notify subscribers by email before renewal if the price changes. This means the introductory rate should not be used as a permanent annual-cost estimate. Set a calendar reminder before the end of the initial term if you do not want an automatic renewal.
How to cancel NordVPN auto-renewal
For a subscription purchased directly from NordVPN:
- Sign in to your Nord Account.
- Open Billing.
- Click “cancel” next to auto-renewal.
- Select “Cancel auto-renewal.”
- Confirm that the status changes to OFF and look for NordVPN’s confirmation email.
This stops the next renewal but is not the same as asking for a refund. If you subscribed through Apple, Google, or Amazon, use that store’s subscription-management page instead of the direct Nord Account procedure.

Are the old NordVPN plan names still current?
Some older articles refer to NordVPN tiers called Standard, Plus, and Ultimate. Those names do not match the current US-dollar web pricing page checked for this guide. The current labels are Basic, Complete, and Prime, with Complete marked “Most popular.”
Also be cautious with articles that describe a 2-year deal as 24 monthly payments or suggest that its introductory price continues forever. The current offer is charged upfront for the first 27 months, and renewal is billed at the applicable renewal price.
