Markiplier’s The Edge of Sleep originally released on Amazon Prime Video—but not on the date viewers were expecting. The six-episode live-action series was announced for October 18, 2024, then appeared in full on Prime Video three days early, on October 15. It is now listed as a free, ad-supported title on Tubi in verified markets including the United States and Canada.
That makes the answer depend on whether you mean the surprise 2024 debut or the current place to watch: Prime Video was the original release platform; Tubi is the currently verified streaming home.
What streaming service released The Edge of Sleep?
The streaming service connected to the surprise release was Amazon Prime Video. Markiplier, whose real name is Mark Fischbach, initially announced an October 18, 2024 release date without naming the platform. However, all six episodes appeared on Prime Video on October 15, 2024.

Why was the release such a surprise?
The early debut caught viewers off guard for three separate reasons:
- The announced date was October 18. In Markiplier’s September 30, 2024 announcement, the platform was withheld and October 18 was presented as the release date. Watch the announcement, “The Plan,” for the original date reveal.
- The entire season appeared three days early. Instead of arriving on October 18, the six episodes became available on Prime Video on October 15.
- The launch had little visible advance promotion. Contemporary coverage described the arrival as unusually quiet compared with a conventional, highly visible streaming campaign. Many fans discovered the series through Markiplier or fan posts rather than a prominent Prime Video rollout.
The final point should not be read as a confirmed explanation of Amazon’s strategy. There is no verified evidence that the early listing was intended to be secret, or that Amazon deliberately mishandled the release. The defensible description is that Prime Video added the show early and with limited visible promotion.
The release timeline
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| September 9, 2019 | QCODE announced the fiction podcast The Edge of Sleep. |
| April 14, 2021 | Deadline reported on the television adaptation, including Markiplier’s return and casting news. |
| September 30, 2024 | Markiplier announced October 18 as the release date without identifying the platform. |
| October 15, 2024 | The complete six-episode season appeared early on Prime Video. |
| October 16–17, 2024 | Entertainment coverage reported the Prime Video debut as a surprise release. |
| April 16, 2025 | Markiplier promoted the series’ move to Tubi in “I’m back… again…”. |
| May 15, 2025 | The Tubi availability was reported as beginning in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, although local catalogs should be checked before assuming access. |
October 18 remains important because it was the planned release date, but it was not the first day the series could be watched on Prime Video. The first reported availability came on October 15.
Where can you watch it now?
United States
Tubi currently lists all six episodes in the United States. The title is presented as free with advertising rather than as a paid subscription-only program. JustWatch’s U.S. listing also identifies Tubi as the current streaming option.

United Kingdom, Australia, and other regions
The 2025 Tubi rollout was publicly associated with several English-speaking markets, including the U.K. and Australia. That does not establish worldwide availability, however. Tubi catalogs are regional, and the same title can be visible in one country but absent in another.
If the show does not appear in your local Tubi catalog, try searching the exact title in the Tubi website or app for your country. Do not rely only on a Google result or an old Prime Video link. Prime Video’s localized pages demonstrate that a title can remain discoverable while displaying an “unavailable in your location” message or offering no playback option.
Tubi presents The Edge of Sleep as a free, ad-supported program. That does not necessarily mean every device or territory has identical sign-in and playback requirements, so avoid assuming that an account is never required.
What is The Edge of Sleep about?
The spoiler-free premise begins with a global sleep epidemic. Dave, a night watchman, finishes work and discovers that people who went to sleep the previous night have died. He and a group of survivors must stay awake while trying to understand what caused the catastrophe.

The series is variously labeled as a thriller, mystery, drama, horror, or science-fiction title depending on the service. Its central hook is simple: sleep is no longer restorative—it may be fatal. This article does not cover the later revelations, including the Dream People, the island, the Beast, or the ending.

Is it the podcast or a new television series?
It is the live-action television adaptation of QCODE’s fiction podcast of the same name. The property began as an audio drama in 2019, with the podcast created by Jake Emanuel and Willie Block. Markiplier starred in and produced the original audio series.
The released television version is not an eight-episode filmed version of the podcast. QCODE lists eight podcast episodes, while the television adaptation has six visual episodes. The adaptation compresses and restructures the story, so podcast listeners should not expect every audio chapter, character, or plot beat to appear in exactly the same form.
The original podcast episodes are:
- “The Whale”
- “The Elephant”
- “The Black Triangle”
- “The Maniac and the Moobles Pt. I”
- “The Maniac and the Moobles Pt. II”
- “The Dream”
- “Escape”
- “The Pit”
QCODE’s official series page provides the podcast background, creator credits, premise, and audio episode information.

The television series has six episodes, and the complete season was made available at once rather than released weekly. Tubi lists the following runtimes:
| Episode | Title | Runtime |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | “The Whale” | 21 minutes |
| 2 | “The Elephant” | 21 minutes |
| 3 | “The Black Triangle” | 22 minutes |
| 4 | “The Dream People” | 23 minutes |
| 5 | “The Nightmare” | 23 minutes |
| 6 | “The Dream Warrior” | 26 minutes |
The listed episodes add up to approximately 136 minutes, or two hours and 16 minutes. That makes the season short enough to binge in one sitting, although viewers who dislike intense horror or suspense may want to split it up.

One casting detail can cause confusion: the 2021 adaptation announcement referred to Analeigh Tipton, while current listings for the released series identify Lio Tipton. For the version available to watch, the current streaming credits are the more relevant reference.
Tubi labels the U.S. listing TV-14. Prime Video’s U.S. metadata uses a different age label, 16+, and lists warnings for violence, substance use, alcohol use, smoking, foul language, and sexual content. Age classifications can vary by country and service, so check the rating shown in your local catalog.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How has the series been rated?
Early coverage reported an IMDb score of approximately 9.6 out of 10 from 443 user reviews shortly after the surprise release. That number represented a small and likely fan-heavy initial sample, not a stable long-term consensus.
IMDb’s current ratings page now shows approximately 7.0 out of 10 from roughly 10,000 ratings, with individual episode scores varying. Because user ratings change over time, treat the current IMDb page as the live reference rather than repeating the original 9.6 figure as though it were still the show’s score.

For context, the early release generated enough attention to be covered as a Prime Video surprise and to receive reporting about its position in the service’s rankings. Those early performance snapshots describe the October 2024 launch and should not be confused with current Tubi viewership data.

Has The Edge of Sleep been renewed for season 2?
No verified television season-two renewal was identified in the current Prime Video, Tubi, QCODE, or Markiplier listings reviewed for this article.
There was a separate QCODE announcement in 2022 concerning a second season of the podcast. That announcement should not be treated as confirmation that the live-action television series has been renewed. QCODE’s current official page presents the original eight-episode podcast season rather than released second-season episodes.
In other words, “the podcast may continue” and “the television adaptation has been renewed” are different claims. At present, the latter is not verified.

The show is a natural fit for Markiplier fans who want to see him in a scripted live-action role, as well as viewers who enjoy compact supernatural mysteries and high-concept thrillers. Podcast listeners may also be interested in comparing how the eight-episode audio story was adapted into six television episodes.
Because the full season runs only about two hours and 16 minutes, it is also a relatively low-commitment watch for anyone curious about the project. Start with the Tubi listing in your region, and remember that the premise involves deaths connected to sleep and may not suit every viewer.
The Bottom Line
The short version: The Edge of Sleep was the Markiplier project that Prime Video released unexpectedly on October 15, 2024—three days before its announced October 18 date. The complete six-episode season is now currently listed on Tubi as a free, ad-supported title in verified markets including the U.S. and Canada. Regional catalogs can change, so check your local Tubi app or website before assuming it is available.
