The JBL Tune 770NC is worth considering if you find it at a good discount and want over-ear headphones with adjustable noise cancelling, multipoint Bluetooth, and long manufacturer-rated battery life. It is an older Tune generation, though, and its fit, heat, and lack of wear detection may matter as much as its feature list. This review weighs the documented specifications against an independent reviewer’s findings; it does not claim new listening or battery tests.
What the JBL Tune 770NC offers
The Tune 770NC is a foldable, wireless over-ear headphone with Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Smart Ambient features. JBL lists Bluetooth 5.3, JBL Pure Bass Sound, VoiceAware hands-free calling, multipoint connections, and customization through the JBL Headphones app. JBL marks LE Audio with an asterisk on its US product listing; check the listing for the qualification rather than assuming a particular LE Audio feature or availability.
The app provides EQ customization as well as Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes. Ambient Aware lets outside sound through, while TalkThru is intended to make brief conversations easier without removing the headphones. JBL describes the cancellation as adaptive, but the available evidence does not establish a measured noise-reduction figure, so there is no defensible percentage to quote.
Battery life: 70 hours with ANC off, 44 with it on
JBL’s specification table, accessed October 4, 2026, rates maximum music playback at up to 70 hours with ANC off and up to 44 hours with ANC on. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results. The ANC setting makes a substantial difference to the stated maximum, so use the ANC-on figure when estimating playback with cancellation enabled.

| JBL-listed figure | What it means |
|---|---|
| Up to 70 hours | Maximum music playback with ANC off |
| Up to 44 hours | Maximum music playback with ANC on |
| Two hours | Charging time from empty |
| 39 hours | Maximum talk time |
| Three hours of music | JBL says a five-minute charge adds this much playback |
Actual playback can vary with use and settings; the figures should not be treated as guaranteed runtimes. JBL’s product page presents the five-minute charge claim separately from the specification table.
How it performed in an independent review
In a review published September 16, 2023, Jennifer Allen of TechRadar gave the Tune 770NC four stars. She praised its ANC, battery life, and lightweight build, and described the headphones as portable and low maintenance. Her reported drawbacks were no wear detection, a dull appearance, and the possibility of getting sweaty. These are Allen’s review observations, not results from testing for this article.

Allen’s verdict was that the headphones were reliable, fit well, were easy to store, offered the key features she wanted, and sounded good for the price. That assessment is useful context, but it is from 2023; current value depends on the price you can actually find and on how newer models suit you. Read TechRadar’s JBL Tune 770NC review.

Switching between devices
JBL says the Tune 770NC can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. That multipoint support is useful if, for example, you use a computer or tablet for audio and want to remain connected to your phone. It is a connection convenience, not a promise that every app or device will switch in the same way.

Microphone expectations
RTINGS’ result, updated June 23, 2026 to Test Bench 2.3, characterizes the microphone performance as “okay.” That narrow finding is a reason not to buy the Tune 770NC on the assumption that its microphone is a standout; it does not provide enough detail to generalize about every call environment.
Fit and heat
TechRadar’s reviewer found the fit good but also noted that the headphones can get sweaty. If you often wear headphones for long stretches or in warm conditions, comfort and heat are worth checking in person where possible. The foldable design supports portability, but JBL’s listed in-box contents do not establish that a carrying case is included.

What comes in the box
JBL lists a USB-C charging cable and a detachable audio cable as included. The available product information does not establish that a case or replacement ear pads are included, nor that either is necessary for normal use.
Should you buy the JBL Tune 770NC in 2026?
Think of the Tune 770NC as a value-oriented older model, not automatically the best choice just because it has a long feature list. JBL’s US product page displayed $149.95 in a listing crawled about three weeks before October 4, 2026; that is a volatile regional listing, not a verified current street price or a universal price. Check the live price in your region before deciding.
Best Value
- JBL Signature Sound and surround sound: Along with powerful JBL Signature Sound, the 40mm drivers offer immersive JBL Spatial Sound that turns any stereo content from any device into virtual surround sound.
- Bluetooth 5.3 with LE audio supported*: Wirelessly stream high-quality sound even at lower bit rates with Bluetooth 5.3. Audio Mode gives the best available sound while Video Mode ensures the sound and visuals are always in sync. *Available via OTA update
- True Adaptive Noise Cancelling with Smart Ambient: With four noise-sensing mics, True Adaptive Noise Cancelling means zero distractions whether you’re focusing on studying or getting lost in the music. Or turn on Smart Ambient to hear your surroundings.
- Up to 65 hours* of battery life and speed charge: Listen wirelessly for up to 50 hours and recharge the battery in as little as 2 hours with the convenient Type-C USB cable. In a hurry? A quick 5 min charge gives you 4 hours of music. *BT on/ANC off
- Auto play and pause: Take the headphones off, the music stops. Put it back on, the music starts again. It genuinely couldn't be simpler.
Generation is another consideration. JBL’s 770NC material advertises Bluetooth 5.3. A TechRadar report from September 2025 says JBL updated the Tune lineup with the 680NC and 780NC, which feature Bluetooth 6.0. That establishes newer models exist; it does not establish that either outperforms the 770NC in ANC, sound, fit, battery life, or microphone performance.
Compare the actual options available to you on price, ANC and sound with ANC enabled, battery life in the mode you use, long-session comfort, multipoint and app controls, and microphone quality if calls are important. The evidence here does not provide equivalent independent tests of the 680NC and 780NC, so there is no basis to rank them against the 770NC on performance.
Check JBL’s Tune 770NC product listing for the manufacturer’s current regional specifications and availability. Buy the 770NC if its live price is compelling and its trade-offs suit you; if a newer model costs about the same, compare their current specifications and try them if comfort is decisive.
