To transfer an EPUB to an XTEINK X4 Pro, either connect it to a computer and select USB Mode, or import the book through the XTEINK app and select Cloud Sync on the reader. XTEINK documents both routes. Its detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT as document formats; compatibility with DRM-protected books is not guaranteed.

The right route depends mainly on where the EPUB is already stored. A computer transfer uses a USB connection and the reader’s USB Mode. A phone transfer uses the XTEINK app, Wi-Fi on the reader, and a final Cloud Sync action. Neither route requires buying a larger microSD card just to move one book.

Choose the transfer method that fits your setup

Route What you need Reader setup Transfer steps
Computer The EPUB file on the computer and a USB connection to the X4 Pro Select USB Mode from the reader’s home-screen menu Wait for the reader to appear on the computer, then copy the file to the device
Phone The EPUB file on the phone, the XTEINK app, and a Wi-Fi connection for the reader Bind the reader to the app Choose the X4 Pro in the app’s Devices tab, tap Import, select the file, then select Cloud Sync on the reader

Neither route is documented as faster or more reliable than the other. Use the computer route when the book is already on a computer; use the app route when it is on a phone and you can complete the reader’s app and Wi-Fi setup. If the EPUB is on a computer but you would rather use the phone workflow, first make sure the file is available on the phone; XTEINK’s described app steps select a file from the phone.

The methods also differ in where you perform the final action. With USB, you put the reader into USB Mode, wait until it appears on the computer, and copy the book to the device. With the app, importing the file is not the only documented step: select Cloud Sync from the X4 Pro’s home-screen menu after the app import. Keep that distinction in mind if a file seems to have been selected in the app but has not yet appeared on the reader.

The instructions do not publish a transfer-speed comparison, a maximum EPUB size, or a guarantee that one route works on every computer or phone. Choose based on the device holding the file and whether you can complete the required setup. If a route behaves differently from the sequence below, check XTEINK’s current product guidance rather than substituting an unverified menu or folder.

Transfer an EPUB from a computer

  1. Connect the X4 Pro to the computer using a USB connection.
  2. On the reader’s home screen, open the menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select USB Mode.
  4. Wait for the X4 Pro to appear on the computer.
  5. Copy the EPUB file to the device.

Follow the order: connect the reader, open its home-screen menu, choose USB Mode, then copy after the device appears on the computer. Selecting USB Mode is an explicit part of XTEINK’s workflow; simply connecting the reader and immediately searching for it on the computer omits that step. The manufacturer does not specify the wording of any computer notification or require a particular destination folder, so the instructions here stop at copying the book to the device.

XTEINK’s product FAQ describes the copy step this way: “Once X4 Pro appears on your computer, copy the book file to the device.” (XTEINK X4 Pro product page.) The reviewed instructions do not specify a required destination folder, so they do not support a more precise folder path. If you see multiple locations or are unsure which one to choose, do not assume that a folder name found in instructions for another e-reader applies to the X4 Pro. Consult XTEINK’s current guidance for the correct location.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

After copying, the practical check is whether the book appears in the X4 Pro library and opens. If it does, the transfer accomplished its purpose. If it does not, separate two possible issues: the computer may not have recognized the reader or accepted the copy, or the file may be incompatible even though it was copied. A file that is missing from the library is not, by itself, proof that the cable failed.

USB connection caveat

The product specifications list a pogo-pin port and include a magnetic charging adapter, but the transfer instructions do not identify a particular data cable or adapter. Do not assume that every charging cable supports data transfer. If the reader does not appear on the computer, verify that the connection supports data and consult XTEINK’s guidance for the accessory and device setup you have.

This matters because the existence of a charging accessory does not establish that the same accessory is the documented data-transfer connection. The product page’s FAQ describes USB book transfer, but it does not name a specific cable model or adapter for that job. The official steps therefore support a USB connection, not a promise that every cable marketed or used for charging will make the reader appear on a computer.

If you cannot get the reader to appear, return to the documented sequence: connect it, open the upper-right menu from the home screen, and select USB Mode. Then check that the connection is capable of data transfer. The available instructions do not name a required operating system, cable specification, or computer-side prompt, so avoid treating any one computer message as a universal sign of success or failure.

Transfer an EPUB from a phone

  1. Bind the X4 Pro to the XTEINK app.
  2. Connect the reader to Wi-Fi.
  3. In the app, open Devices and select X4 Pro.
  4. Tap Import and choose the compatible EPUB file on the phone.
  5. On the X4 Pro’s home screen, open the upper-right menu and select Cloud Sync.

The app route requires both the binding step and Wi-Fi on the reader. The documented instructions do not establish additional operating-system requirements, account behavior, or alternative app menu names; if your app or firmware presents different options, check XTEINK’s current instructions rather than assuming a different workflow.

Keep the phone and reader tasks distinct. Binding the reader associates it with the XTEINK app; connecting the reader to Wi-Fi is a separate prerequisite in the stated sequence. In the app, select Devices, choose X4 Pro, and use Import to choose the book file from the phone. Then move to the reader and select Cloud Sync from its home-screen menu. The manufacturer’s steps do not describe importing by email, browser download, a third-party cloud drive, or a direct wireless file share, so those should not be substituted for the documented flow.

If the phone’s file picker does not show the EPUB you want, make sure the book file is available on the phone for selection. The official steps say to select a compatible book file from the phone; they do not explain how to move a file into the phone’s storage, nor do they specify behavior for every app or phone version. Once selected in the app, remember the Cloud Sync step on the X4 Pro. Importing in the app and syncing on the reader are both part of the described route.

Use this method when the book is already on a phone and you can bind the device and connect it to Wi-Fi. The computer instructions do not require app binding or Cloud Sync, while the app instructions do. If you do not want to complete those app and Wi-Fi steps, the computer route is the other official option, provided the file is on the computer and a data-capable USB connection is available.

Check the file format and DRM

XTEINK’s detailed product specifications list these file types:

Category Formats listed
Documents EPUB, TXT
Images JPG, BMP
Fonts BIN, XTF

That list identifies EPUB as a supported document format, but a file extension alone does not establish that every book will open. In particular, the reviewed official instructions do not guarantee support for DRM-protected EPUBs. If a book depends on DRM, or is in PDF, MOBI, PNG, or a store-specific format, confirm compatibility with XTEINK’s X4 Pro FAQ or XTEINK support. The FAQ’s caution is a reason to verify those cases, not proof that every unlisted format is unsupported.

There are two different questions to ask when a book fails: is its format listed, and is its particular file compatible? EPUB is in the official document-format list, but that alone does not settle the DRM question. A book can have an EPUB filename and still be protected or otherwise unsuitable for the reader. The reviewed XTEINK instructions do not promise that protected EPUB files will open, so do not treat a successful transfer as confirmation that the reader can display the book.

Likewise, do not expand the official format list by assuming that a format commonly used by another e-reader is supported here. The detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT for documents. They also list JPG and BMP as images, and BIN and XTF as fonts. The X4 Pro FAQ advises readers with PDF, MOBI, PNG, store-specific, or DRM-dependent libraries to confirm compatibility with XTEINK. That caution is more accurate than declaring each unlisted type definitely unsupported.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you are choosing between a known-compatible file and one that needs confirmation, check the format before spending time repeating a transfer. The USB and app steps move a file; they do not convert an incompatible format or remove a DRM restriction. The reviewed instructions do not describe an X4 Pro conversion feature. For a protected title or a file type not listed in the specifications, ask XTEINK whether that specific book format is supported.

Troubleshoot a book that is missing or will not open

  • The X4 Pro does not appear on the computer: check the USB connection and make sure it supports data, then follow the device’s USB Mode workflow. The product instructions do not name a required cable model.
  • The file was copied but does not appear or open: confirm that it is a compatible EPUB rather than relying only on its filename or extension. Check whether DRM or a store-specific format may affect compatibility.
  • The phone import is incomplete: check that the reader is bound to the XTEINK app and connected to Wi-Fi, then follow the documented sequence: app Devices → X4 Pro → Import, followed by Cloud Sync on the reader.
  • You cannot find a required destination folder: XTEINK’s reviewed instructions say to copy the book to the device but do not specify a folder. Do not rely on an assumed folder path; consult the current product guidance if the device does not recognize the file.

The manufacturer’s instructions are the basis for these steps; they do not establish that every computer, cable, phone, firmware version, or protected book will behave identically. For a file that remains unreadable after checking its format and the documented transfer sequence, contact XTEINK with the file format and your device setup.

Use the symptom to decide what to check next rather than repeating every step at random. If the computer never shows the X4 Pro, the issue is at the connection or USB Mode stage. If the computer does show it and the file was copied but is absent or cannot be opened, inspect the book’s format and DRM status. If you used the phone, make sure you completed both app import and Cloud Sync, not just the selection of the file in the app.

Do not assume that moving the file to a guessed folder will solve a library problem. XTEINK’s instructions say to copy the book file to the device but give no required folder path. Similarly, the reviewed documentation does not provide a transfer time, a progress-screen description, or a device-specific message for successful completion. If the documented actions are complete but the EPUB still is not recognized, XTEINK support is the appropriate next step, especially for DRM-protected books or formats outside the listed document types.

Can you use Calibre?

Calibre’s manual describes a general Connect to folder workflow for e-readers that export as USB disks. That is generic Calibre guidance, not confirmation of an X4 Pro-specific driver or a verified X4 Pro workflow. If the reader appears as a disk on your computer, the generic approach may be relevant, but the documented XTEINK method is to enter USB Mode and copy the book file directly. See the Calibre User Manual, Release 9.16.0 for the general folder feature.

In practical terms, first distinguish Calibre’s general ability to work with folders from device-specific integration. The manual explains a general method for devices that are visible as USB disks; it does not establish that Calibre recognizes the X4 Pro by name, provides an X4 Pro driver, or has been verified with this reader. Do not rely on a model-specific menu, automatic conversion, or library-sync behavior unless XTEINK or Calibre documentation confirms it.

If you already use Calibre and the reader appears to your computer as a disk after you select USB Mode, the manual’s folder feature may be worth consulting. That is a conditional possibility, not a guarantee. For the most directly documented XTEINK path, copy the compatible EPUB to the device using the computer’s ordinary file-copy workflow. Calibre is not needed simply to transfer a file using that method.

Do you need a larger microSD card?

No larger card is required simply to transfer an EPUB. XTEINK’s current product specifications state that the X4 Pro includes a 16 GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256 GB. Expansion is optional; the manufacturer’s stated maximum is not a recommendation for a particular replacement card. See the X4 Pro product specifications for the storage details.

The 16 GB included card and the stated expansion limit provide context for storage, not a reason to change cards before adding a book. The transfer instructions do not require an expanded card, specify a minimum card capacity for an EPUB, or recommend a brand. If you consider replacing or expanding the card, stay within XTEINK’s stated maximum and check compatibility rather than treating the maximum capacity as a blanket guarantee for every card.

The official product specifications report the included capacity and maximum expansion; they do not provide a price, a preferred retailer, or an endorsement of a particular card. A larger card is therefore an optional storage decision, not an extra purchase necessary for the basic USB or phone transfer steps.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer an EPUB to the X4 Pro without the XTEINK app?

Yes. XTEINK documents a computer route: connect the reader, choose USB Mode from the upper-right menu on the home screen, wait for it to appear on the computer, and copy the file to the device. The app route is the alternative for importing a book from a phone.

Do I need Wi-Fi for a computer transfer?

The computer instructions describe a USB connection and USB Mode. Wi-Fi is part of the app route, where the reader is connected to Wi-Fi and Cloud Sync is selected after importing through the XTEINK app. The documented computer sequence does not include Wi-Fi.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the X4 Pro support TXT as well as EPUB?

Yes. XTEINK’s detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT as document formats. Those same specifications list JPG and BMP as images and BIN and XTF as fonts. For other document types, including PDF or MOBI, consult XTEINK’s FAQ or support instead of assuming compatibility.

Will a DRM-protected EPUB work?

Compatibility is not guaranteed by the reviewed official instructions. If the book uses DRM, contact XTEINK to confirm whether that specific type of book is supported. The EPUB format listing does not guarantee that every protected EPUB can be opened.

Where should I put the book file on the device?

XTEINK’s reviewed transfer instructions say to copy the book file to the device but do not specify a required destination folder. Do not assume a folder path from another e-reader applies to the X4 Pro; check current XTEINK guidance if the file is not recognized.

Can I use any charging cable for USB transfer?

Not necessarily. The product specifications list a pogo-pin port and include a magnetic charging adapter, but the transfer instructions do not name a particular data cable or adapter. Make sure the USB connection you use supports data, and consult XTEINK about the accessory and setup if the reader does not appear on the computer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is Calibre officially supported for the X4 Pro?

The cited Calibre manual describes a generic Connect to folder feature for e-readers that appear as USB disks. It does not verify an X4 Pro-specific driver or workflow. The directly documented transfer route is to select USB Mode and copy the EPUB to the device.

Do I need to buy a microSD card to transfer one EPUB?

No. XTEINK says the X4 Pro includes a 16 GB microSD card. The product specifications state expansion up to 256 GB, but expanding storage is optional for a basic transfer and no specific replacement card is endorsed here.

Is the phone app route faster than USB?

XTEINK’s documented instructions do not compare transfer speed or reliability. The computer route uses USB; the phone route uses the app, Wi-Fi, and Cloud Sync. Choose based on where the book file is and which setup you can complete.

What should I do if the file transferred but will not open?

Check that the file is an EPUB or TXT, the document formats listed by XTEINK, and consider whether DRM or a store-specific format could affect it. If it is DRM-protected or still will not open, ask XTEINK support about compatibility. A successful copy does not itself guarantee that the file can be read.
