Revoke access at the same place it was granted. Disconnect a personal 1Password for Agents connection in the AI application; revoke an OAuth integration from 1Password.com; remove a service account’s vault assignment or app permission for business access; and suspend or delete a team member identity when the agent uses that identity. If a bearer token was involved, revoke the token itself. Then rotate passwords, API keys, and sessions the agent may have used. Revocation prevents new authorized access, but it cannot retrieve information the agent already viewed, copied, or submitted.
Which access path should you revoke?
Start by identifying the credential or permission the agent actually used. Disconnecting the wrong layer can leave another token, identity, or vault assignment active. Use this decision table before changing anything:

If you are uncertain, inspect the agent’s configuration and 1Password’s active integrations before revoking anything. A connector, OAuth client, and service account can coexist, so disabling one does not automatically disable the others.
How do I disconnect a personal 1Password for Agents connection?
This is the correct first step when you connected 1Password directly inside an AI agent application for personal use.

- Open the AI agent application that was connected to 1Password.
- Open its Integrations, Connectors, or similarly named settings area.
- Select the 1Password connection and choose Disconnect.
- Confirm the disconnect when prompted.
- Return to the agent’s task or login-request view and verify that pending and previously approved 1Password requests no longer appear.
1Password’s support guidance says that disconnecting removes existing approved login requests and stops the agent from continuing to use the integration to sign in. This is more targeted than deleting your vault or changing every password: it removes the authorization relationship while leaving your 1Password account intact.
What this personal connection can access
Connecting an agent does not give it a copy of your entire vault. According to 1Password, the agent can request a login for a task, but it cannot approve its own request or read information stored in the vault. Disconnecting therefore removes the mechanism that lets approved requests proceed; it is not a command to erase data the agent may already have received during an earlier task.
Availability can vary
1Password for Agents is opt-in, and the support documentation identifies Muse by Meta as a currently supported agent. Supported applications can change, so the labels and availability you see may differ from those described here. If no connector appears, look for an OAuth integration, service account, or member identity instead.
How do I revoke an OAuth application or security-automation integration?
Use this path when an automation, script, or agent authenticated through an OAuth client rather than through an in-app personal connector.
- Sign in to 1Password.com with an account allowed to manage integrations.
- Select Integrations in the sidebar.
- Open the active OAuth application that the agent or automation uses.
- Select Revoke integration.
- Enter your account password and confirm the revocation.
Revoking the application removes it from active integrations and revokes all access tokens generated with those client credentials. Individual token deletion is not enough if the client can mint new tokens; revoke the application when the client itself is no longer trusted.
Replacing an integration without unnecessary downtime
If a production collector or automation must continue, create or issue replacement credentials first and update the dependent service. Test the replacement with the minimum required operation, then revoke the old OAuth application. The order matters: revoking first can create an avoidable outage, while replacing first narrows the gap between old and new authorization.

When the integration is only partly known
Review the integration name, creation context, and dependent scripts before revoking. If several services share one OAuth client, revocation stops all of them at once. Treat a shared client as a broad blast radius and plan a coordinated credential change.
How do I remove an AI agent’s access to a business vault or service account?
Business administrators should revoke both the vault permission and the application route where appropriate. Removing only a browser-extension setting will not remove a service account’s direct vault assignment.
Restrict app access for a vault
- Sign in to 1Password.com with administrative rights.
- Open Vaults and select the affected vault.
- Choose App access > Manage.
- Restrict the 1Password apps or browser extension that the agent could use.
- Save the change and confirm that the agent’s route is no longer listed as allowed.
App-access controls limit which 1Password applications can reach that vault. They are useful when an agent is operating through a particular app, but they do not replace removing a person, group, or service account from the vault.
Remove a service account’s vault assignment
In the vault-management area, locate the service account or its assigned group. Open the ellipsis menu beside the account or group and remove or reduce its permissions. The Manage Vault permission includes the ability to grant and revoke vault access, so review that permission especially carefully.
If the agent uses a dedicated service account, disable or remove the account’s vault assignment and revoke the integration credential that authenticates it. Agentic-AI security guidance from 1Password describes scoped credentials and service accounts that can be disabled in real time; disabling the account is an effective containment action while you investigate.

Check inherited access
A service account may receive access through a group rather than a direct vault assignment. Removing the direct entry will not help if the group still grants the same permission. Inspect both direct and group-based membership, then check other vaults the account can reach.

What should I do if the agent runs under a team-member identity?
Choose suspension for an emergency stop that you may need to reverse, or deletion when the identity must be permanently removed.
Suspend for a temporary, reversible stop
Open the member’s details and choose the suspension action. Suspension blocks the identity while preserving its account and configuration, making it suitable when you are still determining whether the activity was legitimate or when another employee needs to take over.
Delete for permanent revocation
- Open the member’s details in the team administration area.
- Choose More Actions > Delete.
- Review the warning and confirm.
1Password states that deleting the account permanently revokes its access to vaults and items. Deletion is not the same as disconnecting one connector: it affects every resource available to that identity and should be coordinated with incident response and business continuity owners.

Bearer tokens must be revoked at the integration that issued them. Changing a vault permission does not necessarily invalidate a token that is still accepted by an API.
- Open the relevant integration in Integrations.
- For Events Reporting, locate the token and select its gear button.
- Choose Revoke and confirm.
- Check the dependent collector or script for authentication failures.
If a downstream collector must keep running, issue and deploy a replacement token before revoking the old one. Store the replacement securely, update the service, verify successful collection, and then invalidate the previous token.
What does revocation stop, and what can it not undo?
Revocation is a forward-looking control. It blocks future use of the integration, token, identity, or vault permission, but it cannot recall information that an agent already displayed, copied, logged, transmitted, or submitted to another service.

- It can stop: new OAuth token use, new bearer-token requests, future connector sign-ins, and continued access through a suspended or removed identity.
- It cannot stop retroactively: screenshots, copied passwords, API keys stored in another system, data included in an agent conversation, or actions already completed on a signed-in website.
- It may not end immediately: a downstream service’s existing session, cached data, or queued job unless that service is separately invalidated or stopped.
1Password explains that read access is tied to vault cryptographic keys and that revoking read access is enforced server-side. Its business-security guidance also warns that after something has been shared, it cannot be unshared. Treat suspected disclosure as a security incident rather than assuming a disconnect cleans up prior exposure.

What should I do after revoking the connection?
Use a short containment sequence to address credentials or sessions the agent may already have used.
- Preserve evidence. Record the integration, identity, vault, token, and time of revocation. Avoid deleting logs before reviewing them.
- Review activity. Examine audit or Events Reporting data for sign-ins, item reads, vault changes, token use, and actions performed by the associated account.
- Rotate exposed website passwords. Change every password the agent may have viewed or used, prioritizing administrator, financial, email, and recovery accounts.
- Rotate API keys and secrets. Replace keys in code repositories, automation platforms, cloud consoles, and webhooks that the agent could have accessed.
- Invalidate downstream sessions. Sign out active sessions or revoke refresh tokens in the websites and services where the agent authenticated. A 1Password revocation does not automatically terminate those external sessions.
- Inspect completed actions. Look for password changes, new users, file downloads, messages, purchases, or configuration changes made while the agent was signed in.
- Notify affected owners. Tell administrators, service owners, and incident responders which credentials and data may have been exposed.
How can I minimize disruption when revoking automation?
Plan the change around the scope of the credential. A personal connector can usually be disconnected immediately. An OAuth client, bearer token, or service account may support scheduled jobs that fail as soon as access is revoked.
- Map each integration to its jobs, collectors, and owners before changing it.
- Create replacement OAuth credentials or a new bearer token before invalidating the old one when continuity is required.
- Use a dedicated, narrowly scoped service account instead of a shared team identity.
- Test the replacement with one low-risk operation before enabling the full workload.
- Set a firm retirement time for the old credential; do not leave it active indefinitely as a fallback.
Suspension is the least destructive emergency action for a team-member identity. Deletion is appropriate when the identity is compromised or no longer needed, but it removes access everywhere that identity was authorized.

- Refresh the agent’s integration page and confirm that 1Password is no longer connected.
- Check 1Password.com’s active integrations for the OAuth client or token and confirm it is absent or revoked.
- Review the affected vault’s app-access and member/group permissions.
- Confirm the service account is disabled or has no assignment to the target vault.
- Attempt a harmless test task that previously required the integration; it should fail without exposing a credential.
- Review audit or Events Reporting entries after the change for any new requests from the old identity or token.
Do not test by asking an agent to reveal a real password. Use a non-sensitive test item or a deliberately denied operation, and remove any temporary test access when finished.

Why might the agent still appear to work after revocation?
- An existing external session remains valid: revoke sessions at the website or service the agent signed in to.
- A different authorization path is active: inspect OAuth applications, bearer tokens, service accounts, group membership, and team-member identities separately.
- A queued job is still running: stop the worker or scheduler and invalidate its credentials.
- The agent retained copied data: rotate the underlying password or key and treat the copied information as exposed.
- Permissions are inherited: remove the group or parent assignment that continues to grant access.
- The wrong integration was revoked: match the client name, token, account, and timestamps in logs before repeating the change.
Successful revocation means the old authorization can no longer obtain new 1Password access. It does not guarantee that every external process, browser session, or copy of data has stopped without those additional actions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I revoke one approved login request without disconnecting the whole agent?
The personal connector workflow is designed to remove existing approved login requests and stop that connector from signing in. If you need finer control, deny or cancel the individual request before disconnecting, then review whether any other approved requests remain.
Will changing my 1Password account password revoke an AI agent’s access?
Do not rely on an account-password change as the only control. Revoke the connector, OAuth application, token, service account, or member identity that granted access, then rotate the external credentials the agent may have used.

Yes. Remove the service account, member, or group from the specific vault and review inherited permissions. Also check app-access restrictions for that vault; a separate assignment may still expose other vaults.
What should I preserve before deleting a compromised team member?
Record the member identity, recent activity, assigned vaults, integrations, and token information first. Preserve audit or Events Reporting data so investigators can determine what the agent accessed before the identity was deleted.
Does revoking 1Password access delete data already sent to an AI service?
No. Revocation prevents additional authorized retrieval but cannot erase conversation content, logs, screenshots, or files already transmitted. Use the AI service’s own deletion and retention controls and rotate any secrets included in that data.
