To request a refund for a game bought through the EA app, sign in to the EA Account used for the purchase and use EA’s Refund Tool. You can also open Payments & Wallet > Order history, expand the game transaction, and select Request a refund if that option appears. Eligibility depends on the game, purchase details, and timing.
Check whether the purchase may qualify
EA’s refund policy covers eligible full EA game downloads for PC or Mac and participating third-party titles purchased through the EA app or EA.com. A third-party game must have the relevant EA refund-policy designation when you buy it. Use the Refund Tool to check the specific purchase; the policy windows below do not guarantee that every game or transaction qualifies.
- Game launched: Request a refund within 24 hours after the game is first launched.
- Game not launched: Request a refund within 14 days of purchase.
- Pre-order: Request a refund any time before release.
- Qualifying technical problem: For a new EA game bought within the first 30 days after release that you cannot play because of technical issues within EA’s control, request a refund within 72 hours after first launch. EA gives server issues and bugs as examples.
These are EA policy deadlines. The title, edition, purchase route, payment method, and local consumer law can also affect the outcome.
Submit a refund request through EA
- Open EA’s Refund Tool and sign in to the EA Account used to buy the game.
- Find and select the game you want refunded.
- Choose a reason for the request.
- Confirm the refund payment method shown for the purchase.
- Select Confirm and submit the request.
You can also try the account order-history route: sign in to your EA Account, open Payments & Wallet > Order history, expand the game transaction, then select Request a refund under Status if the option is available. EA says the request status appears beside the game after submission and that it sends a confirmation email.

Know which purchases EA’s policy excludes
Purchases made somewhere other than EA
EA cannot process refunds for purchases handled by another store or retailer. If you bought the game through PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Epic, an Apple or Google app store, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, or another seller, contact that seller to ask about its refund process.
DLC, currency, editions, and bundles
- Separately purchased downloadable content and in-game currency are not refundable under EA’s policy.
- Some editions that include virtual currency or content packs are excluded.
- For a bundle, the included games and content must be returned together.
- EA’s policy allows a refund for the same game only twice.
Payment methods
Some payment methods are listed as non-refundable, including certain carrier-billing and cash methods, prepaid or voucher cards, and third-party payment providers. Check the specific transaction and payment method in your EA Account rather than assuming it is eligible.

Check a request or cancel a pre-order
To review the purchase or refund status, go to Payments & Wallet > Order history in your EA Account. EA’s order-history help page says this area can show the status of games bought through the EA app. The Refund Tool can show up to 30 days of refund history.
If you pre-ordered through the EA app and want to cancel before release, EA’s pre-order instructions describe canceling through Order History. For a pre-order bought from another retailer, contact that retailer instead.

If the Refund Tool does not resolve the issue
Contact EA support if you cannot find the game, the request option is missing, or you need help understanding an eligibility decision. EA advises contacting it before submitting a chargeback when you believe an EA refund is owed. It says a chargeback outside its policy may result in the account being locked or restricted, or the charged-back content being removed.

Its terms discuss withdrawal rights in some countries, which can be affected by downloading or accessing digital content, as well as warranty rights that may provide a repair, partial or full refund, or replacement for faulty digital content under local law. The applicable right depends on your location and circumstances; consult the local terms or consumer authority for guidance specific to your case.
