Open the main-menu Settings gear, choose Audio Settings (or Audio/Video Settings), and set Soundtrack Music Volume to 0 or Off. Leave Commentary Volume above zero. This silences the game’s soundtrack while keeping play-by-play and the other audio channels available.
The setting that mutes music but keeps announcers
MLB The Show 26 separates its audio into individually adjustable channels. The relevant combination is:
- Soundtrack Music Volume: set it to 0 or Off.
- Commentary Volume: keep it above zero at the level you want.
Do not mute the television, console, or the game’s master volume. Those controls affect every sound. Changing only the music channel is intended to leave commentary, crowd noise, effects, umpire audio, and other independent channels at their existing levels. PlayStation’s official MLB The Show 26 product information describes this feature as: “You can turn down and mute individual audio volumes.”
Step-by-step: turn off the soundtrack
- Return to MLB The Show 26’s main menu. If you are in a game, use the appropriate pause or exit option to get back to the main menu before changing the setting.
- Select the gear-shaped Settings icon.
- Open Audio Settings. On some platforms or menu versions, the entry is labeled Audio/Video Settings.
- Locate Soundtrack Music Volume.
- Move the slider all the way down to 0, or choose Off if the menu presents a switch instead of a numeric slider.
- Check Commentary Volume. Set it to a level above zero; it does not need to match the music setting.
- Save the change if the menu offers a Save command, or back out of the settings screen if the game applies the adjustment when you leave.
- Start or resume a game and listen for the announcers. Also check a menu screen, because menu music and in-game presentation music can use different controls.
This is the fastest method when the goal is complete soundtrack silence rather than a hand-picked playlist.

Why commentary remains audible
The soundtrack and play-by-play are separate audio channels. Setting Soundtrack Music Volume to zero targets the music channel; it does not set Commentary Volume to zero. As a result, the announcers can continue while the selected music channel is silent.
The same separation means you can adjust other sounds independently. If crowd noise, effects, or umpire audio is too loud, change that channel rather than lowering the master volume. The exact names and grouping of those controls can differ by platform, but the principle is the same: change only the channel you want to change.
When stadium music is still playing
“Soundtrack” does not necessarily cover every music cue heard in the game. MLB The Show 26 may expose a separate PA Music Volume control or another presentation/music setting. If music remains after Soundtrack Music Volume is at zero, return to the audio menu and look for that additional music-related channel.

Check PA Music or another presentation channel
- Open Settings from the main menu again.
- Enter Audio Settings or Audio/Video Settings.
- Look for PA Music Volume or a similarly named presentation/music control.
- Lower that channel to zero or turn it off if you want stadium music silenced as well.
- Test both a menu and a game, because the remaining sound may be tied to a particular presentation context.
Do not lower commentary to solve a music-channel problem. If the announcers disappear, restore Commentary Volume to a level above zero and continue checking the other music controls.

Use Jukebox when you want selected songs, not total silence
The in-game Jukebox provides a different kind of control. Instead of muting a whole channel, it lets you disable individual songs while leaving other tracks enabled. You can also skip the song that is currently playing.
Choose the right approach
| Method | Scope | Speed | Commentary effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soundtrack Music Volume at 0 or Off | Mutes the soundtrack music channel broadly | One slider or switch | Commentary remains available when its volume is above zero |
| PA Music or another music control at 0 or Off | Addresses stadium or presentation music assigned to that channel | One slider or switch after locating the control | Does not require muting commentary |
| Jukebox song selection | Disables selected tracks while retaining others | Track-by-track | Commentary remains available |
| Skip current track | Changes only the song currently playing | Immediate for a one-off interruption | Commentary remains available |
Use the volume control if you never want the soundtrack channel to play. Use Jukebox if you want a custom rotation, such as keeping a few songs and removing the rest. Skipping is useful for a single unwanted track but does not create a permanent mute.
How to confirm that the setting worked
Test more than one place before assuming the change failed:
- Main menu: confirms whether menu music is controlled by the channel you changed.
- Gameplay: confirms that play-by-play still plays when the soundtrack is silent.
- Stadium presentation: reveals whether a PA or other presentation channel is still producing music.
- Other audio: crowd, effects, and umpire sounds should remain at their own settings unless you changed them separately.
If commentary is silent during the test, return to the audio menu and verify that Commentary Volume was not set to zero. If only a particular kind of music remains, identify whether it is menu, soundtrack, or PA/presentation audio before changing another control.

Troubleshooting common cases
The soundtrack slider is not visible
Open the settings from the main menu rather than relying on an in-game pause screen. Then check both possible menu labels: Audio Settings and Audio/Video Settings. Platform-specific menu wording and the grouping of sliders may vary.
Music stopped, but commentary stopped too
Check Commentary Volume first and move it above zero. Do not use the television or console mute function, and do not lower the master volume if your goal is to preserve announcers.
Some music remains after Soundtrack Music Volume is zero
Look for PA Music Volume or another presentation/music control. The remaining cue may be assigned to that separate channel rather than the main soundtrack channel. Set the relevant channel to zero or Off, then test a stadium presentation again.

Open the Jukebox and disable that track instead of muting all music. This preserves the rest of your selected rotation. If you only need to stop the current song once, use the skip option.

The change does not seem to persist
After adjusting the slider, use the menu’s Save command if one appears. Otherwise, back out of the audio screen and test the game before closing it. If the setting is still not reflected, reopen the audio menu and check the value directly; the label or location may have changed after a platform-specific update.
Platform and menu-label differences
The instructions apply to the supported platforms identified by PlayStation for MLB The Show 26: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The route is the same in principle—main menu, Settings, audio controls—but the exact wording, slider grouping, and presentation of the Off option can differ.
On one version, the menu may say Audio Settings; on another, it may say Audio/Video Settings. A numeric slider may show zero, while another interface may provide an Off toggle. Look for the control whose name includes Soundtrack Music, then verify the commentary control separately. Future patches can also change menu placement or labels without changing the underlying channel separation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat this change does—and what it does not do
- It silences the soundtrack music channel when that channel is set to zero or Off.
- It preserves commentary as long as Commentary Volume remains above zero.
- It does not require muting the console, television, or master game volume.
- It does not automatically disable every possible stadium or presentation cue; check PA Music Volume or a similar control if music remains.
- It does not create a custom song list; use the Jukebox for track-by-track selection.
- It does not change unrelated audio channels unless you adjust those channels yourself.
A practical setup for commentary-focused play
For a clean broadcast-style presentation, start with Soundtrack Music Volume at zero or Off and Commentary Volume above zero. Leave crowd, effects, and umpire channels at the levels you prefer. If stadium music remains distracting, lower PA Music Volume or the corresponding presentation control rather than touching commentary. If you want occasional music instead of silence, re-enable the soundtrack channel and use the Jukebox to keep only the songs you want.
A March 16, 2026 walkthrough from sadeqe info describes the same audio-menu route and distinguishes separate commentary, music, effects, and crowd controls. The exact labels can vary by platform, but the decision is straightforward: use a volume control for broad silence, Jukebox for a custom rotation, and the skip command for a single unwanted track.
