Leaving the Samsung One UI beta has two separate parts: withdraw your device from the beta program, then remove the beta software if it is already installed. Withdrawal is done in Samsung Members. Removing an installed beta requires a computer running Smart Switch PC, a data-capable USB cable, a backup, and the Downgrade command. Smart Switch reinstalls the previous approved official release and resets the phone or tablet, so local data can be erased.
If you enrolled but never installed a beta build, withdrawing in Samsung Members is enough; your device can continue running its current official software. If the beta is installed, withdrawing alone will not put the device back on stable software.
What is the difference between withdrawing and rolling back?
Withdrawing ends your participation in the One UI Beta Program. Rolling back removes beta firmware that is already on the device. They are related but not interchangeable actions.
| Situation | Action required | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Enrolled, but the beta update was never installed | Withdraw through Samsung Members | The device remains on its current official software |
| Beta software is installed on a Galaxy phone or tablet | Withdraw through Samsung Members, then use Smart Switch PC and Downgrade | The previous approved official release is reinstalled and the device is reset |
| Beta software is installed on a Galaxy watch | Contact a Samsung service center | Samsung handles the rollback; Smart Switch rollback is not supported for watches |
Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ describes withdrawal as an action in the Samsung Members application and identifies Smart Switch PC rollback as the method for removing beta software. Samsung’s Beta Manager guidance dated May 23, 2025, says Smart Switch rollback supports phone and tablet devices only; a watch must be rolled back at a service center.

How do I withdraw from the One UI beta in Samsung Members?
Use this step when you want to stop participating, whether or not you installed the beta. It changes your beta-program status but does not uninstall firmware already on the device.
- Open Samsung Members on the Galaxy device enrolled in the beta.
- Open the One UI Beta Program area.
- Open the menu or the beta-program settings.
- Choose Withdraw from beta program.
- Complete the confirmation flow shown by Samsung Members.
Samsung’s documented menu path is Samsung Members > Settings > Beta program settings > Withdraw from beta program. Menu wording can vary slightly by device model, One UI version, or regional beta program, but the function is the same.
If you only enrolled and never installed the test build, this is the complete process. You do not need to perform a Smart Switch downgrade simply because your Samsung account was enrolled.
How do I remove an installed beta and return to stable software?
An installed beta must be rolled back with Smart Switch PC. Plan for a reset: Samsung says rollback initializes the device and removes data generated during beta testing.
Back up before connecting the device
Back up anything you need before selecting Downgrade. Samsung specifically supports creating a computer backup with Smart Switch and restoring that backup after the rollback. A backup made before the beta is generally the safest source for returning to your previous data state.

- Use Smart Switch on a computer to create a device backup.
- Keep the computer and its backup available until the phone or tablet has completed setup after rollback.
- Check that the USB cable supports data transfer, not charging only.
- Make sure the phone or tablet has enough charge to remain connected throughout the operation.
Samsung warns that data created while using beta software may have limited recovery compatibility. A successful backup does not guarantee that every item created in the beta environment can be restored to the earlier official release.
Run the Smart Switch downgrade
- After backing up, connect the Galaxy phone or tablet to the computer with a data-capable USB cable.
- Launch Smart Switch PC on the computer.
- Allow Smart Switch to detect the connected device. If a permission prompt appears on the Galaxy device, approve the connection.
- Choose Downgrade in Smart Switch.
- Read the warnings about initialization and data removal, then confirm that you want to continue.
- Leave the USB cable connected while Smart Switch downloads or installs the previous approved official release and completes the reset.
- When setup starts again, configure the device and use Smart Switch to restore the computer backup.
The downgrade is not an in-place patch. It reinstalls the earlier approved release and resets the device, which is why backing up before starting is essential. Do not interrupt the cable connection or power-cycle the device while the rollback is running unless Smart Switch or Samsung support explicitly instructs you to do so.

Can I downgrade One UI beta without losing data?
There is no Samsung-supported, data-preserving downgrade path for an installed One UI beta in the documented procedure. Smart Switch rollback resets the phone or tablet and removes data generated during beta testing.
Your best protection is a Smart Switch computer backup made before the downgrade. After the official release is installed, restore that backup from Smart Switch. Samsung nevertheless cautions that beta-created data may have limited recovery compatibility, so treat the restore as a way to recover as much as possible rather than a guarantee that every beta-era item will return.
Withdrawal by itself does not erase data because it does not remove software. The destructive step is the Smart Switch rollback performed when beta firmware is already installed.

What should I do if the beta is still installed after withdrawing?
This is expected: withdrawal and removal are separate. A withdrawal changes your participation status, while the installed beta remains on the device until you run the Smart Switch downgrade.
If Samsung Members shows no withdrawal option
- Open Samsung Members on the device that actually joined the beta; using a different Galaxy device may not show the enrollment.
- Enter the One UI Beta Program area and check its menu or beta-program settings for the withdrawal control.
- Complete the confirmation screen rather than leaving the page before the request is submitted.
If the beta software is already installed, do not keep looking for an over-the-air “return to stable” switch. Samsung’s documented removal method is Smart Switch PC rollback for phones and tablets.
If Smart Switch does not detect the device
- Reconnect the USB cable directly to the computer and verify that it supports data transfer.
- Unlock the Galaxy device and accept any USB, authorization, or file-access prompt.
- Close and reopen Smart Switch PC, then reconnect the device.
- Try another known-good data cable or computer port if the connection repeatedly drops.
These checks address the connection required for the official process. If the device still cannot be detected or the downgrade cannot complete, stop repeated attempts and contact Samsung support or an authorized service center rather than disconnecting during an active installation.
Does the rollback process differ for a Galaxy watch?
Yes. Samsung’s Beta Manager says Smart Switch rollback is supported for phone and tablet devices only. A watch must be rolled back by visiting a Samsung service center.
Do not apply the phone-and-tablet Smart Switch instructions to a watch or assume that withdrawing from Samsung Members will remove watch firmware. For a watch, use Samsung’s service-center route and take the device, its charger, and any enrollment or error details that support staff request.

When will the stable release arrive if I only withdraw?
Samsung does not guarantee a specific stable-release date. Its One UI Beta FAQ says timing depends on analysis of beta feedback and implementation of improvements.
If you withdrew without installing the beta, the device continues using the official software already installed. If you withdrew after installing the beta, the device remains on that beta until you complete the Smart Switch rollback; waiting for a future stable update is not the same as removing the current beta build.
What should I check after the downgrade?
Once Smart Switch reports completion and the device restarts into setup, verify the result before treating the rollback as finished.
- Confirm that the phone or tablet is running the expected official release rather than the beta build.
- Reconnect to Smart Switch PC and restore the computer backup.
- Check essential contacts, photos, messages, authentication apps, and other locally stored data.
- Re-enable accounts, permissions, and settings that were not included in the restore.
- Keep the original computer backup until you have confirmed that the restored device contains the information you need.
If important beta-created information is missing, Samsung’s warning about limited recovery compatibility applies. Preserve the backup and contact Samsung support for the specific data type instead of repeatedly running the downgrade.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhich route should you choose?
| Your situation | Recommended route | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| You joined the beta but never installed it | Withdraw in Samsung Members | Fastest option; no firmware reset is needed |
| You installed beta software on a phone or tablet | Back up, withdraw in Samsung Members, then run Smart Switch PC > Downgrade | Returns to the approved release but resets the device |
| You installed beta software on a watch | Withdraw if applicable, then visit a Samsung service center for rollback | Requires assisted service rather than the self-service PC process |
The deciding question is therefore not simply whether you want to leave the program. It is whether beta firmware is currently installed, and whether the device is a phone, tablet, or watch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a Smart Switch backup restore every setting from the beta?
Not necessarily. Samsung says data created during beta testing may have limited recovery compatibility, so some beta-era items may not restore to the previous official release even when the computer backup itself is available.
Can I use a charging-only USB cable for the downgrade?
No. The official process requires the Galaxy device to communicate with Smart Switch PC, so use a USB cable that supports data transfer and verify the computer recognizes the device before starting.
How long does a One UI beta rollback take?
Samsung does not publish a guaranteed rollback duration. The time varies with the device, connection, software download, installation, reset, and subsequent backup restoration; keep the device connected until Smart Switch finishes.
